What Is the CAPM Certification and Who Is It For?UntitledYour Entry Route into Project Management

The Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) is the Project Management Institute's entry level credential for people who want to prove they understand how projects are planned, executed and delivered. It is the only PMI practitioner credential that requires no project work experience, so it suits students, recent graduates, career changers and project team members stepping into delivery roles in Ireland. The exam is built on the CAPM Examination Content Outline effective January 2023 and draws on the PMBOK Guide Eighth Edition and the Agile Practice Guide. It covers four domains: Project Management Fundamentals and Core Concepts (36 per cent), Predictive Plan-Based Methodologies (17 per cent), Agile Frameworks and Methodologies (20 per cent) and Business Analysis Frameworks (27 per cent). You answer 150 multiple choice questions in 3 hours, online through Pearson VUE OnVUE proctoring or at a test centre. Irish employers in technology, life sciences, financial services and construction are running more concurrent projects than they have people to coordinate, and structured project talent is scarce. Our 24 hour instructor-led programme satisfies the 23 hour education prerequisite, so you can apply, sit the exam and start your project career with Invensis Learning.

What Certified CAPM Training Actually Gets YouProof You Can Run Projects

    For Individuals

    For Individuals

The credential answers the question every hiring manager asks a new project hire: do you actually know how a project works? Because the exam needs no experience, it is the fastest credible way to prove project knowledge to employers in Dublin, Cork, Galway and Limerick. Whether you are finishing a degree, moving across from engineering, finance, healthcare or operations, or already supporting a delivery team, the training gives you the terminology, the process groups and the agile practices that Irish project teams use every day.

If you want a project career and do not yet have the years behind you, this is the credential designed for exactly that gap. You leave with the education hours PMI requires, exam readiness, and a recognised credential that puts your CV in the shortlist pile.

    • Enter project management with a PMI credential even if you have never led a project
    • Stand out for project coordinator and junior project manager roles across Ireland
    • Earn the 23 hours of project management education PMI requires, in one 24 hour programme
    • Speak the language of predictive, agile and hybrid delivery from your first week on the job
    • Gain a globally recognised credential that travels across sectors and borders
    • Build the foundation you need before you become eligible for the PMP
    • Show employers verified knowledge, not just a degree, in a market short on project talent
    • Move faster into paid delivery work with structured exam preparation and practice questions
    For Organizations

    For Organizations

Group training turns graduate hires, coordinators and project support staff into people who can plan, track and report on work to a consistent standard. It is a practical answer to a market where 76 per cent of Irish employers report difficulty filling roles. For technology, life sciences, financial services and construction teams in Ireland, the programme creates a shared foundation across predictive and agile delivery so that handovers, reporting and governance stop depending on individual habit.

If your delivery teams grow faster than your project discipline, training the entry tier is the cheapest fix available. Teams gain a standard approach to scope, schedule, risk and stakeholder engagement that senior managers can rely on.

    • Give junior staff and graduate hires a common project vocabulary from day one
    • Reduce rework caused by inconsistent planning, scoping and status reporting
    • Build an internal pipeline of project talent instead of competing for scarce hires
    • Standardise predictive, agile and hybrid practice across delivery teams
    • Equip project support staff to run governance, reporting and stakeholder updates
    • Improve retention by giving early career staff a visible growth path
    • Deliver training onsite, live virtual or blended around live project schedules
    • Raise PMO maturity without pulling senior managers away from delivery

What Jobs Can You Get After CAPM in Ireland?Demand, Roles and Pay

CAPM is the credential Irish employers recognise when someone new to delivery needs to prove they know the fundamentals. It maps to project coordinator, project administrator, junior project manager, PMO analyst and agile team roles across technology, life sciences, financial services and construction, and it asks for no prior work experience. Why Entry Level Project Talent Is in Demand in Ireland

    Projects Outpacing Project Talent

Around 76 per cent of Irish employers report difficulty filling roles, and project management now ranks among the top 10 in-demand skills in Ireland. Employers need coordinators they can trust from week one.

Prove your project knowledge with CAPM

Life Sciences Capital Projects Under Pressure

MedTech and pharma site expansions across Cork, Dublin and the west have pushed validation and commissioning rates up 10 to 15 per cent in a year, as specialist project support stays scarce.

Build the delivery fundamentals pharma teams need

    Tech Delivery Load in Dublin

Dublin's multinational technology campuses run thousands of concurrent workstreams. Senior managers are stretched, and hiring is heaviest at the coordinator and junior delivery tier that CAPM targets.

    Get shortlisted for coordinator roles

Predictive and Agile Running Side by Side

Irish teams rarely run pure waterfall or pure Scrum. The exam splits its weight across plan-based and agile domains, so you learn the hybrid reality employers actually work in.

Learn both delivery approaches in one course

    Infrastructure and Housing Programmes Scaling

Sustained public investment in housing, transport and grid infrastructure has kept construction project roles on Ireland's critical skills lists, with project administrators needed alongside engineers.

