    What is the format of the IASSC Yellow Belt exam?

    The exam is closed book with multiple-choice and true or false questions. It is delivered online with proctoring 24/7 or at Pearson VUE test centres, and is based on the IASSC Yellow Belt Body of Knowledge across the five DMAIC phases.

    How many questions are on the Yellow Belt exam?

    The exam has 60 questions, with up to 6 additional non-graded questions on some forms. You are allotted 2 hours to complete it.

    What is the passing score for the Yellow Belt exam?

    You should achieve a minimum of 230 points out of 300. Questions are spread roughly evenly across the five DMAIC phases, so broad familiarity with each phase is the best preparation.

    How long is the certification valid?

    IASSC certification holds Current status for three years from the date of certification. After that, you can pass the recertification exam, which has 75 questions, a 2-hour limit and a minimum 70% passing score, to maintain Current status.

    Can a beginner pass the Yellow Belt exam?

    Yes. The Yellow Belt is set at a foundational, awareness level, so it tests comprehension rather than advanced statistics. With structured training and the practice questions we provide, beginners can prepare with confidence.

    What topics are covered in the Yellow Belt training?

    The training covers all five DMAIC phases: Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control. It includes basic Lean tools such as 5S, Kanban and Poka-Yoke, plus core quality metrics like DPU, DPMO, FTY, RTY and Cycle Time at an awareness level.

    What will I be able to do after the course?

    You will be able to support improvement teams, map and define processes with SIPOC, read core Six Sigma metrics, apply foundational Lean tools, and help sustain gains through basic control methods.

    How long is the training?

    The training runs for 16 hours, delivered either as two full days or as four half-day sessions, so you can choose the schedule that fits your work commitments.

    Yes. You receive IASSC-aligned courseware and practice questions mapped to the 60-question exam format, helping you identify weak areas and build readiness before you sit the exam.

    Does this course prepare me for Green Belt?

    Yes. The Yellow Belt builds the DMAIC and Lean foundation that the Green Belt extends with deeper statistics and project application, making it a natural first step on the Lean Six Sigma path.
