What Is the CAPM Credential?UntitledYour First PMI Credential

CAPM certification training in Lausanne prepares you for the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM), the entry-level credential awarded by the Project Management Institute (PMI). It proves you understand the terminology, processes and delivery approaches of modern project management, even if you have never led a project yourself. The exam is set by the CAPM Examination Content Outline effective January 2023, and the syllabus draws on the PMBOK Guide 8th Edition together with PMI's Agile Practice Guide. It covers four domains: Project Management Fundamentals and Core Concepts, Predictive Plan-Based Methodologies, Agile Frameworks and Methodologies, and Business Analysis Frameworks. Roughly half the questions deal with predictive delivery and half with agile and hybrid ways of working, which is exactly the mix employers in Vaud run today. PMI asks for a secondary degree and 23 hours of project management education. No work experience is needed. Our 24-hour instructor-led programme meets that education requirement in full, so you finish the training eligible to apply. If you want a recognised first credential that travels across the Lake Geneva job market and beyond, start your CAPM journey with Invensis Learning.

What You Gain by Getting CertifiedValue for Learners and Teams

    For Individuals

    For Individuals

Certified CAPM training gives newcomers a recognised way to prove project knowledge before they have a track record. That matters in Lausanne, where graduate and junior project roles at pharma, medtech, engineering and public sector employers attract strong competition. Whether you are finishing a degree, moving across from a technical or commercial role, or already supporting a project team, the credential turns informal exposure into evidence an employer can check.

The result is a faster route into paid project work. You learn the process groups, the agile frameworks and the business analysis basics that hiring managers screen for, and you finish eligible to sit the PMI exam.

    • Enter project management with a PMI credential, without needing prior project experience
    • Qualify for project coordinator and project support roles that pay from around CHF 76,500 in Lausanne
    • Prove fluency in both predictive and agile delivery, the mix Vaud employers actually run
    • Stand out for graduate and junior openings at life sciences, medtech and engineering employers
    • Meet the 23-hour education requirement in full through the 24-hour programme
    • Speak the shared project vocabulary used across PMI-aligned PMOs worldwide

    • Carry a globally portable credential recognised through PMI's network in over 200 countries
    For Organizations

    For Organizations

Group CAPM training helps organisations in Vaud lift the baseline capability of everyone who touches a project, not just the people who lead one. Coordinators, analysts, engineers and administrators learn the same terminology, the same reporting logic and the same delivery choices. That shared foundation shortens onboarding and cuts the cost of misaligned handovers between functions.

For employers running clinical, product or infrastructure workstreams, a certified support layer means cleaner scope definition, more reliable schedules and fewer surprises at the point of escalation.

    • Give graduates and junior staff one shared project vocabulary from day one
    • Reduce rework caused by inconsistent scoping, estimating and status reporting
    • Build a certified feeder pool for future project manager and PMO roles
    • Prepare teams for hybrid delivery, mixing plan-based and agile approaches
    • Strengthen governance discipline in regulated pharma, medtech and finance projects
    • Deliver training in Lausanne onsite or live virtual, around live project schedules
    • Standardise practice across sites in Vaud and the wider Lake Geneva region

Why Lausanne Employers Are Short of Project Talent

A Thin Bench of Entry-Level Project Talent

Vaud has deep scientific and engineering talent but few juniors who can plan, track and report a project. Certified associates fill that gap without needing years of delivery history.

Get the credential that proves PM knowledge

Life Sciences Projects Under Constant Pressure

Biopole alone hosts 180 companies and around 3,500 people running trials, tech transfers and product launches. Each needs disciplined scope, schedule and risk control at the support level.

Learn the delivery discipline pharma expects

Hybrid Delivery Is Now the Default

Teams mix plan-based stages with sprints and Kanban boards. The exam splits roughly half predictive and half agile and hybrid, so it maps directly to how Lausanne teams actually work.

Master predictive and agile approaches together

    Regulated Work Demands Formal Governance

Pharma, medtech, banking and public health projects in Vaud must evidence decisions and controls. Employers value staff who already know charters, baselines and change control.

Build the governance vocabulary employers audit

An Infrastructure Pipeline That Keeps Growing

The metro m3 line, six new stations and the Pres-de-Vidy eco-district create years of coordination work for project support staff across engineering and public sector teams.

Support large capital programmes with confidence

A Global Shortage of Project Professionals

PMI research points to as many as 30 million project professionals needed worldwide by 2035. Entering the profession with a recognised credential puts you ahead of that curve.

Enter a profession that is actively short-staffed

The programme maps directly to the four domains of the CAPM Examination Content Outline effective January 2023, drawing on the PMBOK Guide 8th Edition and the Agile Practice Guide. By the end you can support a project end to end and sit the exam with confidence.

    Project Fundamentals and Core Concepts

    Business Analysis Frameworks

Carry out needs assessment with gap and root cause analysis, elicit requirements through interviews, workshops and prototyping, keep requirements traceable, build process and use case models, and evaluate solution options against acceptance criteria.

    Stakeholder Engagement and Reporting

Identify stakeholders, map power and interest, plan engagement, and report performance through dashboards, status reports and lessons learned so decision makers get what they need at the right moment.

    Exam Readiness and Application Support

Practise against the 150-question, three-hour closed-book format, work through the four exam domains in proportion, and get guidance on documenting your 23 hours of education for the PMI application.

"I finished my degree with no project experience at all. The trainer walked us through the process groups and the agile side properly, and I passed on my first attempt. I now work as a project coordinator in a medtech firm near Lausanne."

