    What is the format of the CAPM exam?

    The CAPM exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the CAPM Examination Content Outline effective 2023. It is delivered via Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

    How many questions are on the CAPM exam and how long is it?

    The CAPM exam has 150 questions and you have three hours (180 minutes) to complete it. Questions are multiple choice in single-answer and multiple-answer formats.

    What does the CAPM exam cover?

    The exam covers four domains from the 2023 ECO: Project Management Fundamentals and Core Concepts (36%), Predictive Plan-Based Methodologies (17%), Agile Frameworks and Methodologies (20%), and Business Analysis Frameworks (27%).

    Is there a fixed passing score for CAPM?

    No. PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score rather than a fixed number. Results are reported as pass or fail with performance feedback across the four CAPM domains, so aim for broad mastery of all four.

    What happens if I do not pass, can I retake it?

    Yes. PMI allows up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period from application approval. A re-examination fee applies to the second and third attempts; confirm current amounts on pmi.org.
