Market Forces Fuelling Demand for Program Leaders in Perth

    Resources Capital Programs at Scale

Western Australia runs a A$55 billion project pipeline across mining, energy and infrastructure, demanding program-grade governance, benefits tracking and cross-project coordination that the PgMP is built to deliver.

PgMP builds governance and coordination skills

    LNG and Energy Megaprojects

Scarborough, Pluto Train 2 and the Perth-based operations centre coordinate thousands of interdependencies. Employers need leaders who can govern multiple related projects as one benefits-driven program.

    PgMP builds multi-project program leadership

    Energy-Transition Complexity

H2Perth, critical minerals and grid modernisation bundle many projects into strategic programs, creating demand for benefits-led governance and disciplined program planning.

    PgMP builds benefits-led governance skills

    Strategy-Execution Gap

Boards fund transformation and capex programs, but weak links between strategy and the funded project mix cause value leakage that certified program managers are hired to close.

PgMP builds prioritisation and value skills

    Program Talent Scarcity

Perth's PM pool is deep in PMP project managers but thin in credentialed program leaders. The PgMP's rigorous eligibility and panel review make holders rare and sought-after.

PgMP makes certified program leaders stand out

    Capital-Efficiency Pressure

Cost discipline in resources, utilities and government pushes organisations to optimise the program mix, retire low-value work and rebalance investment to strategy.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

The Program Management Professional (PgMP) is PMI's senior credential for professionals who manage multiple related projects as a coordinated program to deliver strategic benefits. It is designed for senior program managers, PMO heads, directors of delivery and business-transformation leaders with substantial program experience.

    General

What is the PgMP certification and who is it for?

The Program Management Professional (PgMP) is PMI's senior credential for professionals who manage multiple related projects as a coordinated program to deliver strategic benefits. It is designed for senior program managers, PMO heads, directors of delivery and business-transformation leaders with substantial program experience.

Is the PgMP worth it for professionals in Perth?

Yes. Perth's A$55 billion project pipeline and its resources, energy and infrastructure programs are creating strong demand for certified program leaders. The PgMP is reported to command a 10 to 25 percent pay premium over PMP-only holders, and maps to senior roles from Program Manager to PMO Director. Talk to a learning advisor to plan your path.

Is the PgMP recognised in Australia?

Yes. The PgMP is a globally recognised PMI credential valued by employers across Australia and worldwide, including the resources, LNG, utilities, infrastructure and consulting organisations that run large project programs in Perth and Western Australia.

What is the difference between PMP and PgMP?

The PMP validates competency in managing individual projects, while the PgMP validates managing multiple related projects as a program to deliver strategic benefits. The PgMP is more senior, with more rigorous prerequisites and an additional multi-rater panel review.

How long is the PgMP certification valid?

The PgMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle, with a minimum of 8 PDUs in each area, within every three-year continuing certification requirements (CCR) cycle.

    Pricing

What is included in the PgMP course fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, exam-simulator access, downloadable templates, application and panel-review support, learner support and a course completion certificate with contact hours. Request a quote for the current inclusions.

How much does PgMP training cost in Perth?

Instructor-led PgMP training in Perth is quoted based on your chosen format, with self-paced, live online and corporate options available. The PMI exam fee is billed separately and is not part of the training fee. Contact us for current pricing and a tailored quote.

Is the PMI exam fee included in the training price?

No. PMI bills the PgMP exam fee separately in USD under regional pricing. PMI members pay a lower rate than non-members, and individual membership also provides free access to The Standard for Program Management. Confirm current fees on the PMI store before applying.

Do you offer group or corporate discounts for PgMP training?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for PMOs, business units and leadership teams across Perth. Ask about corporate and group pricing for a tailored quote.

What payment methods and instalment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and offer instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

What is the format of the PgMP exam?

The PgMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PgMP Examination Content Outline and The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition. It uses scenario-based questions across the five program management performance domains.

How many questions are on the PgMP exam and how long is it?

The PgMP exam has 170 questions and an allotted time of four hours (240 minutes). It is delivered online via Pearson VUE OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

What are the PgMP exam domains and their weights?

There are five domains: Strategic Program Management (11%), Program Life Cycle Management (44%), Benefits Management (11%), Stakeholder Engagement (16%) and Governance (18%). Program Life Cycle Management is the largest, so weight your preparation accordingly.

What is the PgMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to the PgMP. A panel of program management practitioners evaluates your documented experience. It must be passed in addition to the written exam to earn the credential, and our training includes guidance on preparing for it.

What happens if I do not pass the PgMP exam the first time?

PMI permits up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period from application approval. Reexamination fees apply to the second and third attempts, and our prep resources and trainer support help you close gaps before you resit.

What is the passing score for the PgMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed percentage pass mark. Results are determined through psychometric analysis and reported with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so aim for broad mastery across all five domains.

    Course Content

What topics are covered in the PgMP training?

The training covers the five PgMP performance domains: Strategic Program Management, Program Life Cycle Management, Benefits Management, Stakeholder Engagement and Governance, plus program-management tools, the PgMP application and exam strategy.

Which standard and edition is the training aligned to?

The training is aligned to The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition, and the current PgMP Examination Content Outline (ECO), so your preparation matches what PMI tests across the five performance domains.

Are practice tests, mock exams and templates included?

Yes. The program includes practice questions, full-length mock exams, an exam simulator, program-management templates and topic-wise quizzes to help you identify weak areas and build exam readiness.

Do I need a PMP before taking the PgMP?

No. The PMP is not a mandatory prerequisite for the PgMP. However, an active PMP satisfies the project management experience requirement across all three eligibility sets, so PMP holders only need to document their program management experience.

Will I get support with the application and panel review?

Yes. The training includes guidance on documenting your program management experience for the PMI application and preparing for the multi-rater panel review, which is a mandatory step alongside the written exam.

    Enrollment

What are the eligibility requirements for the PgMP exam?

PMI offers three sets. With a secondary diploma you need 4 years of project management experience or an active PMP, plus 7 years of program management experience. With a bachelor's degree you need 4 years of each. All experience must fall within the past 15 years.

How do I enrol in the PgMP course?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you will receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. Talk to a learning advisor if you would like help choosing.

What training formats are available in Perth?

We offer live online (live virtual) instructor-led training, self-paced e-learning and customised corporate group training, so you can choose the format that fits your schedule and how your team works in Perth.

How soon can I start the PgMP training?

New live online cohorts run regularly, and self-paced learning lets you begin straight after enrolment. See upcoming schedules or talk to a learning advisor to pick the batch that suits you.

What is the refund or reschedule policy?

Refunds and cancellations are handled per our published policy, and selected plans include a money-back guarantee and Flexi options to reschedule or transfer to another batch. Contact our team for the details that apply to your enrolment.
