What Is the PgMP and Who Is It For?UntitledPMI's Senior Programme Credential

The Program Management Professional (PgMP) is the Project Management Institute's senior credential for professionals who manage multiple related projects as a coordinated programme to deliver strategic benefits that separate projects could not achieve alone. Held by fewer than 3,000 practitioners worldwide, it is one of PMI's most exclusive certifications, and PgMP certification training in Zimbabwe gives ambitious programme leaders a structured route towards it. Invensis Learning's programme is aligned to The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition, and the PgMP Examination Content Outline (ECO). You build capability across the five performance domains that PMI tests, Strategic Program Management, Program Life Cycle Management, Benefits Management, Stakeholder Engagement and Governance, and learn to link programmes to organisational strategy, govern benefits, and steer complex stakeholder environments. The training suits senior programme managers, PMO heads, delivery directors and transformation leaders across Zimbabwe's mining, telecommunications, banking and public sectors. You also receive guidance on the PMI application and the multi-rater panel review, so you move from learning to a supported certification path. Start your PgMP journey with Invensis Learning.

Programme Leadership Careers in ZimbabweWhy the PgMP Is Worth Earning

Programme leadership is becoming a distinct career track in Zimbabwe as mining, telecommunications, banking and donor-funded organisations scale up complex, strategy-critical programmes. Employers running mineral-beneficiation investment, enterprise digital transformation and national infrastructure need leaders who can coordinate related projects and govern benefits, not just deliver single projects. Demand concentrates at the senior end, from Programme Manager to Head of PMO and Programme Director, and here is what the market is signalling right now.

What Is Driving PgMP Demand Across Zimbabwe

    Scarce Programme-Level Talent

Zimbabwe's talent pool is deep in project managers but thin in credentialed programme leaders. The PgMP's advanced eligibility and panel review make holders rare and sought-after.

PgMP makes certified programme leaders stand out

    Mining Capital Programmes

Platinum, gold and lithium investment is driving large, multi-project capital programmes that need portfolio-grade prioritisation, benefits tracking and risk aggregation at scale.

PgMP builds programme governance and risk skills

    Digital Transformation Drive

Banks and telecoms such as those anchoring the ZSE run enterprise digital-transformation programmes across many workstreams, demanding leaders who govern related projects as one programme.

    PgMP builds strategic alignment capability

    Donor and NGO Programme Delivery

Health, humanitarian and development programmes funded by donors require formal benefits realisation and governance, the exact discipline the PgMP is built to validate.

    PgMP builds benefits-management skills

    Strategy-Execution Gap

Boards approve transformation and capital programmes, but weak links between strategy and the funded project mix cause value leakage that programme leaders are hired to fix.

PgMP builds prioritisation and value-realisation skills

    National Infrastructure Push

NDS1 and Vision 2030 energy, roads and water programmes bundle many interdependent projects, demanding governance, escalation paths and coordination beyond single-project delivery.

    PgMP builds cross-project coordination skills

    Your Zimbabwe Career Transformation

From Delivery Lead to Programme Authority

    Your PgMP Career Shift

Zimbabwe's programme and project market is expanding with mining investment, digital transformation and national infrastructure, and employers increasingly separate credentialed programme leaders from the rest. Here is which side of that line you want to be on.

    Today

Pay capped with little leverage to negotiate in the local market

    After PgMP

Senior programme roles in Zimbabwe reach around US$5,500 a month and above

    Today

Overlooked for roles that list PgMP as preferred

    After PgMP

Eligible for senior programme roles across mining, telecom and banking

    Today

Confident in delivery, but employers want programme-level governance

    After PgMP

Fluent in linking programmes to strategy and governing benefits at scale

    You earn your PgMP

    Before

Programme authority rests on job title and tenure, not a credential

    Now you have

A PMI credential recognised by leading Zimbabwean and global employers

    Before

Stuck at project level with no formal programme mandate

    Now you have

A clear route into programme director and PMO head roles

    Before

Focused on delivery, with limited line of sight to strategy

    Now you have

The governance, benefits and stakeholder skills senior employers want

    Before

Recognition fades when you change sector or move across borders

    Now you have

A globally portable credential that travels across sectors and borders

"The gap between delivering projects and leading a programme is increasingly a recognised credential, and the employers that matter already know it."

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

The Program Management Professional (PgMP) is PMI's senior credential for professionals who manage multiple related projects as a coordinated programme to deliver strategic benefits. It suits senior programme managers, PMO heads, delivery directors and transformation leaders with substantial programme experience.

    General

What is the PgMP certification and who is it for?

The Program Management Professional (PgMP) is PMI's senior credential for professionals who manage multiple related projects as a coordinated programme to deliver strategic benefits. It suits senior programme managers, PMO heads, delivery directors and transformation leaders with substantial programme experience.

