What is the format of the PRINCE2 Practitioner exam?

It is an open-book, scenario-based objective test. The PRINCE2 Managing Successful Projects manual is permitted, and questions require analysis and judgment rather than simple recall. It is delivered online via PeopleCert OnVUE or at an authorised test centre.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

The exam has 56 questions and sub-questions worth 70 marks, and you have 150 minutes (2 hours 30 minutes) to complete it.

What is the passing score?

You need 60 per cent to pass, which is 42 out of 70 marks. Because the exam is scenario-based, aim for deep, applied mastery across all nine syllabus areas rather than memorisation.

What are the prerequisites for the Practitioner exam?

You need PRINCE2 Foundation certification, or an accepted equivalent such as PMP, CAPM or IPMA Level A/B/C/D. Verify current accepted equivalents with PeopleCert before you book.

What if I do not pass on the first attempt?

You can resit the exam. Our training includes scenario practice and open-book technique to prepare you thoroughly, and selected plans include retake support. Ask a learning advisor about the resit options for your package.

Do I need prior experience to follow the course?

You should hold PRINCE2 Foundation or an accepted equivalent, as Practitioner builds on that knowledge. The training then focuses on applying and tailoring the method through realistic scenarios, so prior Foundation-level understanding is enough to keep pace.

Are practice questions and materials provided?

Yes. You receive syllabus-aligned courseware, scenario-based exercises and practice questions modelled on the open-book Practitioner format, plus guidance on navigating the manual efficiently under exam conditions.

Is the courseware aligned with the current syllabus?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the PRINCE2 7 Practitioner syllabus and the PRINCE2 7th Edition (2023) manual, so you study the current method, including the People capability and sustainability content.

Will I receive a certificate after the training?

Yes. After you meet the course requirements you receive a course completion certificate. Passing the separate PeopleCert Practitioner exam then earns the official PRINCE2 Practitioner credential and digital badge.