    Enter construction project delivery

    Degrees Without Delivery Evidence

Graduates compete on qualifications that say nothing about project work. A PMI credential earned without experience gives hiring managers the evidence a transcript cannot provide.

Turn a degree into a hireable project profile

Ireland needs people who can run projects properly, and it needs them at the entry tier. CAPM is how you prove you are one of them, with no experience required. Start your project career today.

    Your Ireland Career Transformation

From Project Support to Certified Project Talent

    The Shift This Credential Delivers

Ireland's employers are hiring project people faster than they can find them, and the entry tier is where the competition is fiercest. Here is what changes when you hold a recognised PMI credential instead of hoping your CV speaks for itself.

    Today

Competing for entry level pay with no way to justify a higher band

    After CAPM

Project coordinator roles in Ireland average around 45,000 euro, with PMO analyst roles near 49,000 euro

    Today

Screened out of project adverts that ask for proven project knowledge

    After CAPM

Eligible for coordinator, PMO analyst and junior delivery roles across tech, pharma, banking and construction

    Today

Able to help on tasks, but leaning on others for planning and governance

    After CAPM

Confident running status reporting, risk logs, backlogs and stakeholder updates without hand-holding

    You earn your CAPM

    Before

A degree or a support role, but nothing that evidences project knowledge to a hiring manager

    Now you have

A PMI credential that proves you understand project delivery, with no experience required

    Before

Familiar with the tools your team uses, but unsure why the method works the way it does

    Now you have

Fluency in process groups, scope, schedule, risk, Scrum, Kanban and business analysis basics

    Before

No formal project education and no clear next credential to aim for

    Now you have

The 23 education hours banked and a clear route towards PMP once experience is built

"The gap between helping on projects and being trusted to run them is usually evidence, and a recognised credential is the fastest evidence you can get."

    What Our Learners Say

    Untitled

    From Graduate to Project Coordinator

"I finished my business degree with no project experience at all, which felt like a wall every time I applied for a role. The training explained the process groups and the agile side clearly, and the mock questions were close to the real paper. I passed and started as a project coordinator two months later."

A Clean Route into Project Delivery

"I moved across from lab work in life sciences and needed something that proved I understood delivery. The trainer kept linking every topic back to real projects, so scope, risk and stakeholder engagement finally clicked. The 24 hours also covered the education requirement, which made the application simple."

    Confident Running the Detail

"I had been supporting a delivery team for a year without knowing why we did half of what we did. The business analysis and agile domains were the most useful parts for me, and I now run our backlog refinement and status reporting on my own."

    Graduate Intake Ready Faster

"We put our graduate intake through the programme as a group. Onboarding time dropped noticeably because everyone arrived on projects already speaking the same language about scope, risk logs and sprint cadence. The scheduling flexibility meant we lost no delivery days."

    Consistency Across the PMO

"Our PMO needed consistency at the analyst level, and that is exactly what this delivered. Reporting quality improved within a quarter, and two of the team have since moved into junior project manager roles internally, which has helped us with retention."

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

Yes, if you want a project role and do not yet have project experience. It is the credential that lets you prove project knowledge without work experience, and it maps to roles such as project coordinator (around 45,000 euro on average in Ireland) and PMO analyst (around 49,000 euro). Certified professionals in Ireland report a 15 to 25 per cent pay premium over uncertified peers.

    General

Is the CAPM worth it for someone starting out in Ireland?

Yes, if you want a project role and do not yet have project experience. It is the credential that lets you prove project knowledge without work experience, and it maps to roles such as project coordinator (around 45,000 euro on average in Ireland) and PMO analyst (around 49,000 euro). Certified professionals in Ireland report a 15 to 25 per cent pay premium over uncertified peers.

What is the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)?

It is the Project Management Institute's entry level project management credential. It demonstrates that you understand the fundamental knowledge, terminology and processes of effective project delivery across predictive, agile and hybrid approaches. It is designed for people with limited or no project management experience.

    Who should take this certification?

Students, recent graduates, career changers and project team members who support delivery but do not yet lead it. It also suits professionals building towards PMP eligibility who want a recognised PMI credential in the meantime.

Is the credential recognised by employers in Ireland?

Yes. As a PMI credential it carries recognition through PMI's network in over 200 countries, and Irish employers in technology, life sciences, financial services, construction and the public sector recognise it as credible evidence of project knowledge at the entry tier.

How long is the certification valid and how do I renew it?

It is valid for 3 years from the date of certification. Renewal means retaking and passing the exam within that cycle. Unlike PMP and other PMI credentials, this one is not renewed by accumulating PDUs.

How is CAPM different from the PMP?

CAPM is the entry credential and needs only a secondary degree plus 23 hours of project management education, with no work experience. PMP is the advanced credential and requires months of experience leading projects. Most people take CAPM first and move to PMP once they have the experience behind them.

