    BenefitsOf Learning Microsoft Project

    For Individuals

    For Individuals

Microsoft Project skills give you practical control over how projects are planned, resourced and tracked. The training suits project managers, coordinators, planners and PMO professionals who want to work faster and report with authority. Whether you are moving off spreadsheets, stepping up into a scheduling role, or supporting delivery in IT, construction, infrastructure or the public sector, the course builds capability you can use straight away.

If you want to be the person who owns a clean, controllable schedule and can defend it when timelines are challenged, this training is a direct route. You leave able to plan a project end to end, track it against a baseline, and turn raw data into reports leaders act on.

    • Build schedules employers trust, with tasks, dependencies and a defensible critical path
    • Move from spreadsheet tracking to structured, professional project plans
    • Assign and balance resources so work is realistic and over-allocation is caught early
    • Baseline projects and report progress and variance in minutes, not hours
    • Master Earned Value, cost tracking and custom reporting for senior project roles
    • Stand out for planner, scheduler and PMO roles in a skills-short New Zealand market
    • Apply skills immediately across construction, infrastructure, IT and government projects
    • Gain confidence to lead the plan, not just contribute to it
    For Organizations

    For Organizations

Microsoft Project group training helps organisations build consistent, reliable project planning capability across teams. Training can be delivered for delivery teams, PMOs or whole business units. For organisations running a growing pipeline of capital, infrastructure or technology projects, standardising on Microsoft Project improves control, comparability and confidence in delivery data.

If your teams plan and report in inconsistent, hard-to-compare ways, group training creates a shared standard for how schedules are built, baselined and tracked. Leaders get cleaner data, and teams get the skills to deliver on it.

    • Standardise scheduling practice across project teams and the PMO
    • Improve schedule reliability, cost control and forecasting on capital and IT programmes
    • Reduce reliance on a handful of key planners by upskilling the wider team
    • Give teams a shared language for baselines, critical path and Earned Value
    • Tailor training to your own project templates and reporting standards
    • Flexible onsite and live virtual delivery for teams anywhere in New Zealand
    • Build in-house planning capability that scales with your project pipeline
    • Strengthen governance with consistent, comparable project reporting

Where Project Skills Take Your CareerRoles, Demand and Pay in Aotearoa

What Is Driving Demand for Project Scheduling Skills in New Zealand

    The Infrastructure Delivery Squeeze

With $71.2 billion of infrastructure under construction, New Zealand needs planners and managers who can schedule, sequence and control large programmes, not just track them on spreadsheets.

Build scheduling and critical path skills

    An Ageing, Stretched Workforce

Many experienced project managers and planners are nearing retirement, and too few skilled people are replacing them, leaving employers hungry for professionals who can run schedules well.

    Step confidently into planning roles

Cost and Schedule Overruns on Capital Work

Capital discipline in infrastructure, utilities and BFSI demands tight baselines, variance tracking and Earned Value, exactly the control Microsoft Project is built to provide.

Master baselines, tracking and Earned Value

    Fragmented Planning Across Tools

Many teams still run projects on ad hoc spreadsheets that break as scope changes. Standardising on a proper scheduling tool improves control, forecasting and comparability.

    Standardise on structured project plans

    Government IT Programme Complexity

Agencies run multi-year technology programmes that demand resource levelling, master projects and clean status reporting to keep parallel workstreams aligned and on track.

Learn resource levelling and multi-project reporting

    Regional Growth and Rebuild Pressure

Growth in Auckland, Christchurch and the roading corridors is stretching delivery teams, raising demand for planners who can coordinate schedules and resources across projects.

    Pricing

How much does Microsoft Project Training cost in New Zealand?

Fees depend on the level you choose, the delivery format and group size, so pricing is available on request. Fundamentals is a 2-day programme and Advanced is a 3-day programme, and both are offered as public or corporate sessions. Contact a learning advisor for a current quote.

What is included in the course fee?

The fee includes instructor-led sessions, structured courseware and learning resources, hands-on exercises using realistic project scenarios, and learner support. On completing the programme you also receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning.

Do I need to buy the Microsoft Project software separately?

Yes. Microsoft Project is a separate commercial product from Microsoft Corporation, and you should have it installed and accessible on your device for the training. Ask your advisor whether a trial licence is available for the sessions or whether you need to arrange your own licence.

Do you offer group or corporate pricing?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for delivery teams, PMOs and business units. Onsite and live virtual delivery are both available across New Zealand. Contact us for a tailored group quote.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and can arrange invoicing for corporate bookings. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Assessment

Does the course include an exam or certification?

No. Microsoft Project Training is a practical skills course with no examination and no formal credential from an awarding body. Learning is reinforced through hands-on exercises throughout, and you receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning.

Will I receive a certificate after the training?

Yes. After completing the programme you receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning, confirming the practical Microsoft Project skills you have built. The skills are immediately applicable and do not expire.

How is learning reinforced without a test?

Every module is delivered with live Microsoft Project exercises using realistic project scenarios. You follow along and build real schedules as each feature is demonstrated, so you develop genuine proficiency through practice rather than through a formal assessment.

Do I need Microsoft Project installed before attending?

Yes. You should have Microsoft Project installed and accessible on your device before the training so you can complete the hands-on exercises. Confirm software access with your advisor, including whether a trial licence is available for the sessions.

Do I need prior experience to join?

For Fundamentals, no prior experience is needed, though basic familiarity with Windows and Microsoft Office helps. For Advanced, you should have completed Fundamentals or have equivalent hands-on experience using Microsoft Project.

    Course Content

What does the Fundamentals level cover?

Fundamentals covers project setup and calendars, building the work breakdown structure, task dependencies and the critical path, work, material and cost resources, over-allocation, and setting baselines to track progress and report variance. It is a 2-day, 16-hour programme.

What does the Advanced level cover?

Advanced covers task types and advanced scheduling, resource pools and levelling, cost management and Earned Value, custom fields, views, filters and reports, and master projects with subprojects and cross-project links. It is a 3-day, 24-hour programme for experienced users.

How long is each level of the training?

Fundamentals runs over 2 days (16 hours total) and Advanced runs over 3 days (24 hours total). Both are available as full-day sessions or extended half-day formats. Ask your advisor about the current schedule options that suit you.

Which version of Microsoft Project is used?

The training uses a current, supported version of Microsoft Project. The skills apply across Microsoft Project Standard and Professional on the desktop, and Microsoft Project Online as part of Microsoft 365. Confirm the exact version used with your advisor before the session.

    Are the sessions hands-on?

Yes. Both levels are built around live, instructor-led exercises using realistic project scenarios. You work in Microsoft Project alongside the trainer as each feature is demonstrated, which is how you build practical, on-the-job proficiency.

How do I enrol in the Microsoft Project course?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your level and preferred format, complete your booking, and you will receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. Talk to a learning advisor if you would like help choosing the right level.

    What training formats are available?
