Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

The Project Management Professional (PMP) is the Project Management Institute's flagship credential and the global gold standard for project managers. It suits project managers, team leads and delivery professionals who want to validate their ability to lead predictive, agile and hybrid projects.

    General

What is the PMP certification and who is it for?

The Project Management Professional (PMP) is the Project Management Institute's flagship credential and the global gold standard for project managers. It suits project managers, team leads and delivery professionals who want to validate their ability to lead predictive, agile and hybrid projects.

Is the PMP worth it for professionals in Nairobi?

Yes. PMP is recognised by leading Kenyan and global employers across IT, banking, construction, energy and the development sector, and certified project leaders sit among the best paid. As Vision 2030 and digital projects scale, demand for credentialed managers keeps growing.

Which standard is the PMP based on?

The current PMP is aligned to the PMBOK Guide 8th Edition and PMI's PMP Examination Content Outline. The exam covers five performance domains spanning predictive, agile and hybrid delivery, business analysis and stakeholder engagement.

What are the prerequisites for the PMP?

There are two paths. With a four-year degree you need 36 months of leading projects plus 35 contact hours of project management education. With a secondary diploma you need 60 months of leading projects plus the same 35 contact hours, which this course provides.

How long is the PMP valid and how do I renew it?

PMP is valid for three years. To maintain it you earn 60 professional development units (PDUs) across PMI's Talent Triangle within each three-year cycle and pay the renewal fee.

    Is the PMP recognised internationally?

Yes. PMP is recognised in more than 200 countries and is widely regarded as the global gold standard in project management, referenced in employer job specifications, client contracts and procurement requirements worldwide.

    Pricing

How much does PMP training cost in Nairobi?

Training fees vary by format, from self-paced e-learning to live instructor-led and corporate options, and are available on request. The PMI exam fee is billed separately in USD and is not part of the training fee. Request a quote for current Nairobi pricing.

What is included in the PMP course fee?

The fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, 35 contact hours, practice questions, mock exams, an exam simulator, downloadable templates, application guidance and learner support, plus a course completion certificate.

Is the exam fee included in the training price?

No. PMI bills the PMP exam fee separately in USD under regional pricing (for reference, around USD 405 for members and USD 555 for non-members; verify current fees at pmi.org). PMI membership can reduce the exam cost.

Do you offer group or corporate discounts?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for teams and PMOs across Nairobi and Kenya. Contact us for a tailored quote.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and offer instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

What is the format of the PMP exam?

The PMP is a closed-book exam of 180 questions delivered by Pearson VUE, online proctored via OnVUE or at a test centre. It uses multiple-choice, multiple-response, matching, hotspot and limited fill-in-the-blank questions based on the current PMI Examination Content Outline.

How many questions are on the PMP exam and how long is it?

The exam has 180 questions and lasts 230 minutes (3 hours 50 minutes), including two scheduled 10-minute breaks.

What is the passing score for the PMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed pass mark. Your result is determined through psychometric analysis and reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback, so aim for broad mastery across all performance domains.

Does the PMP exam cover agile?

Yes. Roughly half the exam reflects agile and hybrid approaches. Aligned to the PMBOK Guide 8th Edition, the current exam includes a dedicated agile frameworks domain alongside predictive methods, business analysis and stakeholder engagement.

What if I do not pass the first time?

PMI allows up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period. Re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts. Our training and mock exams are designed to prepare you thoroughly for your first sitting.

Where can I take the PMP exam in Nairobi?

You can sit the PMP at a Pearson VUE test centre or take it online from home or office via OnVUE proctoring. You schedule the exam through PMI or Pearson VUE within your one-year eligibility window.

    Course Content

What topics does the PMP training cover?

The training covers the five performance domains of the current PMI exam: project management fundamentals, predictive plan-based methodologies, agile frameworks, business analysis and strategic management, and stakeholder engagement and communication.

Do I need prior experience to take the training?

You can enrol in the training at any level, and it is structured to build your knowledge step by step. To sit the PMP exam, however, PMI requires project-leadership experience and 35 contact hours, which the course provides.

    What learning resources are provided?

You receive PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, full-length mock exams, an exam simulator, templates, flashcards and topic-wise quizzes to reinforce learning and build exam readiness.

Are there practice tests and mock exams?

Yes. The programme includes hundreds of practice questions and full-length mock exams that mirror the 180-question format, helping you identify weak areas and build confidence before the real exam.

Is the courseware aligned to the latest PMP syllabus?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the PMBOK Guide 8th Edition and the current PMP Examination Content Outline, so you study the domains and approaches PMI tests today.

    Enrollment

How soon can I start and how do I enrol?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website, choose your preferred format, and get immediate access to schedules, courseware and resources. New live online and classroom batches run regularly in Nairobi. Talk to a learning advisor to pick a start date.

    What training formats are available?

We offer live online (virtual) instructor-led training, classroom sessions, self-paced e-learning and customised corporate group training, so you can choose the format that fits your schedule.

What are the eligibility requirements to enrol?

Anyone can enrol in the training. To sit the PMP exam, PMI requires a degree with 36 months of leading projects, or a secondary diploma with 60 months, plus 35 contact hours of project management education.

Can I reschedule or transfer to another batch?

Refunds and cancellations are handled per our published policy, and selected plans include a money-back guarantee. Reach out to our team for the details that apply to your enrolment.
