What is the PgMP certification and who is it for?

The Program Management Professional (PgMP) is PMI's senior credential for professionals who coordinate multiple related projects as a programme to deliver strategic benefits. It suits senior programme managers, PMO leaders, directors of delivery and PMP holders moving into programme roles.

Is PMP required before I take PgMP?

No. PMP is not a mandatory prerequisite. However, an active PMP satisfies the project management experience requirement across all three eligibility sets, so PMP holders only need to document their programme management experience hours.

Is the PgMP recognised in Mongolia and internationally?

Yes. PgMP is a globally recognised PMI credential referenced by senior employers in over 200 countries, including Mongolian organisations in mining, banking, infrastructure and energy that run large, strategy-critical programmes.

How long is the PgMP certification valid?

PgMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle (Ways of Working, Power Skills and Business Acumen), with at least 8 PDUs in each area, within every three-year continuing certification cycle.

What is included in the PgMP course fee?

How much does PgMP training cost in Mongolia?

Training fees vary by format and provider and are available on request. The PMI exam fee is billed separately in USD under regional pricing and is not part of the training fee. Talk to a learning advisor for a tailored quote.

Is the PMI exam fee included in the training price?

No. PMI bills the PgMP exam fee separately in USD. For reference, it is around USD 800 for PMI members and USD 1,000 for non-members; verify current fees on pmi.org before applying, as PMI periodically updates pricing.

What if I do not pass the PgMP exam the first time?

You get up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period from application approval. Re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts. Our training and practice materials are built to support a confident first attempt.

How many questions are on the PgMP exam and how long is it?

The PgMP exam has 170 questions and a four-hour allotted time. It is closed book and uses multiple-choice question formats, based on the PgMP Examination Content Outline and the Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition.

What are the PgMP exam domains and their weights?

Five performance domains: Strategic Program Management (11%), Program Life Cycle Management (44%), Benefits Management (11%), Stakeholder Engagement (16%) and Governance (18%).

What is the PgMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to PgMP. A panel of programme management practitioners evaluates your documented experience and competency. It is a mandatory step alongside the written exam; both must be passed to earn the credential.

Where can I take the PgMP exam?

You can take it online through Pearson VUE's OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre. Scheduling is done through PMI's portal or the Pearson VUE website within your one-year eligibility window.

Course Content

Can I take PgMP training without senior experience?

Anyone can attend the training, but sitting the exam requires substantial experience. PMI needs programme management experience plus project management experience (or an active PMP), all within the past 15 years, under one of three eligibility sets.

What topics are covered in the PgMP training?

The training covers the five PgMP domains: Strategic Program Management, Program Life Cycle Management, Benefits Management, Stakeholder Engagement and Governance, plus guidance on the application, panel review and exam strategy.

Is the courseware aligned to the current PgMP standard?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to PMI's Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition, and the current PgMP Examination Content Outline, so you prepare against the exact framework the exam tests.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions, full-length mock exams and topic-wise quizzes mapped to the five domains, so you can identify weak areas and build exam readiness.

Will I receive a certificate after the training?

Yes. After meeting the course requirements you receive a course completion certificate along with the contact hours earned through the programme, which support your PgMP preparation.

What are the eligibility requirements to sit the exam?
