PMI-RMP builds risk strategy and planning skills

    Digital Growth Outpacing Risk Controls

Thailand's digital economy nears THB 5.6 trillion in 2026, and fast agile delivery in Chiang Mai software houses needs disciplined risk governance to keep pace without value leakage.

PMI-RMP covers agile and hybrid risk

Gateway Complexity to Laos and Myanmar

Chiang Mai's role as a northern gateway adds cross-border, regulatory and supply-chain uncertainty that programmes must actively identify, assess and manage.

    PMI-RMP builds risk identification skills

    Scarce Certified Risk Specialists

Thailand has a deep pool of project managers but few credentialed risk professionals. PMI-RMP eligibility and its focused exam make holders rare and sought-after.

BOI-backed data-centre and cloud investment across Thailand raises technical and delivery risk that certified risk managers are increasingly hired to contain.

The Risk Skills You Will BuildAcross All Five PMI-RMP Domains

Set the Risk Strategy and Plan

Skills covered in the PMI-RMP begin here: analyse project documents, confirm risk thresholds and appetite, and build a tailored risk management plan and governance for predictive, agile or hybrid delivery.

    Identify Threats and Opportunities

Run structured identification using brainstorming, the Delphi technique, SWOT, assumption and constraint analysis and a risk breakdown structure, then capture clear, consistent entries in the risk register.

    Analyse and Prioritise Risk

Apply qualitative probability and impact assessment and quantitative techniques such as expected monetary value, decision trees, sensitivity analysis and Monte Carlo simulation to rank and model risk exposure.

    Plan and Implement Risk Responses

Select and execute strategies for threats (avoid, transfer, mitigate, accept) and opportunities (exploit, share, enhance, accept), assign owners, and build contingency and fallback plans with reserves.

    Monitor, Control and Close Risks

Track triggers, residual and secondary risks, run periodic risk reviews, report on exposure to stakeholders, and formally close risks with lessons learned captured for future projects.

Manage Risk in Agile and Hybrid Delivery

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

The PMI-RMP is PMI's specialist credential in project risk management, recognising expertise in identifying and assessing risks, mitigating threats and capitalising on opportunities. It suits project managers, risk analysts, consultants and PMO professionals who specialise in risk on projects and programmes.

    General

What is the PMI-RMP certification and who is it for?

The PMI-RMP is PMI's specialist credential in project risk management, recognising expertise in identifying and assessing risks, mitigating threats and capitalising on opportunities. It suits project managers, risk analysts, consultants and PMO professionals who specialise in risk on projects and programmes.

Is the PMI-RMP worth it for professionals in Chiang Mai?

Yes. Chiang Mai employers in banking, energy, IT and infrastructure are hiring certified risk specialists, and risk manager pay in Thailand averages around ฿1.76M a year. With a deep project management pool but few credentialed risk professionals, PMI-RMP holders stand out. Talk to a learning advisor about your goals.

Is PMP required before taking the PMI-RMP?

No. The PMP is not a prerequisite for the PMI-RMP. You can apply directly based on your risk management experience and education, though many professionals hold both, as the two credentials are complementary.

How long is the PMI-RMP certification valid?

The PMI-RMP is valid for three years from the date of certification. To maintain it, you earn 30 PDUs in risk management topics within each three-year continuing certification requirements cycle.

    Is the PMI-RMP recognised internationally?

Yes. As a PMI credential, the PMI-RMP is recognised by employers worldwide. It is especially valued in high-risk sectors such as construction, energy, financial services and IT, where formal project risk management is expected.

    Pricing

What is included in the PMI-RMP course fee in Chiang Mai?

The training fee typically covers 32 contact hours of PMI-aligned instruction, courseware, practice questions, mock exams, application guidance and learner support with a completion certificate. The PMI exam fee is billed separately. Request a quote for current pricing.

How much does the PMI-RMP exam cost?

PMI bills the exam in USD, for reference around USD 520 for members and USD 670 for non-members. Prices vary by region, so confirm current fees at pmi.org. PMI membership can lower the exam cost and gives access to the Practice Standard for Project Risk Management.

Is the exam fee included in the training price?

No. The PMI exam fee is paid separately to PMI in USD and is not part of the training fee. We can guide you through membership and exam booking so you choose the most cost-effective route.

Do you offer group or corporate discounts for PMI-RMP training?

    Exam

What is the format of the PMI-RMP exam?

The PMI-RMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice paper of 115 questions completed in 2.5 hours (150 minutes). It is delivered via Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

What are the PMI-RMP exam domains and their weights?

Per the January 2022 ECO, there are five domains: Risk Strategy and Planning (20%), Risk Identification (20%), Risk Analysis (23%), Risk Response (22%) and Monitor and Close Risks (15%).

What is the passing score for the PMI-RMP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score that is not published as a fixed number. Results are reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so aim for broad mastery across all five domains.

How many attempts do I get and can I retake the exam?

You may take up to three attempts within the one-year eligibility period that starts when your application is approved. Re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts; confirm current amounts at pmi.org.

Which standard is the PMI-RMP exam based on?

The exam is based on the PMI-RMP Examination Content Outline, current version effective January 2022, and the PMI Practice Standard for Project Risk Management. It reflects both predictive and agile or hybrid risk approaches.

    Course Content

What topics are covered in the PMI-RMP training?

The training covers all five domains: Risk Strategy and Planning, Risk Identification, Risk Analysis, Risk Response, and Monitor and Close Risks, along with qualitative and quantitative tools, agile and hybrid risk, and exam strategy.

Does this training satisfy the PMI-RMP education requirement?

The 32 contact hours fully satisfy the 30-hour education requirement for Set B (bachelor's degree) and Set C (GAC-accredited degree) candidates. Set A candidates need 40 hours and should add at least 8 further hours of risk management education.

Are there practice tests and mock exams included?

What are the eligibility requirements to sit the PMI-RMP exam?

PMI offers three sets: Set A (secondary diploma, 36 months of risk experience in the last 5 years, 40 hours of education); Set B (bachelor's, 24 months, 30 hours); and Set C (GAC-accredited degree, 12 months, 30 hours). Anyone can enrol in the training itself.
