Is Jira training a certification course?

No. This is a non-certification skills course with no exam. You build practical capability through hands-on exercises and receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning. Jira itself is a product of Atlassian, not a certifying body.

Do I need any prior experience to learn Jira?

Not for the Fundamentals level, which is designed for people new to Jira. Basic familiarity with web applications is enough. The Advanced level assumes hands-on Jira experience or completion of Fundamentals.

Should I take the Fundamentals or Advanced level?

Choose Fundamentals if you are new to Jira or use it occasionally and want core skills in projects, issues, boards and reporting. Choose Advanced if you already use Jira and want workflows, schemes, JQL, automation, integrations and administration.

How is Jira used by companies in Ireland?

Do I need a paid Jira licence for the training?

Assessment

Is there an exam for Jira training?

No. Neither the Fundamentals nor the Advanced level has an exam. Learning is reinforced through live, hands-on Jira exercises and configuration activities throughout each course.

What certificate do I receive after the course?

You receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning after finishing the training. This recognises the practical Jira skills you have built and is not a formal certification, as the course does not have an awarding body.

How are the skills assessed during training?

There is no formal assessment. Instead, you build proficiency by working through realistic Agile delivery scenarios in Jira alongside the trainer, applying each feature as it is taught so the learning sticks.

How long is the training and how many hours?

The Fundamentals level runs over two days (16 hours) and the Advanced level over three days (24 hours). Both are available as full-day sessions or extended half-day formats to suit working schedules.

Will I get hands-on practice in a real Jira environment?

Yes. The training is hands-on throughout. You follow along in a Jira environment, creating projects, running sprints, writing JQL and building workflows and automation as the trainer demonstrates each feature.

What topics does the Jira Fundamentals course cover?

Fundamentals covers navigating Jira, creating Scrum, Kanban and business projects, managing issues, running sprints on the Scrum board, using the Kanban board, roadmaps and versions, and building filters, basic JQL and Agile reports.

What does the Jira Advanced course cover?

Advanced covers custom workflows with conditions, validators and post-functions, permission, notification, screen and field configuration schemes, custom fields, advanced JQL, dashboards, Jira automation, DevOps integrations and Jira administration.

Will I learn JQL and Jira automation?

Yes. You learn basic JQL in Fundamentals and advanced JQL in the Advanced course, including CHANGED and WAS operators. The Advanced course also covers Jira automation triggers, conditions, actions and smart values for no-code rules.

Does the course cover Scrum and Kanban boards?

Yes. You learn to run full Scrum delivery with backlogs, sprints, velocity and burndown, and to manage continuous flow with Kanban boards, WIP limits and cumulative flow diagrams, which are core parts of the Fundamentals level.

Are DevOps integrations covered?

Yes, in the Advanced course. You learn to connect Jira to Confluence, Bitbucket, GitHub and CI/CD pipelines, link commits and pull requests to issues, and track builds and deployments for end-to-end DevOps traceability.
