Is there an exam for Design for Six Sigma training?

No. DFSS training is a non-certification course with no examination. Learning is reinforced through hands-on tool exercises, case studies and team discussion. You receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning on completion.

Do I receive a certificate after the training?

You receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning. No formal certification or credential is awarded by an external body, because this is a practical skills programme rather than an exam-based certification course.

How is my learning assessed during the course?

There is no formal assessment. Instead, you apply DMADV tools such as VOC, CTQ flow-down, QFD, the Pugh matrix and Design FMEA to realistic design scenarios during the programme, so you practise each tool as you learn it.

Will I be able to apply DFSS at work afterwards?

Yes. After the training you can apply the DMADV roadmap to a design project, run VOC and QFD workshops, build a House of Quality, conduct a Design FMEA, apply robust design and plan design verification on your own live work.

Does this training lead to a Six Sigma belt?

No. This is a focused DFSS skills course, not a belt programme. It is a strong complement to Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and Black Belt training, which cover DMAIC, and to Minitab training for statistical analysis within DFSS projects.

    Course Content

What topics does the DFSS training cover?

The course covers all six DMADV stages: DFSS foundations, the Define phase (VOC, Kano, charter), the Measure phase (CTQ flow-down, QFD), the Analyse phase (concept selection, Design FMEA), the Design phase (robust design, DFMA) and the Verify phase (verification, validation, design transfer).

What tools will I learn to use?

You will practise Voice of the Customer capture, the Kano model, CTQ flow-down, Quality Function Deployment (House of Quality), the Pugh concept selection matrix, Design FMEA, the P-diagram, robust design and design verification methods.

    Are there hands-on exercises?

Yes. Hands-on exercises run throughout the programme. You apply VOC-to-CTQ flow-down, build a QFD House of Quality, score concepts with a Pugh matrix and complete a Design FMEA worksheet using realistic product and process design scenarios.

    How long is the training?

The programme is delivered in one day (about 8 hours), or as two half-day sessions, covering all six DMADV phases with concept explanation, design case examples and hands-on tool exercises throughout.

Do I need engineering software for the course?

No specialised software is required to attend. The course builds awareness of Design of Experiments (DOE) and where tools such as Minitab support DFSS analysis, but the focus is on the DMADV methodology and the core design tools.
