What Is Design for Six Sigma Training?UntitledYour Route to First-Time-Right Design

The Design for Six Sigma Training is a practical, one-day programme that teaches you to design new products, services and processes that meet customer requirements and reach Six Sigma quality levels from the outset, rather than fixing defects later. Built around the DMADV roadmap (Define, Measure, Analyse, Design, Verify), this Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) course in Colombia introduces the core toolkit: Voice of the Customer, Critical to Quality flow-down, Quality Function Deployment, concept selection, Design FMEA, robust design and design verification. Unlike DMAIC, which improves processes that already exist, DFSS designs quality in before the first prototype is built. That makes it invaluable for design engineers, R&D professionals, new product development managers and quality engineers across Colombia's manufacturing, automotive, pharmaceutical and consumer goods sectors, where getting the design right first time protects cost, time and reputation. This is a non-certification skills course with no exam. You learn by applying each DFSS tool to realistic design scenarios, and you leave ready to contribute to a DMADV project straight away. Start building design excellence with Invensis Learning.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) training is a one-day, non-certification course that teaches you to design new products, services and processes to Six Sigma quality levels from the start. It covers the DMADV roadmap and tools such as VOC, QFD, DFMEA and robust design.

    General

What is Design for Six Sigma training?

Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) training is a one-day, non-certification course that teaches you to design new products, services and processes to Six Sigma quality levels from the start. It covers the DMADV roadmap and tools such as VOC, QFD, DFMEA and robust design.

How is DFSS different from DMAIC?

DMAIC improves existing processes that are underperforming, while DFSS designs new products and processes right the first time using the DMADV roadmap. This course covers DFSS/DMADV. Most organisations use both: DMAIC to improve what exists, DFSS to design what is new.

Who should attend this course in Colombia?

The training suits design and systems engineers, R&D professionals, new product development managers, quality engineers and Six Sigma practitioners who want the design counterpart to DMAIC. It is relevant across manufacturing, automotive, pharma and consumer goods.

Is DFSS worth it for my career?

Yes. DFSS gives you a structured, in-demand method for designing quality into products and processes, which employers across Colombian industry increasingly value. You gain practical tools like QFD and DFMEA that you can apply on your next design project straight away.

Do I need prior Six Sigma knowledge?

No. The course introduces every DFSS tool and the DMADV method from first principles. Familiarity with basic Six Sigma ideas such as CTQ and variation is helpful but not required, so both newcomers and experienced practitioners benefit.

What method is the training based on?

The training is based on the Design for Six Sigma methodology and its DMADV roadmap (Define, Measure, Analyse, Design, Verify), drawing on established quality tools such as QFD, Design FMEA, Taguchi robust design and design verification.

    Pricing

How much does DFSS training cost in Colombia?

Pricing varies by delivery format (live virtual, classroom or corporate) and group size, so fees are available on request. Contact us for current pricing for public and in-house sessions in Colombia, or request a quote from a learning advisor.

What is included in the course fee?

The fee typically includes instructor-led training across all six DFSS modules, hands-on tool exercises, courseware and learning resources, and a course completion record from Invensis Learning. Ask us for a full inclusions list when you request a quote.

Do you offer group or corporate pricing?

Yes. We offer corporate and group pricing with tailored schedules for engineering, R&D and quality teams, and volume-based rates apply for in-house delivery. Contact us for a group quote for your organisation.

Yes. We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and offer instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

Is a certification exam fee included?

No exam fee applies because this is a non-certification course with no examination. You pay only for the training, and you receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning on finishing the programme.

    Assessment

Is there an exam for this course?

No. Design for Six Sigma is a non-certification course with no examination. Learning is reinforced through hands-on DFSS tool exercises, worked design scenarios and discussion during the one-day programme.

Do I receive a certificate after the training?

Yes. You receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning once you complete the one-day programme. This is a training completion record rather than a certification, as the course does not award a formal credential.

    How is my learning assessed?

There is no formal assessment. Instead, you apply each DFSS tool, including VOC to CTQ flow-down, QFD, the Pugh matrix and Design FMEA, to realistic design scenarios during the session, so you practise the method as you learn it.

Will I be able to apply DFSS at work afterwards?

Yes. You will be able to run a DMADV project, capture Voice of the Customer, build a House of Quality, conduct a Design FMEA, apply robust design and plan design verification. The skills are immediately usable on real projects.

Does the training lead to a governing body credential?

No. This is a vendor-neutral skills course with no governing body or credential. It builds practical Design for Six Sigma capability grounded in the wider Six Sigma and quality management field.

    Course Content

What topics does the DFSS course cover?

The course covers all five DMADV phases: Define (charter, VOC, Kano), Measure (CTQ flow-down, QFD), Analyse (concept generation, Pugh matrix, DFMEA), Design (robust design, P-diagram, DFMA) and Verify (verification, validation, design scorecard and transfer).

    How long is the training?

The training runs for one day (8 hours), covering DFSS foundations and the full DMADV roadmap with hands-on tool exercises throughout. It can also be delivered as two half-day sessions to suit team schedules.

    What hands-on exercises are included?

You practise VOC to CTQ flow-down, build a QFD House of Quality, run a Pugh concept selection matrix and complete a Design FMEA worksheet, all applied to realistic product or process design scenarios.

    Are learning materials provided?

Yes. You receive structured courseware, tool templates and reference guides covering the DMADV method and each DFSS tool, so you can apply them on the job after the course.

    Can beginners take this course?

Yes. The course starts from first principles and needs no prior DFSS experience. It suits engineers and quality professionals new to design-for-quality, as well as Six Sigma practitioners adding DMADV to their toolkit.
