What is the format of the PRINCE2 Practitioner exam?

It is an open-book, scenario-based objective test based on the PRINCE2 7 Practitioner syllabus and the Managing Successful Projects manual, which is permitted in the exam. Questions use multiple-choice, matching and other objective formats that require analysis rather than recall.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

The exam has 56 questions and sub-questions worth 70 marks, and you have 150 minutes (2 hours 30 minutes) to complete it. It is delivered online through PeopleCert OnVUE proctoring or at an authorised test centre.

What is the passing score for the exam?

The pass mark is 60 percent, which means at least 42 out of 70 marks. Because it is scenario-based, focus on applying and tailoring the method across all nine syllabus areas rather than memorising facts.

What does open book mean for the Practitioner exam?

You may use the PRINCE2 Managing Successful Projects 7th Edition manual during the exam. However, questions require judgement and analysis, so you cannot simply look up answers. Efficient manual navigation and deep method knowledge are both essential.

What if I do not pass the first time?

You can resit the Practitioner exam. Our training focuses on scenario practice and open-book technique to help you pass first time, and selected plans include revision support. Confirm the current PeopleCert resit policy and any resit fee before you book.

What is new in PRINCE2 7 versus PRINCE2 6?

The 7th edition (2023) introduces the People capability as a core element, renames themes to practices, incorporates commercial management, and integrates agile, sustainability and digital data management, alongside updated management products and processes.

Can a Foundation holder take this course?

Yes. PRINCE2 Practitioner is the natural next step after Foundation, which is the prerequisite. You do not need formal work experience, though prior project exposure helps you apply the scenario-based content more easily.
