What Is Fuelling Demand for Risk Skills in Rwanda

    Infrastructure Programme Complexity

Rwanda is funding roads, sewerage, transport hubs and irrigation under NST2. Large, concurrent works demand structured risk identification, aggregation and response that few teams are trained to deliver.

PMI-RMP builds programme risk and coordination skills

    Tighter Financial Sector Governance

The Financial Sector Development Strategy 2025-2030 raises the bar on resilience and controls. Banks and insurers now need change programmes governed by disciplined, evidence-based risk management.

PMI-RMP builds analysis and response capability

    Rapid Digital and Fintech Growth

Fast ICT and fintech adoption creates delivery, security and integration risk. Organisations increasingly want professionals who can plan responses before problems derail a rollout.

PMI-RMP builds threat and opportunity assessment skills

    Specialist Risk Talent Shortage

Rwanda's talent pool is deep in project managers but thin in credentialed risk specialists. A recognised PMI credential and specialist skills make holders rare and sought-after.

PMI-RMP makes certified risk professionals stand out

    Capital Discipline and Value Protection

Public and private funders demand value for money. Structured risk analysis, contingency and reserve planning help organisations protect budgets and avoid costly overruns.

PMI-RMP builds quantitative risk analysis skills

High Project Failure and Overrun Risk

Complex programmes still slip on cost and schedule when risks go untracked. Trained risk professionals monitor triggers, act early and close risks before they escalate.

Prioritise risks with a probability and impact matrix, then apply Monte Carlo simulation, decision trees, sensitivity analysis and expected monetary value to quantify their effect on cost, schedule and scope.

    Plan and Implement Risk Responses

Select the right strategy for threats and opportunities, from avoid, transfer and mitigate to exploit, share and enhance. Assign owners, set triggers, and build contingency and fallback plans into the project.

    Monitor, Report and Close Risks

Track triggers and residual risks, run periodic risk reviews, report exposure to stakeholders, and formally close risks with lessons learned so the organisation improves on every future programme.

Apply Agile and Hybrid Risk Approaches

Reflect the January 2022 ECO by managing risk in agile and hybrid environments, and prepare for the 115-question, closed-book PMI-RMP exam with practice mapped to all five domains.

    Exam

What is the format of the PMI-RMP exam?

The PMI-RMP exam is closed book with multiple-choice questions in single-answer and multiple-answer formats. It is delivered through Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre, and is based on the January 2022 ECO.

How many questions are on the PMI-RMP exam?

The exam has 115 questions and you have 2.5 hours (150 minutes) to complete it. Questions are scenario-based and require you to apply risk tools and techniques, not just recall facts.

What are the PMI-RMP exam domains and weights?

The 2022 ECO defines five domains: Risk Strategy and Planning (20%), Risk Identification (20%), Risk Analysis (23%), Risk Response (22%) and Monitor and Close Risks (15%).

What is the passing score for the PMI-RMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed pass mark. The result is set through psychometric analysis, and performance is reported by domain as Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement. Aim for broad mastery across all five domains.

What happens if I do not pass the exam?

You have up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period from application approval. Re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts. Our mock exams and prep support are designed to help you pass with confidence.

    Course Content

Can a beginner to formal risk management take this course?

Yes. The training builds from the fundamentals through to advanced tools, so professionals new to formal risk management can follow it. To sit the exam you must also meet PMI's risk experience and education requirements.

What topics are covered in the PMI-RMP training?

The programme covers the five ECO domains: risk strategy and planning, identification, analysis, response, and monitoring and closing. It includes qualitative and quantitative tools, plus risk in predictive, agile and hybrid delivery.

Does this training satisfy the PMI-RMP education requirement?

The programme provides 32 contact hours of risk management education, which fully meets the 30-hour requirement for Set B and Set C candidates. Set A candidates need 40 hours and should add supplementary training.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. You get practice questions and full-length mock exams mapped to the 115-question, closed-book format, plus topic-wise quizzes that help you spot weak areas and build exam readiness.

Is the courseware aligned with the current PMI-RMP syllabus?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the PMI-RMP Examination Content Outline effective January 2022 and PMI's Practice Standard for Project Risk Management.

    Enrollment

What are the eligibility requirements for PMI-RMP?

PMI offers three routes. Set A: a secondary diploma plus 36 months of risk experience and 40 hours of education. Set B: a four-year degree plus 24 months and 30 hours. Set C: a GAC-accredited degree plus 12 months and 30 hours, all within the last five years.

How soon can I start and how do I enrol?

Can I reschedule or transfer my enrolment?
