Is Kaizen a recognised method?

Course Content

What topics does the Kaizen training cover?

The programme covers six modules: the Kaizen philosophy, the PDCA cycle and thinking tools, planning a Kaizen event, running an event phase by phase, Kaizen tools in practice (5S, standard work, spaghetti diagram, Kaizen newspaper) and sustaining continuous improvement.

How long is the Kaizen course?

The course is delivered in one day (8 hours), or as two half-day sessions of 4 hours. It covers the full Kaizen method with hands-on workshop simulation exercises throughout.

What practical exercises are included?

You take part in workshop simulations where you practise Gemba observation, waste identification, root cause analysis with 5 Whys and Fishbone diagrams, and future-state design, so you can plan and facilitate a Kaizen event during the session.

What tools will I learn to use?

You learn the PDCA cycle, the eight wastes (DOWNTIME), Gemba walks, 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, 5S, standard work, spaghetti diagrams, time observation and the Kaizen newspaper for tracking actions.

Is the course suitable for non-manufacturing teams?

Yes. While Kaizen began in manufacturing, the method applies in healthcare, logistics, financial services, IT and any setting where teams want continuous, sustainable process improvement.