"Moving from lab work into project support felt like a leap. The four domains gave me structure, and the business analysis part was more useful than I expected. The 24 hours covered the PMI education requirement, so applying was simple."

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

Yes. It is the credential that lets you evidence project knowledge before you have delivery experience. Project coordinators in Lausanne average around CHF 76,500 a year and project managers around CHF 112,000, and life sciences, engineering and public sector employers screen for proven PM fundamentals.

    General

Is the CAPM worth it for someone starting out in Lausanne?

Yes. It is the credential that lets you evidence project knowledge before you have delivery experience. Project coordinators in Lausanne average around CHF 76,500 a year and project managers around CHF 112,000, and life sciences, engineering and public sector employers screen for proven PM fundamentals.

What is the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)?

It is PMI's entry-level project management credential. It demonstrates that you understand the terminology, processes and delivery approaches of project management, and it is designed for people with limited or no project experience.

    Who should take this course?

Students, recent graduates, career changers and project team members who support projects but do not yet lead them. No project management work experience is required at any point.

How does the CAPM differ from the PMP?

The CAPM is the entry credential, needing only a secondary degree and 23 hours of project management education. The PMP is the advanced credential and requires months of experience leading projects. Many professionals take the CAPM first and move to the PMP once they have logged that experience.

Is the credential recognised by employers in Switzerland?

Yes. As a PMI credential it carries recognition through PMI's network in over 200 countries, and PMI Switzerland reported a 19 percent rise in PMI exam enrolments between 2022 and 2024. Employers in Vaud treat it as credible evidence of project management knowledge.

How long does the certification stay valid?

Three years from the date of certification. Unlike the PMP, renewal means retaking and passing the exam rather than collecting PDUs.

    Pricing

What is included in the training fee?

The fee covers 24 hours of instructor-led training, ECO-aligned courseware, industry case studies, practice questions and guidance on the PMI application. Training fees for Lausanne are quoted in Swiss francs and are available on request. Request a quote and a learning advisor will confirm the current price.

Is the PMI exam fee part of the course price?

The exam is purchased separately through PMI, which bills in USD with different member and non-member rates. Confirm the current inclusion of an exam voucher with our team, and verify the exam fee on pmi.org before you apply.

Does PMI membership reduce the cost?

Yes. PMI members pay a lower exam fee than non-members, and membership also gives free access to the PMBOK Guide Eighth Edition and the Agile Practice Guide. Check the current membership and exam fees on pmi.org, as PMI updates its pricing periodically.

Do you offer group or corporate pricing in Lausanne?

Yes. Corporate group training comes with tailored schedules and group-based pricing for teams in Lausanne and across Vaud, delivered onsite or live virtual. Ask about corporate pricing for your team.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, with instalment options on selected plans. Talk to a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

What if I do not pass the exam on my first attempt?

PMI allows up to three attempts within the one-year eligibility window that starts when your application is approved. Your training gives you practice questions, mock assessments and trainer guidance so you go in prepared, and a re-examination fee applies to further attempts.

    What is the exam format?

150 multiple-choice questions in three hours, closed book. It is delivered through Pearson VUE, either at a test centre or via OnVUE online proctoring, and is based on the CAPM Examination Content Outline effective January 2023.

What does the CAPM exam cover?

Four domains: Project Management Fundamentals and Core Concepts, Predictive Plan-Based Methodologies, Agile Frameworks and Methodologies, and Business Analysis Frameworks. Around half the questions deal with predictive delivery and half with agile and hybrid approaches.

Is there a fixed passing score?

No. PMI sets the pass standard through psychometric analysis and does not publish a fixed percentage. You receive a pass or fail result with performance feedback across the four domains, so aim for solid coverage of all of them rather than one strong area.

What are the eligibility requirements to sit the exam?

A secondary degree, such as a high school diploma or global equivalent, plus at least 23 hours of project management education completed before the exam. No project management work experience is needed.

How do I book the exam in Switzerland?

Apply through your PMI account, and once approved, pay the exam fee and schedule through Pearson VUE. You can sit it at a Swiss test centre or take it from home through OnVUE online proctoring, within your one-year eligibility window.

    Course Content

Can a complete beginner take this course?

Yes. The programme assumes no prior project management background and builds from first principles, with case studies and exercises that turn the theory into something you can apply at work. That is exactly who this credential was designed for.

What is the CAPM syllabus based on?

The CAPM Examination Content Outline effective January 2023, drawing on the PMBOK Guide 8th Edition and PMI's Agile Practice Guide.

How many hours of training does the programme include?

24 hours of instructor-led training, delivered as three full days of eight hours, four days of six hours, or six half days of four hours, depending on the schedule you choose.

Does the training meet PMI's 23-hour education requirement?

Yes. The 24-hour programme exceeds the 23 hours of project management education PMI requires, so completing it satisfies that prerequisite in full. It qualifies as an instructor-led CAPM course under PMI's Authorized Training Partner programme.

Are practice questions and mock exams included?

Yes. You get practice questions aligned to the 150-question, three-hour closed-book format, plus quizzes and case studies that mirror the balance of predictive, agile and business analysis content in the exam.

What training formats are available in Lausanne?

Do I need to be a PMI member to enrol?

No. Anyone can enrol in the training. PMI membership is optional, though it lowers the exam fee and gives free access to the PMBOK Guide and the Agile Practice Guide.

Can I reschedule or move to another batch?
