    General

What is the EXIN Agile Scrum Foundation certification?

The EXIN Agile Scrum Foundation (ASF) is an entry-level certification that validates your understanding of the agile way of working and the Scrum framework. Governed by EXIN, it is the first level in the EXIN Agile Scrum scheme and the recognised starting point for a career in agile delivery.

Is the Agile Scrum Foundation certification worth it in Rwanda?

Yes. As Rwanda's technology, banking and public sectors adopt agile delivery, employers increasingly expect team members to understand Scrum. ASF gives you a globally recognised credential and the shared vocabulary agile teams use, helping you stand out for entry-level and team roles.

Who should take the Agile Scrum Foundation course?

It suits anyone new to agile: developers, testers, business analysts, project coordinators, managers working with Scrum teams, and career changers. No prior agile or Scrum knowledge is required, so complete beginners can start with confidence.

Do I need any prior experience or prerequisites?

No. EXIN Agile Scrum Foundation has no formal prerequisites. It is open to everyone regardless of education, work experience or prior agile knowledge, making it an accessible first agile credential.

How long is the ASF certification valid?

The EXIN Agile Scrum Foundation certification is valid for lifetime. It does not expire, and there is no renewal, re-examination or continuing education requirement once you pass.

What comes after the Agile Scrum Foundation certification?

The recommended next step is the EXIN Agile Scrum Master (ASM), the intermediate level in the EXIN Agile Scrum scheme. ASF provides the foundational knowledge recommended before you pursue the Scrum Master credential.

How many questions are on the ASF exam and how long is it?

The exam has 40 multiple-choice questions and a time limit of 60 minutes (1 hour). It is closed book, so preparation with mock exams helps you manage time on the day.

What is the passing score for the ASF exam?

You need 65% to pass, which means answering at least 26 of the 40 questions correctly. Focusing on broad understanding across all five topic areas is the best way to prepare.

What topics does the ASF exam cover?

The exam covers five topic areas from the EXIN Agile Scrum Foundation Examination Specification: Agile Way of Thinking, Scrum Practices, Scrum Planning and Estimation, Monitoring Scrum Projects and Advanced Scrum Concepts.

What if I do not pass on the first attempt?

You can re-sit the EXIN exam. Our training includes mock exams and first-attempt guidance to help you pass, and selected packages offer retake support. Confirm the current re-sit policy and fees with EXIN or your advisor.

How is the ASF exam delivered in Rwanda?

You can take the exam online through EXIN's online proctoring from home or office, or at an EXIN accredited test location. It is typically scheduled through your EXIN Accredited Training Provider as part of a training and exam bundle.