    Pricing

What is included in the training fee and how do I pay?

Your fee covers the full 24 hour instructor-led programme, courseware aligned to the Examination Content Outline and the PMBOK Guide Eighth Edition, industry case studies, practice questions and mock exams, plus guidance on the PMI application. Fees for Ireland are quoted in euro and available on request. Request a quote and a learning advisor will confirm the current options.

How much does the training cost in Ireland?

Pricing depends on the format you choose (live virtual, onsite or focused one-to-one) and is quoted in euro. Contact a learning advisor for current pricing and upcoming batch dates.

Is the PMI exam fee included in the training price?

No. PMI bills the exam fee separately in US dollars under its own regional pricing, and you pay it through your PMI account when you apply. PMI members pay less than non-members, so check the current member and non-member fees at pmi.org before you apply.

Does PMI membership reduce the cost?

Yes. PMI membership lowers the exam fee and gives you free digital access to the PMBOK Guide 8th Edition and the Agile Practice Guide, which are the reference standards behind the exam. Current membership rates are published at pmi.org.

Do you offer group or corporate pricing for teams in Ireland?

Yes. We deliver corporate group training onsite or live virtual with schedules built around your delivery commitments, and pricing scales with group size. Ask about corporate and group pricing for your team.

    Exam

What happens if I do not pass on the first attempt?

PMI allows up to 3 attempts within your 1 year eligibility window from application approval, so a first attempt is not your only attempt. Re-examination fees apply to the second and third sittings. Our mock exams and question banks are built to get you ready the first time, and post-training support continues after your sessions end.

What does the CAPM exam cover?

The exam covers four domains from the Examination Content Outline effective 2023: Project Management Fundamentals and Core Concepts (36 per cent), Predictive Plan-Based Methodologies (17 per cent), Agile Frameworks and Methodologies (20 per cent), and Business Analysis Frameworks (27 per cent).

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

You answer 150 multiple choice questions in 3 hours. The exam is closed book and includes both single-answer and multiple-answer question formats.

Is there a fixed passing score?

No. PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing standard rather than a published percentage. Your result is reported as pass or fail with performance feedback across the four domains, so aim for solid coverage of all four rather than banking on one strong area.

Where can I sit the exam in Ireland?

You can sit it online through Pearson VUE's OnVUE proctored system from home or the office, or at a Pearson VUE test centre. Scheduling is done through PMI's portal or the Pearson VUE website once your application is approved.

Which standard is the exam based on?

It is based on the CAPM Examination Content Outline effective January 2023, which draws on the PMBOK Guide Eighth Edition and the Agile Practice Guide, both published by PMI. Our courseware is mapped to that outline.

    Course Content

Can a complete beginner take this course?

Yes. The programme assumes no project management background and starts from first principles, which is exactly what the credential is designed for. You need only a secondary degree, such as a Leaving Certificate or global equivalent, and the 23 hours of project education that this course provides.

What topics does the training cover?

It covers the four exam domains: project fundamentals and core concepts, predictive plan-based methodologies including scope, schedule, cost, risk and earned value, agile frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban, Lean and XP, and business analysis frameworks including requirements and solution evaluation.

How many training hours do I get?

24 contact hours, delivered as 3 full days, 4 days at 6 hours, or 6 half-days depending on the schedule you pick. That exceeds the 23 hours of project management education PMI requires before you sit the exam.

Are practice questions and mock exams included?

Yes. You get practice questions mapped to the four domains and mock exams matched to the 150 question, 3 hour closed book format, so you can find your weak domains before exam day rather than on it.

Is the courseware aligned to the current standard?

Yes. The materials follow the Examination Content Outline effective 2023 and reference the PMBOK Guide 8th Edition and the Agile Practice Guide, so nothing you study is out of scope or out of date.

    Enrollment

How soon can I start and how do I enrol?

New batches open regularly, so you can usually start within weeks. Pick your format, complete enrolment on the Invensis Learning website, and you get access to schedules, courseware and trainer support straight away. See upcoming batches or talk to a learning advisor to lock in a date.

What training formats are available in Ireland?

Online (live virtual) instructor-led training, corporate onsite group training at your premises, and focused one-to-one training on a customised schedule. All formats deliver the same 24 contact hours.

Do I need to be a PMI member to enrol?

No. Membership is optional for the training. It only affects your PMI exam fee and your access to PMI standards, and you can join at any point before you apply for the exam.

What are the eligibility requirements to apply for the exam?

A secondary degree (Leaving Certificate, high school diploma or global equivalent) and at least 23 hours of project management education completed before the exam. No project work experience is required, and this 24 hour course covers the education requirement in full.

Can I reschedule my batch, and what is the refund policy?

Yes, you can move to another batch by contacting our support team. Refunds and cancellations follow our published policy. A learning advisor can walk you through the terms that apply to your enrolment before you commit.
