Market Forces Driving Demand for PgMP Skills in Munich

    Automotive Transformation at Scale

BMW's Neue Klasse and the shift to software-defined electric vehicles run as huge, interdependent programmes. Munich employers need leaders who can coordinate them, not just single projects.

PgMP builds programme governance and coordination skills

    Deeptech and AI Scale-Up

With 250,000 tech professionals across 18,000 companies, Munich scales AI and deeptech initiatives fast. Turning that investment into benefits demands programme-level roadmapping and prioritisation.

PgMP builds strategic alignment and roadmap skills

    Programme Governance Gap

Many enterprises are strong at project delivery yet lack a strategy-aligned programme governance layer. That gap causes value leakage the PgMP is built to close.

PgMP builds governance and benefits-management skills

    Regulatory and Capital Programmes

Insurers and banks such as Allianz and Munich Re run complex regulatory and core-system programmes. These need senior leaders who govern benefits, risk and stakeholders across workstreams.

PgMP builds stakeholder and risk-aggregation skills

    Certified Programme Leader Scarcity

Munich's talent pool is deep in project managers but thin in credentialed programme leaders. The PgMP's advanced eligibility and panel review make holders rare and sought-after.

PgMP makes certified programme leaders stand out

    Industrial Digitalisation Pressure

Siemens, Infineon and MTU Aero Engines drive Industrie 4.0 programmes under tight capital discipline, pushing organisations to optimise the mix of work and rebalance to strategy.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

The Program Management Professional (PgMP) is PMI's senior credential for professionals who manage multiple related projects as a coordinated programme to deliver strategic benefits. It is designed for senior programme managers, PMO leaders, directors of delivery and PMP holders with substantial programme experience.

    General

What is the PgMP certification and who is it for?

The Program Management Professional (PgMP) is PMI's senior credential for professionals who manage multiple related projects as a coordinated programme to deliver strategic benefits. It is designed for senior programme managers, PMO leaders, directors of delivery and PMP holders with substantial programme experience.

Is the PgMP worth it for programme managers in Munich?

Yes. In Munich, senior programme roles such as Head of PMO and Programme Director command strong salary bands, often €118,000 and above, and employers in automotive, insurance and tech increasingly prefer certified programme leaders. Fewer than 3,000 people worldwide hold the PgMP, so it is a genuine differentiator.

Is the PgMP recognised in Munich and across Germany?

Yes. The PgMP is a globally recognised PMI credential valued by employers in Munich and worldwide, including BMW, Siemens, Allianz and Munich Re. PMI credentials are referenced across more than 200 countries as a benchmark for programme management excellence.

Do I need a PMP before taking the PgMP?

No. A PMP is not a mandatory prerequisite. However, an active PMP satisfies the project management experience requirement across all three eligibility sets, so PMP holders only need to document their programme management experience.

How long is the PgMP valid and how do I renew it?

The PgMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle (at least 8 in each of Ways of Working, Power Skills and Business Acumen) within each three-year cycle and report them through PMI's CCR system.

    Pricing

What is included in the PgMP training fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, an exam simulator, downloadable templates, PgMP application and panel-review support, learner support and a course completion certificate with contact hours. Request a quote for a full breakdown.

How much does PgMP training cost in Munich?

Instructor-led PgMP training fees vary by format and schedule, so pricing is available on request. The PMI exam fee is billed separately in USD under regional pricing and is not part of the training fee. Talk to a learning advisor for current options.

Is the PMI exam fee included in the training price?

No. PMI bills the PgMP exam fee separately in USD. For reference, PMI members pay around USD 800 and non-members around USD 1,000, and prices may vary by region. PMI membership also lowers the exam fee, so verify current amounts on pmi.org.

Do you offer corporate or group pricing for PgMP training?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for PMOs, transformation offices and leadership teams in Munich. Contact us for a tailored group quote.

What payment methods and instalment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and offer instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

What is the format of the PgMP exam?

The PgMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PgMP Examination Content Outline and The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition. It is delivered via Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

How many questions are on the PgMP exam and how long is it?

The PgMP exam has 170 questions and an allotted time of four hours. Results are reported with domain-level feedback (Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement) rather than a fixed percentage score.

What are the PgMP exam domains and their weightings?

The exam spans five performance domains: Strategic Program Management (11%), Program Life Cycle Management (44%), Benefits Management (11%), Stakeholder Engagement (16%) and Governance (18%). Programme lifecycle carries the greatest weight.

What is the PgMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to the PgMP. A panel of programme management practitioners evaluates your documented programme experience. It is a mandatory step alongside the written exam, and both must be passed to earn the credential.

What happens if I do not pass the exam first time?

PMI allows up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period from application approval. Reexamination fees apply to the second and third attempts. Our prep resources, mock exams and trainer guidance are designed to help you pass on your first sitting.

    Course Content

What topics does the PgMP training cover?

The training covers all five PgMP performance domains: Strategic Program Management, Program Life Cycle Management, Benefits Management, Stakeholder Engagement and Governance, plus programme roadmapping, benefits realisation, application guidance and exam strategy.

Which standard and edition is the training based on?

The courseware is aligned to PMI's PgMP Examination Content Outline and The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition, the current reference standard for programme management. This keeps your preparation aligned with what the exam actually assesses.

Are practice tests, mock exams and assignments included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions, full-length mock exams, an exam simulator and topic-wise quizzes mapped to the five domains, helping you identify weak areas and build readiness for the 170-question exam.

Do I need prior experience to benefit from the training?

The training is aimed at experienced practitioners, since the PgMP itself requires substantial programme management experience. If you are still building eligibility, our advisors can help you map your experience and plan the right time to apply.

Will I receive a certificate of completion and contact hours?

Yes. After meeting the course requirements you receive a course completion certificate along with the contact hours earned through the 24-hour programme, which also serve as exam-preparation credit.

How soon can I start and how do I enrol?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website or by speaking with a learning advisor. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. See upcoming batches to start soon.

What training formats are available in Munich?

We offer online (live virtual) instructor-led training, classroom sessions and customised corporate group training in Munich, so you can choose the format that fits your schedule and learning preference.

What are the eligibility requirements to sit the PgMP exam?

PMI has three eligibility sets. With a four-year degree you need 48 months of project management experience (or an active PMP) plus 48 months of programme management experience within the last 15 years. A secondary diploma requires 84 months of programme experience. A panel review is also required.
