What is the PfMP certification and who is it for?

Is the PfMP worth it for a career in Chiang Mai?

Is the PfMP recognised internationally?

Yes. As a PMI credential, the PfMP carries global recognition across more than 200 countries and is regarded as a benchmark for portfolio management. It is valued by software, BFSI, manufacturing and public-sector employers in Thailand and worldwide.

What is the difference between the PMP and the PfMP?

The PMP validates managing individual projects using predictive, agile and hybrid approaches. The PfMP validates strategic portfolio management at the executive level, aligning an organisation's programmes and projects to strategy. The PfMP sits two levels above the PMP in PMI's hierarchy.

How long is the PfMP certification valid?

The PfMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle, with a minimum of 8 PDUs in each area, within each three-year continuing certification requirements (CCR) cycle.

What is included in the PfMP course fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, exam simulator access, downloadable templates, application and panel-review support, learner support and a course completion certificate with contact hours. Request a quote for your Chiang Mai batch.

How much does PfMP training cost in Chiang Mai?

Instructor-led PfMP training in Chiang Mai is quoted in Thai Baht and varies by format and cohort. The PMI exam fee is billed separately in USD under regional pricing and is not part of the training fee. Contact a learning advisor for current pricing.

How much is the PfMP exam fee?

PMI bills the exam fee in USD under regional pricing, around USD 800 for members and USD 1,000 for non-members (for reference; verify on pmi.org). PMI membership is roughly USD 139 per year and can reduce the exam and renewal costs.

What is the format of the PfMP exam?

The PfMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PfMP Examination Content Outline and the Standard for Portfolio Management, Fourth Edition. It uses scenario and situational questions across five performance domains.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

The PfMP exam has 170 questions and an allotted time of four hours (240 minutes). It is delivered online via Pearson VUE OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

What are the PfMP exam domains and their weights?

Five domains: Strategic Alignment (25%), Governance (20%), Portfolio Performance (25%), Portfolio Risk Management (14%) and Communications Management (16%). These weights are set by the current PfMP Examination Content Outline.

What is the passing score for the PfMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed percentage pass mark. Results are determined through psychometric analysis and reported as Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement per domain, so focus on broad mastery across all five domains.

What if I do not pass the PfMP exam the first time?

PMI allows up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period. Reexamination fees apply to the second and third attempts. Our training, mock exams and simulator are built to support a strong first attempt; confirm current fees on the PMI store.

What topics are covered in the PfMP training?

The training covers the five PfMP performance domains: Strategic Alignment (25%), Governance (20%), Portfolio Performance (25%), Portfolio Risk Management (14%) and Communications Management (16%), plus PfMP application guidance and exam strategy.

Do I need prior experience to take this course?

Anyone can enrol in the training. To sit the exam, PMI requires 120 months of business experience and portfolio management experience (84, 48 or 36 months depending on your education), all within the last 15 years, plus the panel review.

Which standard and edition is the courseware based on?

The courseware is aligned to PMI's Standard for Portfolio Management, Fourth Edition, and the current PfMP Examination Content Outline, so your preparation matches what the exam evaluates.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions, full-length mock exams, an exam simulator and topic-wise quizzes to help you identify weak areas and build exam readiness across the five domains.

Will I receive a certificate after the training?

Yes. After meeting the course requirements you receive a course completion certificate along with the contact hours earned through the programme, which support your PfMP preparation.
