Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

The Project Management Professional (PMP) is PMI's flagship project management credential and the global gold standard for project managers. It validates your ability to lead projects using predictive, agile and hybrid approaches and is recognised in over 200 countries, including across Kenya.

    General

What is the Project Management Professional (PMP)?

The Project Management Professional (PMP) is PMI's flagship project management credential and the global gold standard for project managers. It validates your ability to lead projects using predictive, agile and hybrid approaches and is recognised in over 200 countries, including across Kenya.

Is the PMP worth it for professionals in Kenya?

Yes. The PMP is highly valued by employers in Kenya's ICT, banking, construction and consulting sectors, and PMP holders report around 16% higher pay than non-certified peers. It opens senior project and programme roles and offers a strong return on investment. Talk to a learning advisor to plan your path.

Who should take the PMP certification?

The PMP suits experienced project managers, team leads and delivery professionals who lead projects and want a globally recognised credential. It fits professionals across ICT, banking, infrastructure, consulting and the public sector in Kenya.

What are the prerequisites for the PMP?

There are two paths: a four-year degree with 36 months of leading projects, or a secondary diploma with 60 months of leading projects. Both paths require 35 contact hours of project management education, which this training provides.

How long is the PMP certification valid?

The PMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 professional development units (PDUs) across the PMI Talent Triangle within each three-year cycle.

Which standard is the PMP based on?

The PMP is aligned to PMI's PMBOK Guide 8th Edition and the current PMP Examination Content Outline, covering predictive, agile and hybrid project delivery.

    Pricing

How much does PMP training cost in Kenya?

PMP training fees in Kenya vary by format and are available on request. The fee covers courseware, practice questions, mock exams and application support, while the PMI exam fee is billed separately. Request a quote for current pricing and batch options.

What is included in the PMP course fee?

The fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, 35 contact hours of training, 1000+ practice questions, mock exams, exam simulator access, application assistance and learner support, plus a course completion certificate.

Is the PMP exam fee included in the training price?

No. PMI bills the exam fee separately in USD under regional pricing, for reference around USD 405 for members and USD 555 for non-members. PMI membership can reduce the exam fee and includes access to the PMBOK Guide. Verify current fees at pmi.org.

Do you offer corporate or group discounts?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for teams and PMOs across Kenya. Contact us for a tailored group quote.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and offer instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

What is the format of the PMP exam?

The PMP exam is a closed-book, computer-based test with 180 questions in multiple formats, including multiple choice, matching, hotspot and limited fill-in-the-blank. It is delivered online via Pearson VUE OnVUE or at a test centre.

How many questions are on the PMP exam and how long is it?

The exam has 180 questions and lasts 230 minutes (3 hours 50 minutes), including two 10-minute scheduled breaks.

What are the PMP exam domains?

The exam, aligned to the PMBOK Guide Eighth Edition, covers five domains: Project Management Fundamentals, Predictive Plan-Based Methodologies, Agile Frameworks, Business Analysis and Strategic Management, and Stakeholder Engagement and Communication.

What is the passing score for the PMP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score and does not publish a fixed percentage. Results are reported as Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement per domain, so focus on broad mastery across all five domains.

What if I do not pass the PMP exam the first time?

PMI allows up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period. Our training includes mock exams and prep support to help you pass, and re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts.

Where can I take the PMP exam?

You can sit the exam online through Pearson VUE OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre. Scheduling is done through PMI's portal or the Pearson VUE website.
