What the PMI-CP Certification Delivers for Construction CareersUntitledBuilt for Brazil's Project Leaders

The PMI Construction Professional (PMI-CP) is the Project Management Institute's specialist certification for the construction industry, and PMI-CP certification training in Brazil prepares you to apply project management skills across the full construction project lifecycle, from pre-construction through closeout. It validates that you can deliver complex builds on time, on budget and to the required quality. The exam is based on the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline (ECO) and is aligned to the current edition of the PMBOK Guide and construction industry standards. It covers four domains: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%). The credential is unique among PMI certifications because it requires completion of four mandatory self-paced modules before you apply. Delivered in live virtual, classroom and corporate formats, the training suits construction project managers, engineers moving into project roles, owner's representatives and consultants. You prepare for the 120-question, closed-book PMI exam and receive guidance on the four modules and the PMI application, so you can move from learning to a credential valued across Brazil's infrastructure, sanitation, energy and real estate sectors.

Why Brazil's Construction Sector Needs Certified Project Leaders

    Contract and Claims Complexity

Brazil's large public, PPP and private projects often face variations, delays and disputes. Managers fluent in construction contracts and claims are needed to protect value and keep builds on track.

PMI-CP builds contract and claims management skills

    Infrastructure Delivery at Scale

The Novo PAC programme, port concessions and highway tenders demand portfolio-grade prioritisation, risk aggregation and cross-programme coordination that certified construction leaders provide.

PMI-CP builds governance and coordination skills

    Sanitation Universalisation Pressure

An estimated R$88bn sanitation auction cycle under new PPP concessions needs managers who can run complex concessions, engage regulators and deliver against universalisation targets.

PMI-CP builds stakeholder and delivery skills

    Data Centre and Energy Build-Out

New data centre clusters and Petrobras energy megaprojects require tight scope, schedule and risk control, exactly the disciplines the PMI-CP domains are built around.

PMI-CP builds scope and risk management skills

    Certified Construction Talent Gap

Brazil has a deep pool of engineers but few globally credentialed construction project managers. The PMI-CP's experience thresholds and modules make holders relatively rare and sought-after.

PMI-CP makes certified construction leaders stand out

    Cost and Interest-Rate Pressure

High borrowing costs and capital discipline push firms to control budgets tightly, cut low-value scope and avoid overruns, work that credentialed construction managers are trained to lead.

How to Get PMI-CP Certified in BrazilStep-by-Step Certification Process

The PMI-CP (PMI Construction Professional) certification path in Brazil is a structured single-exam track. Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

The PMI Construction Professional (PMI-CP) is PMI's specialist certification for the construction industry. It validates your ability to apply project management skills across construction projects and suits construction project managers, site engineers moving into project roles, owner's representatives and consultants.

    General

What is the PMI-CP certification and who is it for?

The PMI Construction Professional (PMI-CP) is PMI's specialist certification for the construction industry. It validates your ability to apply project management skills across construction projects and suits construction project managers, site engineers moving into project roles, owner's representatives and consultants.

Why is the PMI-CP valuable for construction professionals in Brazil?

Brazil's infrastructure, sanitation, energy and real estate pipeline is expanding, and employers increasingly want globally recognised construction credentials. The PMI-CP proves construction-specific delivery competency and helps you stand out for senior roles with leading contractors and developers.

Is the PMP required before taking the PMI-CP?

No. The PMP is not a prerequisite for the PMI-CP. You can apply based on your construction project management experience and education. The two credentials are complementary, with the PMP covering general project management and the PMI-CP validating construction-specific expertise.

How long is the PMI-CP valid and how do I renew it?

The PMI-CP is valid for three years. To renew, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle within each three-year cycle, with at least 8 PDUs in each area. The 56 PDUs from the four prerequisite modules can be applied toward renewal.

Which standard is the PMI-CP based on?

The PMI-CP is based on the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline (ECO) and is aligned to the current edition of the PMBOK Guide and construction industry standards. The ECO defines four domains covering contracts, stakeholders, strategy and scope, and governance.

    Pricing

How much does PMI-CP training cost in Brazil?

PMI-CP training fees in Brazil vary by format and are available on request. Instructor-led and corporate options are priced separately, and the PMI exam fee is billed by PMI in USD and is not part of the training fee. Request a quote for current pricing.

What is included in the PMI-CP course fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, guidance on the four mandatory modules, PMI application support, learner support and a course completion certificate with contact hours. Talk to a learning advisor for full details.

Is the PMI exam fee included in the training price?

No. PMI bills the exam fee separately in USD under regional pricing. For reference, it is around USD 520 for PMI members and USD 670 for non-members; confirm current fees at pmi.org. PMI membership can reduce the exam cost.

Do you offer corporate or group discounts for PMI-CP training?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for construction teams, project offices and leadership groups. Ask about corporate or group pricing for a tailored quote.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and offer instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

How many questions are on the PMI-CP exam and how long is it?

The PMI-CP exam has 120 questions and an allotted time of 230 minutes (3 hours 50 minutes). It is closed book with multiple-choice questions in single-answer and multiple-answer formats.

What are the four PMI-CP exam domains and their weights?

The four domains are Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%), per the official PMI-CP Examination Content Outline.

What is the passing score for the PMI-CP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score that is not published as a fixed number. Results are reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so aim for broad mastery across all four domains.

How many attempts do I get and where can I sit the exam?

You get up to three attempts within a one-year eligibility window from application approval. The exam is delivered online through Pearson VUE OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre, including locations in Brazil.

What are the prerequisites to apply for the PMI-CP exam?

You must complete all four mandatory self-paced modules and meet one experience set: a secondary diploma plus 60 months of construction PM experience, a bachelor's degree plus 36 months, or a GAC-accredited degree plus 24 months, each with 35 contact hours of PM education.

    Course Content

What topics does the PMI-CP training cover?

The training covers the four PMI-CP domains: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%), plus construction risk, insurance, claims and exam strategy.

What are the four mandatory prerequisite modules?

Before applying you must complete four self-paced modules in any order: Project Communications, Interface Management, Scope and Change Order Management, and Contract and Risk Management. Each is a 6 to 10 hour commitment and awards 14 PDUs, for 56 PDUs in total.

Does this training satisfy the PMI-CP education requirement?

The instructor-led programme provides 32 contact hours, which is close to but below the 35 contact hours of PM education PMI requires. Check with the training team on whether supplementary self-study or pre-reading is credited toward the 35-hour requirement.

Are practice questions and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions aligned to the 120-question, 230-minute closed-book format, along with mock exams and topic-wise quizzes to help you identify weak areas and build exam readiness.

Is the courseware aligned to the current PMI-CP outline?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current PMI-CP Examination Content Outline and the current edition of the PMBOK Guide, so you study the same domains and construction practices the exam tests.

    Enrollment

What are the eligibility requirements to enrol in the training?

How do I enrol in the PMI-CP course?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. Talk to a learning advisor if you need help choosing a batch.
