What Is the PgMP Certification?UntitledPMI's Senior Programme Credential

The Program Management Professional (PgMP) is the Project Management Institute's senior credential for professionals who manage multiple related projects as one coordinated programme to deliver strategic benefits. PgMP certification training in China prepares experienced programme leaders to align delivery with organisational strategy, govern at scale, and pass the PgMP exam and panel review. The credential is built on The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition, and the PgMP Examination Content Outline, and it is held by fewer than 3,000 practitioners worldwide, which makes it a rare marker of programme leadership. As China's 15th Five-Year Plan accelerates advanced manufacturing, digital transformation and Belt and Road delivery, employers increasingly seek leaders who can turn strategy into coordinated programme outcomes. Whether you lead transformation programmes in technology, finance, manufacturing or infrastructure, this training gives you a globally recognised route from senior delivery to certified programme leadership. Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

PgMP (Program Management Professional) is PMI's senior credential for professionals who manage multiple related projects as a coordinated programme to deliver strategic benefits. It is designed for senior programme managers, PMO heads and directors in China with substantial programme experience.

    General

What is the PgMP certification and who is it for?

PgMP (Program Management Professional) is PMI's senior credential for professionals who manage multiple related projects as a coordinated programme to deliver strategic benefits. It is designed for senior programme managers, PMO heads and directors in China with substantial programme experience.

Is the PgMP worth it for programme leaders in China?

Yes. PgMP is a rare, globally recognised PMI credential held by fewer than 3,000 practitioners worldwide, and it positions you for senior roles across technology, finance, manufacturing and consulting. PMI reports programme managers with PgMP earn notably more than non-certified peers. Talk to a learning advisor to plan your path.

Which standard is the PgMP based on?

The PgMP is built on The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition, and the PgMP Examination Content Outline, which define the five programme performance domains tested in the exam.

    Is PMP required before PgMP?

No. PMP is not mandatory. However, an active PMP satisfies the project management experience requirement across all three eligibility sets, so PMP holders only need to document their programme management experience.

How long is the PgMP valid and how is it renewed?

PgMP is valid for three years. You maintain it by earning 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle, with a minimum of 8 in each area, within every three-year continuing certification requirements cycle.

    Pricing

How much does PgMP training cost in China?

PgMP training fees vary by format and provider and are available on request. The PMI exam fee is billed separately in USD under regional pricing and is not part of the training fee. Request a quote for current pricing.

What is included in the PgMP course fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, exam simulator access, templates, application and panel-review support, learner support, and a course completion certificate with contact hours.

Is the PMI exam fee included in the training price?

No. PMI bills the PgMP exam fee separately in USD. For reference it is around USD 800 for PMI members and USD 1,000 for non-members, and membership of about USD 139 a year also lowers renewal costs. Confirm current fees on pmi.org.

Do you offer corporate or group discounts?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for PMOs and leadership teams across China. Contact us for a tailored quote.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and offer instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

What is the format of the PgMP exam?

The PgMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PgMP Examination Content Outline and The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition. It uses single-answer and multiple-answer questions across five performance domains.

How many questions are on the PgMP exam and how long is it?

The exam has 170 questions with an allotted time of four hours (240 minutes). Understanding the format helps you plan your preparation and manage time on exam day.

What are the PgMP exam domains and their weights?

Five domains: Strategic Program Management (11%), Program Life Cycle Management (44%), Benefits Management (11%), Stakeholder Engagement (16%) and Governance (18%).

What is the PgMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to the PgMP, in which programme management practitioners evaluate your documented experience. You must pass both the panel review and the written exam to earn the credential.

What if I do not pass the exam the first time?

PMI allows up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period. Reexamination fees apply to later attempts; confirm current amounts on pmi.org. Our practice resources are built to support a confident first sitting.

How and where do I take the PgMP exam in China?

After your application is approved and you clear the panel review, schedule the exam through Pearson VUE, either at a test centre or via OnVUE online proctoring, within your one-year eligibility period.

    Course Content

What topics are covered in the PgMP training?

The training covers all five PgMP performance domains: Strategic Program Management, Program Life Cycle Management, Benefits Management, Stakeholder Engagement and Governance, plus application and exam strategy.

Do I need prior experience to benefit from the training?

PgMP is a senior credential, so the training suits experienced programme professionals. Anyone can attend to build capability, but sitting the exam requires PMI's programme management experience under one of the three eligibility sets.

    What learning resources are provided?

You receive PMI-aligned courseware, references to the PgMP Examination Content Outline and Handbook, an overview of The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition, templates, flashcards and chapter-wise quizzes.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions, full-length mock exams, an exam simulator and topic-wise quizzes to help you identify weak areas and build readiness for the 170-question exam.

Is the courseware aligned to the latest PgMP syllabus?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current PgMP Examination Content Outline and The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition.

Will I receive a certificate of completion?

Yes. After meeting the course requirements you receive a course completion certificate and the 24 contact hours earned through the programme.

    Enrollment

What are the eligibility requirements for the PgMP exam?

PMI requires programme and project management experience within the past 15 years under one of three sets, plus a panel review. An active PMP can satisfy the project experience requirement. The training itself is open to enrol.

How do I enrol in the PgMP course?

Enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. See upcoming batches to get started.

    What training formats are available?

We offer live virtual (online) classroom training, self-paced e-learning, classroom training, and customised corporate group training, so you can choose the format that fits your schedule in China.

    How soon can I start?

New live online batches run regularly, and self-paced access starts immediately on enrolment. Talk to a learning advisor to find the next batch that suits you.

Can I reschedule or transfer to another batch?

Yes. Flexi options let you reschedule or transfer to another batch, and selected plans let you attend the training twice. Contact support to arrange this.

What is the refund or cancellation policy?

Refunds and cancellations are handled per our published policy, and selected plans include a money-back option. Reach out to our team for the details that apply to your enrolment.
