    Is Microsoft Project training worth it for my career?

    Yes. Microsoft Project is the default scheduling tool on Kazakhstan's largest oil and gas, construction and IT projects, so the skill is in real demand. Planner and scheduler roles average around KZT 8.2M a year, with senior project roles reaching higher, and confident users stand out to employers.

    What are the two levels of the course?

    The training runs at two levels. Fundamentals (2 days, 16 hours) covers project setup, task scheduling, dependencies, resources, baselines and tracking. Advanced (3 days, 24 hours) adds resource levelling, cost management, Earned Value, custom reports and master projects. You can take either level or both in sequence.

    Do I need prior experience to attend?

    For Fundamentals, no. Basic familiarity with Windows and Microsoft Office is helpful but not required. For Advanced, you should have completed Fundamentals or have hands-on experience using Microsoft Project already.

    What is included in the course fee?

    Do you offer group or corporate discounts?

    Is a Microsoft Project software licence included?

    No. Microsoft Project is a separate product from Microsoft Corporation, available as desktop Standard and Professional or as Project Online in Microsoft 365. You should have it installed and accessible for the exercises. We can advise on trial options when you enrol.

    Course Content

    What topics does the Fundamentals level cover?

    Fundamentals covers the Microsoft Project interface, project setup and calendars, work breakdown structures, task dependencies and the critical path, work, material and cost resources, over-allocation, baselines, progress tracking and built-in reports.

    What does the Advanced level add?

    Advanced adds task types and advanced scheduling, resource pools and levelling, cost management and Earned Value (SPI, CPI, EAC), custom fields, views, filters and visual reports, master projects with cross-project links, and what-if scenario planning.

    Is the training hands-on?

    Yes. Both levels are delivered as instructor-led sessions with live Microsoft Project exercises throughout. You follow along in the tool on realistic project scenarios, building proficiency through practice rather than theory alone.

    What learning materials are provided?

    You receive structured courseware, guided exercises, realistic project scenarios and reference materials that reinforce each module. These help you apply the concepts directly to your own projects at work.

    How long is each level and how are the hours split?

    Fundamentals is 2 days totalling 16 hours, and Advanced is 3 days totalling 24 hours. Both are available as full-day or extended half-day sessions, so you can choose the schedule that fits your team.

    Assessment

    Is there an exam at the end of the training?

    No. This is a non-certification skills course with no examination at either level. Learning is reinforced through hands-on Microsoft Project exercises on realistic scenarios throughout the programme.

    Do I receive anything on completion?

    Yes. You receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning after completing each level. It records the training you attended and the hours covered; it is a record of completion rather than a formal credential.

    How is my learning assessed?

    There is no formal assessment. Instead, you build and demonstrate skills through practical exercises during the sessions, working on realistic schedules so you can apply the same techniques immediately in your own projects.

    Will these skills help with project management methodologies?

    Yes. Microsoft Project is the scheduling tool used to apply methodologies such as PMI's PMBOK Guide and PRINCE2, including critical path and Earned Value techniques. The skills complement project management training and put those principles into practice.

    Do I need Microsoft Project installed for the training?

    Yes. You should have Microsoft Project installed and accessible on your device so you can complete the hands-on exercises. We can advise on desktop and Project Online options and any trial licence when you enrol.
