    For Individuals

Green Belt training helps professionals turn hands-on process knowledge into a recognised, data-driven credential. The programme suits quality engineers, process engineers, operations staff and team leads who support or run improvement projects alongside their day job. Whether you work on a pharmaceutical line in Barceloneta, a medical device plant in Juncos, or a service operation in San Juan, the DMAIC toolkit applies directly to the problems you face.

If you want to prove your improvement skills to employers and open the door to senior quality and operational excellence roles, the Green Belt is a clear next step. You gain a structured method, an independent IASSC credential, and the confidence to deliver measurable results.

Green Belt group training helps organisations build measurable improvement capability by equipping teams with a structured DMAIC method and Lean tools. For manufacturers under pressure to protect quality while controlling cost, this training creates a workforce that can find, fix and sustain process gains.

If your operation struggles with variation, scrap or audit findings, Green Belt training gives teams a common method to diagnose root causes and lock in improvements. You build a culture of evidence-based decisions that scales as your portfolio of projects grows.

    • Builds a shared DMAIC language across quality, production and operations teams
    • Reduces defects, scrap and rework to protect margins under cost pressure
    • Strengthens readiness for FDA and regulatory audits through stronger process control
    • Speeds up ramp-up and stabilisation of newly reshored production lines
    • Develops in-house improvement capability instead of relying on outside consultants
    • Standardises continuous improvement practice across multiple sites
    • Offers flexible delivery that fits shift patterns and plant schedules

What Is Fuelling Green Belt Demand in Puerto Rico

    Pharma Reshoring Surge

Reshoring and FDA policy are bringing new pharmaceutical and device lines to the island, and every new line needs people who can stabilise processes and control variation from day one.

Green Belt skills meet rising plant demand

    FDA Quality and Compliance Pressure

Highly regulated plants must prove tight process control during FDA audits, so employers value Green Belts who can reduce defects and document capability with hard data.

    DMAIC strengthens regulated quality systems

    Margin and Cost Discipline

Puerto Rico competes on efficiency as much as its tax and wage advantages, pushing manufacturers to cut scrap, rework and cycle time through structured Lean Six Sigma projects.

    Green Belt builds waste-reduction skills

    Process Improvement Talent Gap

The island has a deep pool of skilled operators but far fewer certified improvement specialists, so an IASSC Green Belt helps professionals stand out to hiring managers.

Certification makes Green Belts stand out

    Scaling New Lines at Speed

Fresh investment means new facilities ramping up fast, where weak process control causes yield loss and delays that trained Green Belts are hired to prevent.

Green Belt supports fast, stable ramp-up

    Service and Healthcare Efficiency

Hospitals, banks and shared-services centres in San Juan increasingly apply DMAIC to patient flow, transaction errors and turnaround time, widening demand for Green Belt skills.

DMAIC applies beyond the factory floor

Skills You Will Build in This ProgrammeAcross Every Phase of DMAIC

This Green Belt programme takes you through all five DMAIC phases of the IASSC Body of Knowledge. By the end, you can lead a scoped improvement project end to end, from defining the problem to controlling and sustaining the result.

    Define and Scope Improvement Projects

Skills covered in the Green Belt start here: build a business case and project charter, capture the voice of the customer, define critical-to-quality characteristics, and frame problems using Y equals f of x to launch a focused DMAIC project.

    Measure Processes with Hard Data

Map processes with SIPOC and value stream maps, build cause and effect and FMEA analyses, run measurement system analysis, and assess process capability so you can size the problem with reliable, trustworthy data.

    Analyze Root Causes Statistically

Apply descriptive and inferential statistics, hypothesis testing with normal and non-normal data, t-tests, ANOVA and chi-squared methods to separate the vital few root causes from background noise.

    Improve with Regression and Experiments

Use simple and multiple regression, plus an introduction to designed experiments and full factorial methods, to model relationships, test solutions and confirm which changes genuinely move the process.

    Control and Sustain the Gains

Hold improvements with statistical process control charts, Lean controls such as Kanban and Poka-Yoke, and structured control and response plans so results last well after the project closes.

Apply Lean Tools to Cut Waste

Put Lean principles to work with 5S, the seven wastes, value stream mapping and mistake-proofing, integrated within DMAIC to reduce cycle time and cost across manufacturing and service processes.

