It suits product designers, design and quality engineers, product managers, R&D professionals and Six Sigma practitioners in Trinidad and Tobago.

    General

What is Quality Function Deployment training and who is it for?

Quality Function Deployment (QFD) training is a practical, one-day course that teaches you to translate customer requirements into design and engineering decisions using the House of Quality. It suits product designers, design and quality engineers, product managers, R&D professionals and Six Sigma practitioners in Trinidad and Tobago.

Is QFD worth learning in Trinidad and Tobago?

Yes. As the country grows non-energy manufacturing and exports, employers increasingly value people who can design around real customer needs. QFD is a cross-industry skill used in manufacturing, consumer goods, energy, financial services and software, so it applies across many local sectors.

What is the House of Quality?

The House of Quality is the central QFD matrix. It links customer requirements to measurable engineering characteristics, weights their importance, benchmarks competitors, and reveals design conflicts through its correlation roof, so design decisions are driven by what customers actually value.

Do I need prior experience to take this course?

No. There are no formal prerequisites. Familiarity with product development or quality management helps, but the course introduces QFD and the House of Quality from first principles, so beginners and experienced practitioners can both benefit.

    Who developed QFD?

QFD was developed in Japan by Yoji Akao and Shigeru Mizuno in the late 1960s and early 1970s, with an early application at Mitsubishi's Kobe Shipyard. It later spread to automotive and manufacturing worldwide and is now used across many industries.

    Pricing

How much does the QFD training cost in Trinidad and Tobago?

Pricing depends on the delivery format, group size and whether you enrol as an individual or a corporate team, so course fees are available on request. Contact a learning advisor for a current quote tailored to your needs.

What is included in the course fee?

The fee typically covers instructor-led training across all six QFD modules, structured courseware and learning resources, hands-on House of Quality exercises, and a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning. Request a quote for the full inclusions.

Do you offer group or corporate rates?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for product, quality and R&D teams. Ask about group pricing for a tailored quote for your organisation.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and instalment options are available on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

Is the QFD course good value for the time invested?

Yes. In a single day you gain a practical, cross-industry skill you can apply immediately, from running Voice of the Customer sessions to building a House of Quality. For teams, it reduces late redesigns and rework. Request a quote to see options for you or your team.

    Assessment

Is there an exam for the QFD course?

No. This is a non-certification skills course with no examination. Learning is reinforced through hands-on House of Quality construction, case examples and team discussion during the one-day programme.

Do I receive a certificate after the training?

Yes. You receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning after finishing the programme. No external credential or awarding body is involved, as QFD is a practical methodology rather than a certification.

How am I assessed during the course?

There is no formal assessment. Instead, you apply what you learn directly by building and interpreting a House of Quality on a realistic product or service scenario, so you leave able to use the method at work.

Will this help with my Six Sigma or DFSS work?

Yes. QFD is a core tool in the Design for Six Sigma Measure phase and the DMAIC Define phase. The course shows how to translate the Voice of the Customer into critical-to-quality requirements within those projects.

Can I apply QFD at work straight after the course?

Yes. The course is built for immediate application. Because you practise on a realistic scenario, you leave able to facilitate a Voice of the Customer session, build a House of Quality, and cascade priorities into design and process decisions on your own projects.

    Course Content

What topics does the QFD training cover?

The course covers QFD principles and origins, capturing and structuring the Voice of the Customer, building the House of Quality, interpreting it for design priorities, cascading QFD through four phases, and applying QFD in DFSS, DMAIC and service design.

What will I be able to do after the course?

You will be able to capture and structure the Voice of the Customer, build a complete House of Quality, calculate design priorities and engineering targets, resolve trade-offs using the roof, and cascade requirements into parts, process and production planning.

    How long is the training?

The course is delivered as a one-day, eight-hour programme covering all six QFD modules with hands-on House of Quality exercises throughout. An extended two half-day format is also available.

Does QFD apply to services and software, not just products?

Yes. While QFD began in manufacturing, the course covers service applications such as healthcare, financial services and IT, as well as software. The House of Quality applies wherever customer needs must be translated into design or delivery specifications.

    Are the sessions hands-on?

Yes. You build a House of Quality during the session using a realistic scenario, and practise Voice of the Customer structuring, Kano classification, importance calculations and conflict identification, so the learning is practical rather than theoretical.

    Enrollment

How do I enrol in the QFD course?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete registration, and you will receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. Talk to a learning advisor if you need help choosing.

    What training formats are available?

We offer live virtual (online) instructor-led training, in-person classroom sessions, and customised corporate on-site training, so you can choose the format that best fits your schedule and team.

Can you deliver this on-site for our team?

Yes. The course is available as a corporate on-site programme, which works especially well because your team can build a House of Quality for one of your own real products during the exercises. Ask about corporate training for details.

    How soon can I start?

Public sessions run regularly in live virtual and classroom formats, and corporate sessions are scheduled around your team's availability. See upcoming schedules or talk to a learning advisor to find the next suitable date.

    Can I reschedule my enrolment?

Yes. Flexible options let you reschedule or transfer to another session where needed. Contact our support team to arrange this and confirm the terms that apply to your enrolment.
