    After PMI-CP

Fluent in construction contracts, claims and project governance at scale

    Before

Construction experience with no globally recognised project management credential

    Now you have

    Before

Progress limited to site-based roles with no formal project mandate

    Now you have

A clear route into contracts manager and construction programme manager roles

    Before

Strong technically, but exposed on contracts, claims and governance

    Now you have

The contract, governance and stakeholder skills major projects require

    Before

Recognition limited when you change employer or move abroad

    Now you have

A credential that travels across sectors and international construction markets

"On Tanzania's biggest projects, the gap between running a site and leading delivery is increasingly a recognised construction credential, and the employers that matter already know it."

The Construction Skills You Will BuildFrom Contracts to Project Governance

This programme maps directly to the four PMI-CP ECO domains, so you gain practical, job-ready capability in construction contracts, stakeholder engagement, strategy and scope, and project governance. By the end, you can lead complex construction projects and sit the exam with confidence.

Select Contract Types and Delivery Methods

Skills covered in PMI-CP begin with contracts: assess lump sum, cost-plus, GMP and unit-price contracts and delivery methods such as design-build, EPC and IPD, and advise on the risk allocation each structure creates on construction projects.

    Administer Contracts, Variations and Claims

Administer construction contracts end to end, from payment certifications and subcontracts to variation orders, insurance compliance, and the identification, notification and resolution of delay and disruption claims. This is the largest domain of the exam at 50%.

    Engage Owners, Regulators and Communities

Identify and analyse project stakeholders, then plan and manage engagement with owners, designers, authorities, financiers and communities so approvals, expectations and the project's social licence stay on track throughout delivery.

Define Project Strategy, Scope and Change Control

Develop the project execution plan, baseline the scope and work breakdown structure, and run a disciplined change management process that assesses the cost, schedule and risk impact of every scope change.

Control Schedule, Cost, Risk and Quality

Build and monitor the construction master schedule using critical path method, track cost with earned value, manage the risk register, and run quality assurance and control so deliverables meet contract requirements.

    Establish Project Governance and Reporting

Set up governance structures, decision rights and reporting frameworks, manage document control and audits, and maintain regulatory and ethical compliance across the construction project lifecycle.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

Yes. PMI-CP is a globally recognised construction project management credential, and Tanzania's fast-growing railway, road, water and energy programmes are creating strong demand for certified delivery leaders. It positions you for roles from construction project manager to contracts manager and senior programme manager, which command higher pay in the local market.

    General

Is the PMI-CP certification worth it for professionals in Tanzania?

Yes. PMI-CP is a globally recognised construction project management credential, and Tanzania's fast-growing railway, road, water and energy programmes are creating strong demand for certified delivery leaders. It positions you for roles from construction project manager to contracts manager and senior programme manager, which command higher pay in the local market.

What is the PMI Construction Professional (PMI-CP)?

The PMI-CP is PMI's specialist certification for the construction industry. It validates your ability to apply project management skills in a construction environment across four domains: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%), based on the current PMI-CP Examination Content Outline.

Who should take PMI-CP certification training?

It suits construction project managers, site managers, project engineers, quantity surveyors, owner's representatives and consultants who want to formalise construction project management expertise. It also complements the PMP for professionals working specifically in construction.

    Is PMP required before PMI-CP?

No. PMP is not a prerequisite for PMI-CP. You can apply based on your construction project management experience and education. The two are complementary: PMP validates broad project management competency, while PMI-CP validates construction-specific expertise.

    Is the PMI-CP recognised internationally?

Yes. As a PMI credential, PMI-CP carries global recognition through PMI's network across more than 200 countries. It is especially valued in international construction markets where clients and contractors seek a globally recognised project management credential.

    Pricing

What is included in the PMI-CP training fee?

Your fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, guidance on the four prerequisite modules, and application support, plus learner support and a course completion certificate with contact hours. Request a quote for current pricing in your region.

How much does PMI-CP training cost in Tanzania?

Training pricing varies by format and schedule, and is available on request. The PMI exam fee is billed separately by PMI in USD under regional pricing and is not part of the training fee. Talk to a learning advisor for a tailored quote.

How much is the PMI-CP exam fee?

PMI bills the PMI-CP exam fee in USD under regional pricing, and PMI members pay a lower rate than non-members. PMI membership also reduces renewal costs. Verify the current exam and membership fees on pmi.org before you apply.

Do you offer group or corporate discounts?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for site teams, project offices and leadership groups. Ask about corporate or group pricing for a tailored quote.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major cards and bank transfers, and offer instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

What is the format of the PMI-CP exam?

The PMI-CP exam has 120 questions and a 230-minute (3 hours 50 minutes) time limit. It is closed book with multiple-choice questions in single-answer and multiple-answer formats, delivered via Pearson VUE online proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

What are the PMI-CP exam domains and weights?

The exam covers four domains from the current PMI-CP ECO: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%). Contracts Management is the largest, reflecting how central contracts are to construction delivery.

What are the prerequisites for the PMI-CP exam?

You must complete all four mandatory self-paced course modules, then meet one of three experience sets: a secondary diploma with 60 months construction PM experience, a bachelor's degree with 36 months, or a GAC-accredited degree with 24 months, each within the past 10 years, plus 35 contact hours of PM education.

What is the passing score, and how many attempts do I get?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score that is not published as a fixed number; results are reported with domain-level feedback. You get up to three attempts within the one-year eligibility window from application approval.

How long is PMI-CP valid and how do I renew it?

PMI-CP is valid for three years. To renew, earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle (at least 8 in each area) within the cycle and pay the renewal fee. The 56 PDUs from the four prerequisite modules can be applied toward renewal.

    Course Content

What will I learn in the PMI-CP training?

You will learn to select and administer construction contracts, manage variations and claims, engage owners and regulators, define scope and change control, and manage schedule, cost, risk, quality and governance. The syllabus maps directly to the four PMI-CP ECO domains.

What are the four mandatory prerequisite modules?

Before applying, you must complete four self-paced modules in any order, each a 6 to 10 hour commitment awarding 14 PDUs: Project Communications, Interface Management, Scope and Change Order Management, and Contract and Risk Management, totalling 56 PDUs.

Can a construction professional without a PM title take this?

Yes. PMI-CP experience refers to managing construction projects, covering scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety and stakeholders, and is not limited to a formal PM title. Site managers and engineers with the required experience are well suited to the credential.

Are practice questions and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions and full-length mock exams mapped to the 120-question, 230-minute PMI-CP format, plus topic-wise revision, to help you identify weak areas and build exam readiness.

Does this training meet the 35 contact hours requirement?

The instructor-led programme delivers 32 contact hours, which is close to but below the 35 contact hours of PM education PMI requires. Check with our team whether supplementary self-study or pre-reading is credited toward the 35-hour requirement before you apply.
