The Skills You Will Build in This ProgrammeFrom DMAIC to Data-Driven Decisions

This one-day programme gives you a practical grounding in Six Sigma: the vocabulary, the DMAIC roadmap, the main quality tools, the roles, and how Lean and Six Sigma work together. By the end you can support improvement projects and communicate clearly with practitioners.

Speak the Language of Six Sigma

The skills covered in Six Sigma Awareness Training start with the vocabulary that runs through every project: defects, opportunities, DPMO, sigma level, common and special cause variation, CTQ and the Voice of the Customer. You leave able to follow project meetings and reports with confidence.

    Follow the DMAIC Improvement Roadmap

Walk through all five DMAIC phases, Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve and Control, and understand the purpose, key steps and tollgate reviews of each. You learn why disciplined, data-based improvement beats jumping straight to solutions.

Recognise Six Sigma Roles and Contribute

Understand the Six Sigma role hierarchy, from Champion and Master Black Belt to Black Belt, Green Belt and Yellow Belt, and how each contributes. You learn where you fit and how to support project teams effectively.

Read the Core Six Sigma Tools

Gain awareness of the essential tools used across DMAIC, including SIPOC, the Fishbone diagram, Pareto charts, control charts, Gauge R&R and process capability. You learn enough to understand what is being done in a project and why.

    Connect Lean and Six Sigma

See how Lean Six Sigma combines Lean waste elimination and flow with Six Sigma variation reduction, and how tools like value stream mapping, 5S and Kaizen complement the DMAIC method for faster, higher-quality outcomes.

Apply a Data-Driven Mindset at Work

Learn how Six Sigma links process inputs to outputs, focuses on measurable customer-critical characteristics, and replaces guesswork with facts, so you can bring an evidence-based approach to everyday problems in your own role.

What is included in the course fee?

The fee covers instructor-led delivery of all six modules, course materials, real-world case examples, interactive discussion and team exercises, plus a course completion record from Invensis Learning. Request a quote to confirm exactly what is included in your chosen format.

Do you offer group or corporate pricing?

    Assessment

How is learning assessed on this course?

There is no formal assessment. This is an awareness-level programme, so learning is reinforced through interactive discussion, real-world case examples and team exercises during the one-day session rather than through a test.

Will I receive anything on completion?

Yes. On completing the one-day programme you receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning. This is a non-certification course, so no formal credential is awarded by an external body.

    Is this a practitioner-level course?

No. Awareness training builds the understanding needed to support and communicate about Six Sigma projects. It does not qualify you to lead DMAIC projects, which requires practitioner-level Yellow Belt, Green Belt or Black Belt learning.

Can I progress to further Six Sigma learning afterwards?

Yes. This course is an ideal foundation for Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt and Green Belt learning, as well as 7 QC Tools and Minitab Essentials training. Many learners use it to decide whether to pursue practitioner-level study.

What will I be able to do after the training?

You will be able to understand what Six Sigma is, use its vocabulary, follow the five DMAIC phases, recognise the Six Sigma roles, read core tools, and contribute more effectively to improvement projects and Lean Six Sigma work.

    Course Content

What topics does the Six Sigma course cover?

The programme covers six modules: the history, philosophy and business case for Six Sigma, key concepts and terminology, the DMAIC methodology, Six Sigma roles, an awareness-level look at core tools, and Lean Six Sigma in practice.

    What is the DMAIC methodology?

DMAIC stands for Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve and Control. It is Six Sigma's structured, phase-gated roadmap for improving existing processes, ensuring decisions are based on data rather than assumptions. The course walks through the purpose of each phase.

Will I learn about Six Sigma tools?

Yes, at awareness level. You gain an understanding of tools such as SIPOC, the Fishbone diagram, Pareto charts, control charts, Gauge R&R and process capability, enough to follow what is happening in a project and why.

    How long is the training?

The course runs for one day, a total of eight hours, and can also be delivered as two half-day sessions. It covers all six modules with concept explanations, case examples, discussion and team exercises.

Is Lean Six Sigma covered in the course?

Yes. A dedicated module explains Lean Six Sigma as the combined approach, showing how Lean waste elimination and flow work with Six Sigma variation reduction, and how tools like value stream mapping, 5S and Kaizen support the DMAIC method.

Can this be delivered on-site for my organisation in Hong Kong?
