The CAPM exam has 150 multiple-choice questions and a three-hour time limit. It is closed book and delivered through Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre. It is based on the CAPM Examination Content Outline effective 2023.

What does the CAPM exam cover?

The exam covers four domains from the 2023 Examination Content Outline: Project Management Fundamentals and Core Concepts (36%), Predictive Plan-Based Methodologies (17%), Agile Frameworks and Methodologies (20%) and Business Analysis Frameworks (27%).

Is there a fixed passing score for the CAPM?

PMI does not publish a fixed percentage pass mark. Your result is determined through psychometric analysis, with performance feedback across the four CAPM domains, so aim for broad mastery of the whole syllabus rather than a single target score.

How many attempts do I get and can I retake the exam?

You get up to three attempts within a one-year eligibility period from the date PMI approves your application. Re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts. Verify the current amounts on the PMI store.
