What is the PgMP certification and who is it for?

Is the PgMP worth it for senior professionals in Finland?

Yes. Programme leadership is in demand across Finland's technology, engineering, energy and financial services sectors, where senior programme and PMO roles command strong salary bands. With fewer than 3,000 holders worldwide, the PgMP is a rare differentiator for leaders competing for programme director and Head of PMO roles.

Do I need a PMP before taking the PgMP?

No. A PMP is not a mandatory prerequisite. However, an active PMP satisfies the project management experience requirement across all three eligibility sets, so PMP holders only need to document their programme management experience.

Is the PgMP recognised in Finland?

Yes. As a PMI credential, the PgMP carries global recognition and is referenced by senior employers worldwide, including leading Finnish organisations that run large programmes. It is a distinctive benchmark for programme management excellence.

How long is the PgMP certification valid?

The PgMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs through PMI's Continuing Certification Requirements cycle, with at least 8 PDUs in each of the three Talent Triangle areas: Ways of Working, Power Skills and Business Acumen.

What is included in the PgMP training fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, exam simulator access, downloadable templates, application and panel-review support, learner support, and a course completion certificate with contact hours. How much does the PgMP exam cost?

For reference, PMI lists roughly USD 800 for members and USD 1,000 for non-members, billed separately under regional pricing. Fees vary and are periodically updated, so confirm the current amount on pmi.org before you apply. PMI membership can reduce the exam cost.

Is the exam fee included in the training price?

No. PMI bills the PgMP exam fee separately in USD under regional pricing, so it is not part of the training fee. PMI membership typically lowers both the exam fee and future renewal costs.

How many questions are on the PgMP exam and how long is it?

The PgMP exam has 170 multiple-choice questions and a four-hour allotted time. It is closed book and delivered online through Pearson VUE OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

What are the PgMP exam domains and their weights?

The exam covers five performance domains from the PgMP Examination Content Outline: Strategic Program Management (11%), Program Life Cycle Management (44%), Benefits Management (11%), Stakeholder Engagement (16%) and Governance (18%).

What is the PgMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to the PgMP. A panel of programme management practitioners evaluates your documented experience and competency. It is a mandatory step alongside the written exam, and both must be passed to earn the credential.

What is the passing score for the PgMP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score that is not published as a fixed number. Results are reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so aim for broad mastery across all five domains.

How many attempts do I get, and can I retake it?

You get up to three attempts within the one-year eligibility window from the date your application is approved. Re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts; confirm the current amounts on pmi.org.

Course Content

What topics does the PgMP training cover?

The training covers all five PgMP performance domains: Strategic Program Management, Program Life Cycle Management, Benefits Management, Stakeholder Engagement and Governance, plus guidance on the PMI application, panel review and exam strategy.

Which standard and edition is the training based on?

The training is aligned to the PgMP Examination Content Outline and The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition, published by PMI. All courseware follows this fourth edition as the primary reference framework.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions, full-length mock exams, an exam simulator and topic-wise quizzes aligned to the 170-question format, helping you identify weak areas and build exam readiness.

Will I get help with the PMI application?

Yes. We provide guidance on documenting your programme management experience for the PMI application and on preparing for the multi-rater panel review, which are both essential steps in the PgMP journey.

Will I receive a certificate after the training?

Yes. After meeting the course requirements you receive a course completion certificate along with the contact hours earned through the programme, which support your PDU record.

What are the eligibility requirements for the PgMP?

PMI offers three sets. With a secondary diploma: 48 months of project management experience or an active PMP, plus 84 months of programme experience. With a four-year degree: the same project requirement plus 48 months of programme experience. A GAC-accredited degree reduces the programme requirement to 36 months. All within the past 15 years.

How do I enrol in the PgMP course?
