    How is DFSS different from DMAIC?

    DMAIC improves existing processes that are underperforming, while DFSS designs new products and processes right the first time using the DMADV roadmap. This course covers DFSS/DMADV. Most organisations use both: DMAIC to improve what exists, DFSS to design what is new.

    How is my learning assessed?

    There is no formal assessment. Instead, you apply each DFSS tool, including VOC to CTQ flow-down, QFD, the Pugh matrix and Design FMEA, to realistic design scenarios during the session, so you practise the method as you learn it.

    Will I be able to apply DFSS at work afterwards?

    Yes. You will be able to run a DMADV project, capture Voice of the Customer, build a House of Quality, conduct a Design FMEA, apply robust design and plan design verification. The skills are immediately usable on real projects.

    Does the training lead to a governing body credential?

    No. This is a vendor-neutral skills course with no governing body or credential. It builds practical Design for Six Sigma capability grounded in the wider Six Sigma and quality management field.

    Course Content

    What topics does the DFSS course cover?

    The course covers all five DMADV phases: Define (charter, VOC, Kano), Measure (CTQ flow-down, QFD), Analyse (concept generation, Pugh matrix, DFMEA), Design (robust design, P-diagram, DFMA) and Verify (verification, validation, design scorecard and transfer).

    How long is the training?

    The training runs for one day (8 hours), covering DFSS foundations and the full DMADV roadmap with hands-on tool exercises throughout. It can also be delivered as two half-day sessions to suit team schedules.

    What hands-on exercises are included?

    You practise VOC to CTQ flow-down, build a QFD House of Quality, run a Pugh concept selection matrix and complete a Design FMEA worksheet, all applied to realistic product or process design scenarios.

    Are learning materials provided?

    Yes. You receive structured courseware, tool templates and reference guides covering the DMADV method and each DFSS tool, so you can apply them on the job after the course.

    Can beginners take this course?

    Yes. The course starts from first principles and needs no prior DFSS experience. It suits engineers and quality professionals new to design-for-quality, as well as Six Sigma practitioners adding DMADV to their toolkit.
