What is the PgMP certification and who is it for?

Is the PgMP worth it for professionals in Ecuador?

Yes. As banks, telecoms, energy firms and public bodies in Ecuador scale digital transformation and infrastructure programmes, employers seek leaders who align delivery to strategy. Senior programme and PMO roles command strong pay, and the PgMP is a rare, globally recognised marker of that capability.

Is PMP required before the PgMP?

No, the PMP is not a mandatory prerequisite. However, an active PMP satisfies the project management experience requirement across all three PgMP eligibility sets, so PMP holders only need to document their programme management experience.

What are the eligibility requirements for the PgMP?

There are three sets. With a secondary diploma: 48 months of project management experience or an active PMP, plus 84 months of programme management experience. With a bachelor's degree: 48 months project plus 48 months programme experience. All experience must fall within the past 15 years, and a panel review applies.

Is the PgMP recognised internationally?

Yes. As a PMI credential, the PgMP carries global recognition across more than 200 countries. Fewer than 3,000 practitioners worldwide hold it, which makes it a distinctive differentiator for senior programme leaders in Ecuador and abroad.

How much does PgMP training cost in Ecuador?

Instructor-led PgMP training fees vary by format and cohort, so exact pricing is available on request. The PMI exam fee is billed separately by PMI and is not part of the training fee. Request a quote and our advisors will share current options.

What is included in the PgMP course fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, exam simulator access, downloadable templates, application and panel-review support, learner support, and a course completion certificate with contact hours.

How much is the PgMP exam fee?

For reference, PMI charges around USD 800 for members and USD 1,000 for non-members, and prices can vary, so confirm current fees on pmi.org. Ecuador uses the US dollar, so there is no currency conversion. PMI membership can reduce the exam cost.

What is the format of the PgMP exam?

The PgMP exam is closed book with multiple-choice questions, based on the PgMP Examination Content Outline and The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition. It covers five performance domains and is delivered via Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring or a test centre.

How many questions are on the PgMP exam and how long is it?

The exam has 170 questions and an allotted time of four hours (240 minutes). Results are reported with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement.

What are the PgMP exam domains and their weights?

Five domains: Program Life Cycle Management (44%), Governance (18%), Stakeholder Engagement (16%), Strategic Program Management (11%) and Benefits Management (11%). Program Life Cycle Management carries the most weight, so plan your preparation accordingly.

What is the PgMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to the PgMP. A panel of programme management practitioners evaluates your documented experience. It is mandatory in addition to the written exam, and both must be passed to earn the credential.

What is the passing score, and can I retake the exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score rather than a fixed percentage, so focus on broad mastery across all five domains. You may take up to three attempts within the one-year eligibility window from application approval.

What topics are covered in the PgMP training?

The training covers the five PgMP performance domains: Strategic Program Management, Program Life Cycle Management, Benefits Management, Stakeholder Engagement and Governance, plus guidance on the PMI application, panel review and exam strategy.

Which standard is the courseware aligned to?

The courseware is aligned to The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition, and the current PgMP Examination Content Outline (ECO), so what you study maps directly to what the exam tests.

Are there practice tests, mock exams and assignments included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions, full-length mock exams, an exam simulator and topic-wise quizzes to help you identify weak areas and build exam readiness before the four-hour exam.

How many contact hours does the training provide?

The instructor-led programme provides 24 contact hours of preparation. The PgMP has no mandatory contact-hour prerequisite, so these hours serve as exam preparation and knowledge consolidation for candidates who already meet the experience requirements.

Will I receive a certificate of completion after the training?

Yes. After meeting the course requirements you receive a course completion certificate along with the contact hours earned through the programme, which support your PMI application and continuing certification.
