What is the format of the PRINCE2 exams?

Foundation is a closed-book, 60-question multiple-choice exam of 60 minutes with a 60% pass mark. Practitioner is an open-book, scenario-based exam of 56 questions and sub-questions worth 70 marks, lasting 150 minutes, also with a 60% pass mark.

Do I need Foundation before taking Practitioner?

Yes. PRINCE2 Foundation, or an accepted equivalent such as PMP, CAPM or IPMA Level A to D, is required before the Practitioner exam. The combined course prepares you for Foundation first, then Practitioner.

What does open book mean for the Practitioner exam?

The PRINCE2 Managing Successful Projects manual is permitted during the Practitioner exam. You can refer to it, but questions test analysis and judgement rather than look-up, so time management and familiarity with the manual matter.

How and where do I take the exams?

Both exams are delivered by PeopleCert, either online via their OnVUE proctored system available 24/7, or at an authorised test centre. They are usually arranged through your accredited training package.

What is the exam application process?

After training, your accredited provider helps you obtain PeopleCert exam vouchers and schedule each exam. You book the Foundation exam first, then the Practitioner exam, choosing online proctored or test-centre delivery to suit you.
