How to Get PMI-CP Certified in BarbadosStep-by-Step Certification Process

The PMI-CP (PMI Construction Professional) certification path in Barbados is a structured single-exam track. You must complete the four-module training, document 3 years of construction or built-environment project experience earned within the past 10 years, then pass the 120-question, 230-minute PMI-CP exam delivered by PMI through Pearson VUE. From initial training to earning the PMI-CP designation typically takes 1-3 months.

After passing the exam, PMI issues your PMI-CP digital badge and certificate. The designation is valid for three years and is renewable via PMI's Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR) programme by earning PDUs in construction and built-environment-relevant content across the 3-year cycle.

Who should take PMI-CP training in Barbados?

PMI-CP training suits construction project managers, site and project engineers, quantity surveyors, owner's representatives and consultants working on building, civil and infrastructure projects. It is ideal for professionals delivering Barbados hotel, resort and public infrastructure work.

Is the PMI-CP recognised in Barbados?

Yes. As a PMI credential, the PMI-CP carries global recognition through PMI's network in over 200 countries. It is valued by construction firms, developers and consultancies in Barbados and across the Caribbean that seek globally recognised project management expertise.

Is a PMP required before the PMI-CP?

No. The PMP is not a prerequisite for the PMI-CP. You can apply based on your construction project management experience and education. The two credentials are complementary, with the PMP covering general project management and the PMI-CP validating construction-specific expertise.

How long is the PMI-CP certification valid?

The PMI-CP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle (Ways of Working, Power Skills and Business Acumen, with at least 8 PDUs in each) within the three-year cycle via PMI's CCR system.

    Pricing

How much does PMI-CP training cost in Barbados?

Instructor-led PMI-CP training fees vary by format and schedule, and full pricing is available on request. The fee covers courseware, practice questions and learner support, while the PMI exam fee is billed separately. Request a quote for current Barbados batch pricing.

What is the passing score for the PMI-CP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score and does not publish a fixed number. Results are reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback (Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement), so aim for broad mastery across all four domains.

How many attempts do I get for the PMI-CP exam?

Where can I take the PMI-CP exam in Barbados?

    Course Content

What topics does the PMI-CP training cover?

The training covers all four ECO domains: Contracts Management, Stakeholder Engagement, Strategy and Scope Management, and Project Governance. This spans contract types, administration, claims, stakeholder engagement, scope, schedule, budget, risk, quality and governance.

What are the four mandatory prerequisite modules?

Before applying, you must complete four self-paced PMI-CP modules in any order, each worth 14 PDUs: Project Communications, Interface Management, Scope and Change Order Management, and Contract and Risk Management, for 56 PDUs in total. Our training guides you through them.

Does this training meet the 35 contact hours requirement?

The programme provides 32 contact hours of instructor-led training, close to but below the 35 contact hours of project management education PMI requires. Check with us on how supplementary self-study or pre-reading is credited toward the 35-hour requirement.

    What learning materials are included?

You receive PMI-aligned courseware, references to the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline and Handbook, practice questions, mock exams, and application guidance, all mapped to the four exam domains.

Is the courseware aligned to the current ECO?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current PMI-CP Examination Content Outline and the current edition of the PMBOK Guide, so you prepare against the exact domains and weights PMI tests.

You complete the four mandatory modules plus one of three experience sets: a secondary diploma with 60 months of construction PM experience, a bachelor's degree with 36 months, or a GAC-accredited degree with 24 months. All sets need 35 contact hours of PM education.
