The Black Belt builds DMAIC and defect-reduction skills

Pressure to Cut Cost and Waste

Margin and capital pressure across industry push firms to eliminate waste and rework. Certified Black Belts bring the Lean and statistical tools to optimise processes.

    Rising Standards and Compliance

Government emphasis on standards and import substitution raises the bar on quality systems, creating demand for professionals who can build robust process control.

Is the Lean Six Sigma Black Belt worth it in Rwanda?

Yes. With certified Black Belts scarce locally, the credential opens senior roles such as Quality Manager and Operations Manager, where Kigali salaries average around RWF 11M to 12M a year. It is a strong career and earnings differentiator. Talk to a learning advisor to learn more.

    Exam

What is the format of the Black Belt exam?

The Black Belt exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination of 150 questions, based on the IASSC Black Belt Body of Knowledge across the five DMAIC phases. A reference document with the required formulas and tables is provided.

How long is the exam and how many questions are there?

The exam has 150 multiple-choice questions and a duration of four hours (240 minutes). Some forms include up to 15 additional unscored questions, and non-native speakers may receive an extra 60 minutes.

What is the passing score for the Black Belt exam?

You need a minimum of 580 points out of 750 to pass the Black Belt exam. Aim for broad mastery across all five DMAIC phases rather than focusing on any single area.

What is the exam application process?

Review the Body of Knowledge and prepare, then optionally take the non-proctored evaluation exam to check readiness. Purchase the exam voucher online, choose your delivery mode, then schedule and sit the 150-question proctored exam. You receive your result and credential on passing.

How and where can I sit the exam?

You can sit the Black Belt exam online with 24/7 web-based proctoring, or at a Pearson VUE test centre. Choose the option that suits you when you book your exam voucher.
