The Real Value of Learning Microsoft ProjectSkills You Apply from Day One

    For Individuals

    For Individuals

Microsoft Project skills give planners and managers the confidence to move from spreadsheets to a proper scheduling tool. You learn to build a schedule, link tasks, assign resources and track progress the way experienced project professionals do. Whether you coordinate site works in construction, manage IT delivery, or plan resources on a capital programme, the training turns everyday planning tasks into repeatable, controlled processes you can apply immediately at work.

If you want to plan and report on projects with the tool employers actually use, this course is a direct, practical route. You leave able to schedule, resource, baseline, track and report, and to progress into more senior planning and project roles over time.

    • Plan and control project schedules with structured, dependency-linked task plans
    • Assign and balance work, material and cost resources without over-allocation
    • Read and manage the critical path to protect delivery dates
    • Set baselines and track actual progress against plan with clear variance analysis
    • Produce professional Gantt charts and status reports leadership can trust
    • Manage costs and Earned Value on complex, multi-phase projects at Advanced level
    • Work confidently on oil and gas, construction and IT project schedules
    • Build a transferable software skill valued across Kazakhstan and global employers
    For Organizations

    For Organizations

Group training helps organisations lift the whole planning function at once. Teams learn a shared approach to scheduling, resourcing and tracking in Microsoft Project, so schedules and reports become consistent and comparable across projects. For PMOs and delivery teams in Kazakhstan managing large, concurrent portfolios, this shared standard reduces rework, improves forecasting and makes status reporting far easier to consolidate.

If your projects are planned in inconsistent spreadsheets, Microsoft Project group training creates one common scheduling language. Managers and planners gain a standardised method for building, baselining and controlling schedules that scales across business units.

    • Standardises how teams build, baseline and report on project schedules
    • Improves resource visibility and reduces costly over-allocation
    • Connects planning to cost and Earned Value for better control
    • Gives PMOs a consistent Microsoft Project reporting standard
    • Enables customised, role-based training for planners and managers
    • Supports master-project and programme-level scheduling across teams
    • Delivers flexible virtual, classroom and onsite formats for busy teams
    • Builds stronger in-house scheduling capability that stays with the organisation

Market Forces Driving Demand for Project Scheduling Skills

    Mega-Project Scheduling Complexity

Caspian developments at Tengiz, Kashagan and Karachaganak run thousands of interdependent activities, demanding planners who can build, sequence and control large schedules in Microsoft Project.

Microsoft Project builds critical-path and scheduling skills

    Strategy-To-Delivery Visibility Gap

Leadership funds ambitious programmes but often lacks reliable schedule visibility. Baselines, variance tracking and clear reporting are exactly the skills that close this gap.

Microsoft Project builds baseline and tracking skills

    Pace of Digital Transformation

With 2026 named the Year of Digitalisation and AI, IT teams and Astana Hub firms are delivering more projects at once, needing structured scheduling to keep timelines and resources under control.

Microsoft Project builds IT delivery scheduling skills

    Scarce Structured Scheduling Skills

Kazakhstan has a deep project workforce but relatively few people fluent in a dedicated scheduling tool. Confident Microsoft Project users are in short supply and highly valued.

Microsoft Project skills make planners stand out

    Cost and Resource Control Pressure

Capital discipline in oil, gas and construction pushes teams to control resources and costs tightly. Resource levelling and Earned Value in Microsoft Project turn that pressure into managed delivery.

Microsoft Project builds resourcing and cost skills

    Rising Reporting and Governance Expectations

Boards and PMOs expect consistent, comparable status reports across projects. Custom views, reports and master projects let planners report to leadership with clarity and confidence.

Skills You Will Build in Microsoft ProjectFrom First Schedule to Full Control

This hands-on programme takes you from your first schedule to full control of complex, multi-project plans. By the end, you can build, resource, baseline, track, cost and report on projects using Microsoft Project with confidence.

Build Schedules and Work Breakdown Structures

What you will learn in Microsoft Project starts with the core: create a project file, configure calendars, and build a work breakdown structure of summary tasks, subtasks, milestones and durations that forms the backbone of any schedule.

Link Tasks and Manage the Critical Path

Link tasks with Finish-to-Start, Start-to-Start, Finish-to-Finish and Start-to-Finish dependencies, apply lag and lead time, and read the critical path so you know exactly which tasks drive the project finish date.

    Assign and Balance Resources

Create work, material and cost resources, assign them with the right units, and spot and resolve over-allocation so your plan is realistic and deliverable rather than optimistic on paper.

    Set Baselines and Track Progress

Set a project baseline, record actual progress with percent complete and actual values, and use the Tracking Gantt and variance tables to see what is ahead, on track or slipping.

    Manage Costs and Earned Value

At Advanced level, manage budgets and costs, run resource levelling, and calculate Earned Value metrics such as SPI, CPI and EAC to report project performance with real evidence.

    Report and Manage Multiple Projects

Build custom fields, views, filters and visual reports, then consolidate work into master projects with cross-project links to plan and report at programme level across teams.

    Is the training hands-on?

Yes. Both levels are delivered as instructor-led sessions with live Microsoft Project exercises throughout. You follow along in the tool on realistic project scenarios, building proficiency through practice rather than theory alone.

    What learning materials are provided?

You receive structured courseware, guided exercises, realistic project scenarios and reference materials that reinforce each module. These help you apply the concepts directly to your own projects at work.

How long is each level and how are the hours split?

Fundamentals is 2 days totalling 16 hours, and Advanced is 3 days totalling 24 hours. Both are available as full-day or extended half-day sessions, so you can choose the schedule that fits your team.

    Assessment

Is there an exam at the end of the training?

No. This is a non-certification skills course with no examination at either level. Learning is reinforced through hands-on Microsoft Project exercises on realistic scenarios throughout the programme.

Do I receive anything on completion?

Yes. You receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning after completing each level. It records the training you attended and the hours covered; it is a record of completion rather than a formal credential.

    How is my learning assessed?

There is no formal assessment. Instead, you build and demonstrate skills through practical exercises during the sessions, working on realistic schedules so you can apply the same techniques immediately in your own projects.

Will these skills help with project management methodologies?

Yes. Microsoft Project is the scheduling tool used to apply methodologies such as PMI's PMBOK Guide and PRINCE2, including critical path and Earned Value techniques. The skills complement project management training and put those principles into practice.

Do I need Microsoft Project installed for the training?

Yes. You should have Microsoft Project installed and accessible on your device so you can complete the hands-on exercises. We can advise on desktop and Project Online options and any trial licence when you enrol.

    Enrollment

How do I enrol in the course?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose Fundamentals, Advanced or both, select your preferred format, and you will receive access to schedules, courseware and joining details. Contact a learning advisor if you need help choosing a level.

    What training formats are available?

We offer live virtual (online) instructor-led training, classroom sessions, and customised corporate onsite training for teams. Choose the format that best fits your schedule and location in Kazakhstan.

    How soon can I start?

New batches run regularly across both levels. See upcoming schedules for the next available dates, or ask an advisor about corporate sessions arranged around your team's availability.

Can I reschedule or transfer my enrolment?

Yes. Flexible options let you reschedule or transfer to another batch on selected plans. Contact support to arrange this and to confirm the terms that apply to your enrolment.

Can you train my whole team together?

Yes. Corporate group training is delivered onsite or live virtual, tailored to your projects and scheduled around your team. Get in touch for a group quote and a delivery plan that fits your organisation.
