There are two levels. Fundamentals (2 days) covers projects, issues, Scrum and Kanban boards, sprints, roadmaps, filters, basic JQL and Agile reports. Advanced (3 days) covers custom workflows, schemes, custom fields, advanced JQL, dashboards, Jira Automation, DevOps integrations and administration.

Do I need prior experience to take this course?

For Fundamentals, no. It is designed for people new to Jira, and basic familiarity with web applications is enough. For Advanced, you should have completed Fundamentals or have equivalent hands-on Jira experience, as it covers configuration and administration in depth.

Who develops Jira and is a governing body involved?

Jira is developed by Atlassian Corporation. This is a skills course focused on using the tool, so there is no governing body, no accreditation and no examination involved. Learning is reinforced through hands-on exercises rather than a formal test.

What is included in the course fee?

Are there any additional software costs?

Jira itself is an Atlassian product. Jira Cloud offers a free tier for up to 10 users, which is enough for hands-on practice, while paid Jira Cloud and Data Center plans are commercial. Confirm whether a shared training environment is provided when you enquire.

What payment options are available?

Assessment

Is there an exam for the Jira course?

No. Jira training is a non-certification skills course with no examination at either level. Instead of an exam, you build proficiency through live, hands-on Jira exercises using realistic Agile delivery scenarios throughout the programme.

Do I receive a certificate after completing the training?

You receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning once you complete the programme. This recognises your participation and the practical Jira skills you have built; it is not an external credential, as the course does not award one.

How is my learning assessed during the course?

Learning is reinforced through hands-on exercises, configuration activities and knowledge checks rather than a formal assessment. You practise each feature as the instructor demonstrates it, so you leave able to apply Jira on real projects straight away.

Do I need my own Jira access for the training?

You should have access to a Jira environment during the training. Jira Cloud offers a free trial that is suitable for practice. When you enrol, confirm with us whether a shared training environment is provided or whether you should set up your own Jira Cloud trial.

Which version of Jira does the course cover?

The training is delivered primarily on Jira Cloud, Atlassian's main delivery model, and the concepts also apply to Jira Data Center. It reflects the current Jira platform, so you learn features and interfaces you will actually encounter at work.

What topics does the Jira training cover?

Fundamentals covers projects, the Epic to Subtask issue hierarchy, Scrum and Kanban boards, sprints, roadmaps, versions, filters, basic JQL and Agile reports. Advanced adds custom workflows, schemes, custom fields, advanced JQL, dashboards, Jira Automation, integrations and administration.

Can a complete beginner take this course?

Yes. The Fundamentals level assumes no prior Jira knowledge and starts from navigating the interface and creating projects. Hands-on exercises and instructor guidance mean beginners build confidence quickly, before moving on to Advanced topics if they wish.

Will I learn JQL and Jira Automation?

Yes. Basic JQL and filters are covered at Fundamentals level, while advanced JQL, dashboards and the no-code Jira Automation engine (triggers, conditions, actions and smart values) are covered in depth at Advanced level, along with DevOps integrations.

Does the course cover Jira administration?

Yes, at Advanced level. You learn permission, notification, screen and field configuration schemes, custom fields, user and group management, global settings and governance best practices, so you can administer a Jira instance for your team or organisation.

Is the training hands-on or theory based?

It is hands-on throughout. You follow along in a Jira environment while the instructor demonstrates each feature, then practise with realistic Agile delivery exercises. The focus is applying Jira at work, not just learning about it in theory.

How do I enrol in the Jira course?

What training formats are available?

You can take the Jira course online, or in person with your team. We offer live online (live virtual) instructor-led training, classroom training, onsite delivery and customised corporate group training.
