Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

The Project Management Professional (PMP) is PMI's flagship, globally recognised credential for professionals who lead projects and teams using predictive, agile and hybrid approaches. It suits project managers, team leads and delivery professionals in Barbados seeking a senior, transferable qualification.

    General

What is the PMP certification and who is it for?

The Project Management Professional (PMP) is PMI's flagship, globally recognised credential for professionals who lead projects and teams using predictive, agile and hybrid approaches. It suits project managers, team leads and delivery professionals in Barbados seeking a senior, transferable qualification.

Is PMP worth it for professionals in Barbados?

Yes. PMP is recognised in over 200 countries, and holders report higher median pay than non-certified peers in the PMI salary survey. In Barbados it opens senior project, programme and PMO roles across financial services, tourism, IT and the public sector. Talk to a learning advisor to plan your path.

What standard is the current PMP exam based on?

The current PMP exam is based on PMI's PMP Examination Content Outline and the PMBOK Guide 8th Edition, which PMI now uses as the primary reference. It covers five performance domains spanning predictive, agile and hybrid delivery.

What are the prerequisites for PMP?

There are two paths. With a four-year degree you need 36 months leading projects plus 35 contact hours of project management education. With a secondary school qualification you need 60 months leading projects plus the same 35 contact hours, which this training provides.

How long is the PMP certification valid?

PMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 professional development units (PDUs) across PMI's Talent Triangle within each three-year continuing certification requirements cycle.

Does the PMP exam cover agile?

Yes. Around half the exam covers agile and hybrid approaches. The PMBOK Guide 8th Edition exam includes a dedicated agile frameworks domain alongside predictive methodologies, so you prepare for both ways of working.

    Pricing

What is included in the PMP course fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, 35 contact hours of education, practice questions, mock exams, exam simulator access, templates and learner support, plus a course completion certificate. The PMI exam fee is billed separately. Request a quote for current pricing.

How much does PMP training cost in Barbados?

PMP training in Barbados is priced by format and by whether you enrol individually or as a team. Live online and corporate group options are available. Contact a learning advisor for a tailored quote and any current offers.

How much is the PMP exam fee?

PMI charges the exam fee in US dollars, with PMI members paying less than non-members. Fees vary by region and PMI updates them periodically, so confirm the current amount on pmi.org before you apply.

Does PMI membership reduce the cost?

Yes. PMI individual membership lowers the exam fee and gives free access to the PMBOK Guide 8th Edition and other standards, which can offset much of the membership cost if you are sitting the exam. Confirm current fees on pmi.org.

Do you offer group or corporate discounts?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for teams, PMOs and departments in Barbados. Contact us for a tailored group quote.

    Exam

What is the format of the PMP exam?

The PMP exam is a closed-book exam of 180 questions delivered in 230 minutes, including two 10-minute breaks. It uses multiple-choice, multiple-response, matching, hotspot and limited fill-in-the-blank questions based on the PMBOK Guide 8th Edition and the current ECO.

How many questions are on the PMP exam?

The exam has 180 questions and you have 230 minutes (3 hours 50 minutes) to complete it, including two scheduled 10-minute breaks. Questions are scenario-based and test how you apply project management principles.

What are the PMP exam domains?

The current PMBOK Guide 8th Edition exam covers five domains: Project Management Fundamentals (15%), Predictive Methodologies (28%), Agile Frameworks (27%), Business Analysis and Strategic Management (18%), and Stakeholder Engagement and Communication (12%).

What is the passing score for the PMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed percentage pass mark. Your result is determined through psychometric analysis and reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback, so aim for broad mastery across all five domains.

Where and how do I take the PMP exam?

You can sit the exam online through Pearson VUE's OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre. Scheduling is done via PMI or Pearson VUE within your one-year eligibility period.

What if I do not pass the first time?

PMI allows up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period. A re-examination fee applies to the second and third attempts. Our mock exams and practice questions are designed to help you pass first time.

    Course Content

What topics does the PMP training cover?

The training covers the five performance domains of the PMBOK Guide 8th Edition exam: project fundamentals, predictive methodologies, agile frameworks, business analysis and strategic management, and stakeholder engagement, plus exam strategy and application guidance.

Do I need prior experience to take the training?

You can join the training at any experience level, and it delivers the 35 contact hours required to apply. To sit the PMP exam, PMI requires project leadership experience, so we help you check eligibility and document it.

    What learning resources are provided?

You receive PMI-aligned courseware, references to the PMP Examination Content Outline, practice questions, full-length mock exams, an exam simulator, templates and chapter-wise quizzes to build exam readiness.

Are there practice tests and mock exams?

Yes. The programme includes hundreds of practice questions, full-length mock exams and an exam simulator mapped to the 180-question format, helping you identify weak areas and build confidence.

Is the courseware aligned to the latest PMP exam?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the PMBOK Guide 8th Edition and the current PMP Examination Content Outline, covering both predictive and agile or hybrid content as PMI now tests it.

Will I receive a certificate after the training?

Yes. After completing the training you receive a course completion certificate confirming the 35 contact hours of project management education, which count toward your PMP application.
