    What is the format of the PfMP exam?

    The PfMP exam is a closed-book, computer-based, multiple-choice examination based on the PfMP Examination Content Outline and The Standard for Portfolio Management, Fourth Edition. It uses scenario and situational questions across the five performance domains.

    How many questions are on the PfMP exam and how long is it?

    The exam has 170 questions and a four-hour (240-minute) allotted time. It is delivered online through Pearson VUE OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

    What is the passing score for the PfMP exam?

    PMI does not publish a fixed percentage pass mark. The result is determined through psychometric analysis, with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so focus on broad mastery across all five domains.

    What is the PfMP panel review?

    The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to the PfMP. A panel of portfolio management practitioners evaluates your documented portfolio experience and competency. Both the panel review and the written exam must be passed to earn the credential.

    What happens if I do not pass the exam?

    PMI allows up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period. Reexamination fees apply to the second and third attempts. Our mock exams, simulator and trainer guidance are designed to help you prepare thoroughly for your first attempt.

    The courseware is aligned to The Standard for Portfolio Management, Fourth Edition, and the current PfMP Examination Content Outline. The 4th edition is the reference framework PMI uses for the exam.
