Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

The PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) is PMI's specialist credential in project risk management. It recognises expertise in identifying, assessing and controlling project risks. It suits risk managers, PMP holders, PMO analysts and senior project professionals in Muscat who specialise in risk.

    General

What is the PMI-RMP certification and who is it for?

The PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) is PMI's specialist credential in project risk management. It recognises expertise in identifying, assessing and controlling project risks. It suits risk managers, PMP holders, PMO analysts and senior project professionals in Muscat who specialise in risk.

Is the PMI-RMP worth it for professionals in Muscat?

Yes. Oman's Vision 2040 programmes across energy, construction and banking rely on formal risk management, and specialist risk credentials are scarce. PMI-RMP holders stand out and can access senior risk roles. Talk to a learning advisor about your goals.

    Is the PMI-RMP recognised internationally?

Yes. As a PMI credential, the PMI-RMP is recognised by employers worldwide and is especially valued in high-risk sectors such as oil and gas, construction, energy and financial services that operate across Oman and the wider Gulf.

Do I need a PMP before taking the PMI-RMP?

No. PMP certification is not a prerequisite. You can apply directly based on your project risk management experience and education. Many PMI-RMP holders also hold the PMP, as the two credentials complement each other.

How long is the PMI-RMP valid and how is it renewed?

The PMI-RMP is valid for three years. You maintain it by earning 30 PDUs in risk management topics within each three-year cycle through PMI's Continuing Certification Requirements system.

    Pricing

What is included in the PMI-RMP training fee?

The training fee typically covers PMI-aligned courseware, 32 contact hours of instructor-led sessions, practice questions, mock exams, application guidance and learner support. The PMI exam fee is billed separately. Request a quote for current pricing in Muscat.

How much does PMI-RMP training cost in Muscat?

Training pricing depends on the format you choose, such as online (live virtual), classroom or corporate group training. Exact fees are available on request. Contact a learning advisor for a tailored quote.

How much is the PMI-RMP exam fee?

PMI bills the exam fee separately, with member and non-member rates that vary by region (for reference, around USD 520 for members and USD 670 for non-members). Confirm current fees on pmi.org before applying.

Does PMI membership reduce the cost?

Yes. PMI individual membership lowers the exam fee and gives free access to the PMI Practice Standard for Project Risk Management. Membership is renewed annually; verify the current rate on pmi.org.

Do you offer corporate or group pricing?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for risk and PMO teams in Oman. Contact us for a group quote.

    Exam

What is the format of the PMI-RMP exam?

The PMI-RMP exam is closed-book with multiple-choice questions in single-answer and multiple-answer formats, based on the PMI-RMP Examination Content Outline effective January 2022. It is delivered via Pearson VUE online proctoring or at a test centre.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

The PMI-RMP exam has 115 questions and a duration of 2.5 hours (150 minutes). It covers the five PMI-RMP domains across predictive, agile and hybrid risk management approaches.

What are the PMI-RMP exam domains and their weights?

There are five domains: Risk Strategy and Planning (20%), Risk Identification (20%), Risk Analysis (23%), Risk Response (22%) and Monitor and Close Risks (15%), per the January 2022 ECO.

What is the passing score for the PMI-RMP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score that is not published as a fixed number. Results are reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback, so aim for broad mastery across all five domains.

What if I do not pass the first time?

You have up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period. Our training includes mock exams and prep support to help you feel ready, and re-examination fees apply to later attempts. Ask us about retake support.

    Course Content

What will I learn in the PMI-RMP training?

You will learn to plan risk strategy, identify threats and opportunities, run qualitative and quantitative analysis, plan and implement responses, and monitor and close risks. The content maps to the five PMI-RMP domains.

What standard is the PMI-RMP training based on?

The training is aligned to PMI's PMI-RMP Examination Content Outline effective January 2022 and the PMI Practice Standard for Project Risk Management, reflecting predictive, agile and hybrid delivery.

Does the training satisfy the PMI-RMP education requirement?

The 32 contact hours fully meet the 30-hour risk education requirement for degree-holding candidates (Set B and Set C). Set A candidates with a secondary diploma need 40 hours and should add at least 8 more hours.

    Are quantitative risk tools covered?

Yes. The programme covers Monte Carlo simulation, decision-tree analysis, sensitivity analysis and expected monetary value, alongside qualitative tools such as probability-impact matrices and risk registers.

    What learning resources are included?

You receive PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, full-length mock exams, an exam simulator, templates and quizzes mapped to the exam content outline to build your readiness.

    Enrollment

What are the eligibility requirements for PMI-RMP?

PMI requires one of three sets: a secondary diploma with 36 months of risk experience and 40 hours of education; a bachelor's degree with 24 months and 30 hours; or a GAC-accredited degree with 12 months and 30 hours, all within the last five years.

How do I enrol in the PMI-RMP course in Muscat?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment and receive access to schedules, courseware and resources. See upcoming batches or talk to an advisor.

    What training formats are available?

We offer online (live virtual) instructor-led training, classroom sessions and customised corporate group training, so you can choose the format that best fits your schedule in Oman.

    How soon can I start?

New batches run regularly in live virtual and classroom formats. Contact a learning advisor to see the next available Muscat cohort and reserve your place.

    Can I reschedule my enrolment?

Yes. Flexi options let you reschedule or transfer to another batch, and selected plans include the option to attend the training twice. Contact support to arrange this.
