Market Forces Driving PgMP Demand in Lausanne

    Health Valley Talent Scarcity

Vaud's 1,000-plus life sciences firms are scaling fast, yet many director-level roles sit unfilled past 180 days. Programme leaders who can govern complex delivery are in short supply.

PgMP makes certified programme leaders stand out

    Strategy-Execution Gap

Boards fund transformation and capex programmes, but weak links between strategy and the funded work cause value leakage that credentialed programme leaders are now hired to close.

PgMP builds prioritisation and benefits skills

    Multinational HQ Complexity

Global headquarters in Vaud run cross-border programmes spanning many markets and functions, demanding programme-grade governance, benefits tracking and coordination at scale.

PgMP builds governance and coordination skills

    Trust Tech and Digital Change

The Trust Valley cybersecurity and digital-trust push is reshaping delivery, so organisations need programme leaders who can steer multi-workstream change under tight assurance.

    PgMP builds multi-workstream delivery skills

    Cross-Border Talent Competition

With only a fraction of EPFL and UNIL graduates staying in the canton, senior programme talent is fiercely contested, making a recognised credential a genuine differentiator.

PgMP gives a recognised, portable edge

    Capital-Efficiency Pressure

Capital discipline in pharma, banking and manufacturing pushes organisations to prioritise ruthlessly, retire low-value work and rebalance programmes to strategic benefit.

    General

What is the PgMP certification and who is it for?

The Program Management Professional (PgMP) is PMI's expert-level credential for professionals who manage multiple related projects as one coordinated programme to deliver strategic benefits. It suits senior programme managers, PMP holders stepping up, PMO leaders and transformation directors in and around Lausanne.

Why choose Invensis Learning for PgMP training in Lausanne?

Is the PgMP recognised by employers in Switzerland?

Yes. The PgMP is a globally recognised PMI credential valued by Vaud and Swiss employers across pharma, FMCG, banking, technology and the public sector that run large, strategy-critical programmes. Fewer than 3,000 practitioners worldwide hold it, making it a strong differentiator.

Do I need PMP before taking the PgMP?

No. PMP is not a mandatory prerequisite. However, an active PMP satisfies the project management experience requirement across all three PgMP eligibility sets, so PMP holders only need to document their programme management experience.

How long is the PgMP valid and how is it renewed?

The PgMP is valid for three years. You renew it by earning 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle within each three-year continuing certification requirements cycle, with at least 8 PDUs in each area.

    Pricing

How much does PgMP training cost in Lausanne?

PgMP training fees vary by format and provider, so pricing is available on request. The PMI exam fee is billed separately in USD under regional pricing and is not part of the training fee. Request a quote for current Lausanne schedules and corporate rates.

    Exam

What is the format of the PgMP exam?

The PgMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PgMP Examination Content Outline and the Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition. It covers five performance domains with scenario-based questions.

How many questions are on the PgMP exam and how long is it?

The exam has 170 questions and an allotted time of four hours. It is delivered via Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

What are the five PgMP exam domains and their weights?

Strategic Program Management (11%), Program Life Cycle Management (44%), Benefits Management (11%), Stakeholder Engagement (16%) and Governance (18%). Programme life cycle management carries the greatest weight.

What is the PgMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to the PgMP. A panel of programme management practitioners evaluates your documented experience. You must pass both the panel review and the written exam to earn the credential.

What if I do not pass the exam first time?

PMI allows up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period. Reexamination fees apply to the second and third attempts; confirm current amounts on the PMI store. Our mock exams and trainer support help you prepare thoroughly.

What is the passing score for the PgMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed percentage pass mark. Results are determined psychometrically and reported by domain as Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so aim for broad mastery across all five domains.

    Course Content

What topics does the PgMP training cover?

The training covers the five PgMP performance domains: Strategic Program Management, Program Life Cycle Management, Benefits Management, Stakeholder Engagement and Governance, plus the PMI application, panel review and exam strategy.

Do I need prior experience to benefit from the course?

The training is built for experienced professionals, but anyone can attend to learn. To sit the exam PMI requires substantial programme experience; our trainers help you map your background to the eligibility sets and the ECO.

    What learning resources are provided?

You receive PMI-aligned courseware, references to the PgMP Examination Content Outline and Handbook, a Standard for Program Management overview, templates, flashcards and chapter-wise quizzes.

Are mock exams and practice questions included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions, full-length mock exams and topic-wise quizzes mapped to the PgMP ECO to help you find weak areas and build exam readiness.

Is the courseware aligned to the current PgMP standard?

Yes. The courseware aligns to PMI's Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition, and the current PgMP Examination Content Outline.

    Enrollment

What are the eligibility requirements for the PgMP?

PMI offers three sets. With a four-year degree you need 48 months of project management experience (or an active PMP) plus 48 months of programme management experience within the last 15 years; a secondary diploma requires 84 months of programme experience. A panel review applies to all.