    General

Is the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt worth it in Puerto Rico?

Yes. With the island home to the world's densest cluster of pharmaceutical and medical device plants, certified Green Belts are in demand for quality and process improvement roles. Certified Green Belt pay in Puerto Rico averages around $115,800 in 2026, and the credential transfers across sectors.

What is the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification?

The Lean Six Sigma Green Belt is an intermediate credential, governed by IASSC, that validates your ability to run data-driven improvement projects using the five-phase DMAIC method. It proves you can reduce defects, cycle time and waste at a project level.

Who should take this Green Belt training?

It suits quality engineers, process engineers, operations staff, team leads and anyone who supports or runs improvement projects. It also fits service professionals in healthcare, banking and shared services who want to apply DMAIC to their processes.

Do I need prior experience or a Yellow Belt first?

No. IASSC sets no prerequisites for the Green Belt, so a Yellow Belt is not required. Training and real-world experience are recommended but not mandatory, and our programme builds the statistics and tools from the ground up.

How long is the certification valid?

The IASSC Green Belt certification holds Current status for three years from the date you certify. To maintain it, you pass a shorter recertification exam before the elapse date, keeping your credential valid for another three-year cycle.

What is included in the Green Belt training fee?

    Exam

What is the format of the IASSC Green Belt exam?

The IASSC Green Belt exam is closed book with 100 questions in multiple-choice and true/false form, spread roughly evenly across the five DMAIC phases. Some forms add up to 10 unscored pretest questions that do not count towards your result.

How long is the exam and what is the passing score?

You have three hours to complete the exam, and you need a minimum of 385 out of 550 points to pass. Focus on broad mastery across all five DMAIC phases, since questions are distributed across each phase.

Where can I sit the Green Belt exam?

You can take it through the IASSC web-based, online-proctored system, available on demand around the clock, or at a Pearson VUE test centre. Both options are accessible from Puerto Rico, so you can choose what suits you.

What is the exam application process?

You purchase an exam voucher from the official IASSC ordering site, choose online-proctored or test-centre delivery, then schedule and sit the exam. An optional, non-proctored evaluation exam is available beforehand to check your readiness.

What happens if I do not pass the first time?

You can re-sit the exam by purchasing another voucher. Our mock exams, practice questions and trainer support are designed to build your readiness so you walk in prepared. Selected training plans also include added revision support.

    Course Content

What topics does the Green Belt training cover?

The training covers all five DMAIC phases: Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control. It includes core statistics, hypothesis testing, regression, an introduction to designed experiments, statistical process control and Lean tools such as 5S and Poka-Yoke.

Can a beginner follow this course?

Yes. The course assumes no prior Lean Six Sigma background and builds the statistics and tools step by step. Hands-on exercises and trainer support help beginners apply each concept, while a project component reinforces practical understanding.

Is the courseware aligned to the latest IASSC syllabus?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current IASSC Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Body of Knowledge, structured across the five DMAIC phases, so what you study matches what the exam evaluates.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions and full-length mock exams modelled on the IASSC closed-book format, plus topic-wise checks that help you find weak areas and build exam readiness.

    How long is the training?

The Green Belt training runs for a total of 32 hours, delivered in flexible schedules such as intensive full days or extended part-day formats. Choose the schedule that best fits your work and study commitments.

    Enrollment

How soon can I start and how do I enrol?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website, choose your format, complete payment, and receive access to schedules and learning resources. New batches run regularly, so see upcoming schedules or talk to an advisor to pick a start date.

    What training formats are available?

We offer live online (live virtual) instructor-led training, classroom training, and customised corporate group training. This lets you learn in the format that best fits your schedule, location and team needs in Puerto Rico.

Are there any eligibility requirements to enrol?

Anyone can enrol in the training, as IASSC sets no prerequisites for the Green Belt. Some prior process or quality exposure helps, but the programme is built to take complete beginners through to exam readiness.

Can I reschedule or transfer to another batch?

Yes. Flexible options let you reschedule or move to another batch where seats allow. Contact our support team to arrange a change and they will confirm the options that apply to your enrolment.

What support do I get after the training?

You receive post-training support including access to learning resources, exam guidance and trainer help where included in your plan. Talk to a learning advisor to confirm the support that comes with your chosen format.