Is the PgMP worth it for professionals in Zimbabwe?

Yes. As mining, telecom, banking and donor-funded organisations scale complex programmes, credentialed programme leaders are in demand at the senior end. Programme director roles in Zimbabwe reach around US$5,500 a month and above, and fewer than 3,000 people worldwide hold the PgMP, making it a strong differentiator.

Is the PgMP recognised in Zimbabwe?

Yes. The PgMP is a globally recognised PMI credential valued by employers across Zimbabwe and worldwide, including mining, telecommunications, banking and public-sector organisations that run large, strategy-critical programmes.

Do I need the PMP before the PgMP?

No. The PMP is not a mandatory prerequisite. However, an active PMP satisfies the project management experience requirement across all three PgMP eligibility sets, so PMP holders only need to document their programme management experience.

How long is the PgMP certification valid?

The PgMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle, with at least 8 PDUs in each area, within each three-year continuing certification requirements (CCR) cycle.

    Pricing

How much does PgMP training cost in Zimbabwe?

PgMP training fees in Zimbabwe are available on request and vary by format, whether live online, classroom or corporate group training. Contact a learning advisor for a tailored quote for your chosen batch.

What is included in the PgMP course fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, 24 contact hours, practice questions and mock exams, downloadable templates, guidance on the PMI application and panel review, learner support and a course completion certificate. Request a quote for the full inclusions.

Is the PMI exam fee included in the training price?

No. PMI bills the PgMP exam fee separately in USD under regional pricing, for reference around US$800 for members and US$1,000 for non-members. Verify the current fee on pmi.org, as PMI updates pricing periodically.

Do you offer group or corporate discounts?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for PMOs, transformation offices and leadership teams. Ask about corporate and group pricing for your team.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and offer instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

How many questions are on the PgMP exam and how long is it?

The PgMP exam has 170 questions and a four-hour (240-minute) allotted time. It is closed book, using multiple-choice question formats, delivered online proctored through Pearson VUE OnVUE or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

What are the PgMP exam domains and their weights?

The exam covers five performance domains from the PgMP ECO: Strategic Program Management (11%), Program Life Cycle Management (44%), Benefits Management (11%), Stakeholder Engagement (16%) and Governance (18%). It is based on The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition.

What is the PgMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to the PgMP. A panel of programme management practitioners evaluates your documented experience and competency. It is a mandatory step alongside the written exam, and both must be passed to earn the credential.

What if I do not pass the PgMP exam on the first attempt?

You have up to three attempts within the one-year eligibility period that begins when your application is approved. Reexamination fees apply to the second and third attempts; confirm the current amounts on pmi.org before rebooking.

What is the passing score for the PgMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed percentage pass mark. The result is determined through psychometric analysis, with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so aim for broad mastery across all five domains.

    Course Content

What topics does the PgMP training cover?

The training covers the five PgMP performance domains: Strategic Program Management, Program Life Cycle Management, Benefits Management, Stakeholder Engagement and Governance, plus guidance on the PMI application, the panel review and exam strategy.

Which standard is the courseware aligned to?

The courseware is aligned to PMI's Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition, and the current PgMP Examination Content Outline, so what you study matches what the exam and panel review assess.

Do I need prior experience to benefit from the training?

The PgMP is a senior credential, so the training assumes real programme management experience. To sit the exam, PMI requires several years of programme experience under one of three eligibility sets, but anyone leading multiple projects can benefit from the course content.

Are practice questions and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions, full-length mock exams and topic-wise quizzes mapped to the PgMP ECO, helping you identify weak areas and build readiness for the 170-question, four-hour exam.

Will I receive a completion certificate and contact hours?

Yes. After meeting the course requirements you receive a course completion certificate along with 24 contact hours from the instructor-led training, which support your preparation and professional record.

    Enrollment

How soon can I start and how do I enrol?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website by choosing your preferred format and completing payment, after which you receive access to schedules, courseware and resources. See upcoming batches or talk to a learning advisor to get started in Zimbabwe.

What eligibility do I need to sit the PgMP exam?

PMI offers three eligibility sets. With a secondary diploma you need 48 months of project management experience (or an active PMP) plus 84 months of programme experience; with a bachelor's degree the programme requirement drops to 48 months, and to 36 months with a GAC-accredited degree.

    What training formats are available?

We offer live virtual (online) instructor-led training, classroom training and customised corporate group training, so you can choose the format that fits your schedule and learning preference.

Can I reschedule or transfer to another batch?

Yes. Flexi options let you reschedule or transfer to another batch, and selected plans let you attend the training twice. Contact our support team to arrange this.

What is the refund or cancellation policy?

Refunds and cancellations are handled per our published policy, and selected plans include a money-back option. Reach out to our team for the details that apply to your enrolment.
