    What is the format of the Black Belt exam?

    The exam is closed book with 150 multiple-choice questions and a four-hour time limit. A reference document with the required formulas and tables is provided, and some forms add up to 15 unscored questions.

    How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

    There are 150 scored multiple-choice questions, each worth one mark, with a four-hour (240-minute) window. Non-native English speakers may receive an additional 60 minutes.

    What is the passing score?

    You need a minimum of 580 out of 750 points to pass. The exam covers the five DMAIC phases, weighted heaviest toward Analyze, Control and Measure.

    What is the exam application process?

    Review the IASSC Black Belt Body of Knowledge, optionally take the non-proctored evaluation exam, then buy your exam voucher and choose online proctored or a Pearson VUE test center. Schedule, sit the exam, and receive your result and digital badge on passing.

    How is the exam delivered?

    You can take it online with 24/7 web-based proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test center. Both options use the same closed-book, multiple-choice format.

    What happens if I do not pass the first time?
