    Is Jira training worth it in Botswana?

    Do I need any experience to learn Jira?

    No experience is needed for the Fundamentals level, which is designed for people new to Jira. The Advanced level assumes hands-on Jira experience at Fundamentals level or equivalent, as it covers workflow design, schemes, automation and administration.

    What is the difference between Fundamentals and Advanced?

    Fundamentals (2 days) covers projects, issues, Scrum and Kanban boards, sprints, filters, basic JQL and Agile reports. Advanced (3 days) covers workflow design, permission and notification schemes, custom fields, advanced JQL, dashboards, automation, integrations and Jira administration.

    Is Jira training a certification course?

    No. This is a non-certification, skills-focused course with no exam. Learning is reinforced through live, hands-on exercises, and you receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning that shows employers you can work confidently in Jira.

    Is there a cost for Jira software during the course?

    Jira Cloud offers a free tier for up to 10 users, which is enough for hands-on practice. You should have access to a Jira environment before the training; a free Jira Cloud trial is available from Atlassian. Confirm access arrangements when you enrol.

    Assessment

    Is there an exam for Jira training?

    No. Neither the Fundamentals nor the Advanced level includes an exam. Both are non-certification courses where learning is reinforced through live, hands-on Jira exercises throughout the programme.

    Will I get a certificate after the course?

    You receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning after completing the training. It is not a formal certification, as no awarding body or exam is involved, but it evidences the practical Jira skills you have built.

    How is my learning assessed during the training?

    There is no formal assessment. Instead, you build proficiency through hands-on exercises and configuration activities using realistic Agile delivery scenarios, so you practise every feature as the instructor demonstrates it.

    Do I need Jira access to practise during the course?

    Yes. Participants should have access to a Jira environment, such as a Jira Cloud free trial or free tier, so you can follow along and practise. Confirm whether a shared training environment is provided when you enrol.

    How long is each level of the training?

    Fundamentals runs over 2 days (16 hours) and Advanced runs over 3 days (24 hours). Both are available as full-day sessions or extended half-day formats to fit working schedules.

    Course Content

    What will I learn in the Jira Fundamentals course?

    Fundamentals covers navigating Jira, creating Scrum, Kanban and business projects, managing issues across Epics, Stories, Tasks, Bugs and Subtasks, running sprints, using Kanban boards and WIP limits, roadmaps and versions, filters, basic JQL and Agile reports.

    What does the Advanced course cover?

    Advanced covers custom workflow design with conditions, validators and post-functions, permission, notification, screen and field configuration schemes, custom fields, advanced JQL, dashboards, Jira automation, DevOps integrations and Jira administration.

    Does the course cover JQL and reporting?

    Yes. Fundamentals introduces filters and basic JQL along with velocity, burndown and cumulative flow reports. Advanced extends JQL with ORDER BY, time-based functions and the CHANGED and WAS operators, plus management dashboards built from gadgets.

    Which version of Jira does the training use?

    The training is delivered on current Jira Cloud, the primary way teams run Jira today, and the concepts also apply to Jira Data Center. Atlassian updates Jira Cloud regularly, and the course reflects the current feature set.

    Are practical exercises included in the training?

    Yes. Both levels are hands-on throughout. You follow along in a live Jira environment while the instructor demonstrates each feature, then practise with realistic Agile delivery and administration scenarios.
