What Is the PgMP Certification and Why It MattersUntitledA Senior Programme Credential from PMI

The Program Management Professional (PgMP) is PMI's advanced credential for senior professionals who manage multiple related projects as one coordinated programme to deliver strategic benefits. PgMP certification training in Norway prepares experienced programme leaders to align delivery with organisational strategy, govern at scale, and pass both the written exam and the PMI panel review. Held by fewer than 3,000 practitioners worldwide, the PgMP is one of PMI's most exclusive certifications, which makes it a genuine differentiator for programme directors, PMO leaders and senior delivery managers across Norway's energy, technology, finance and public sectors. The training is aligned to the PgMP Examination Content Outline (ECO) and the Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition, and covers all five performance domains. As Norwegian employers scale energy-transition, offshore wind, digitalisation and public-service programmes, they increasingly value leaders who can connect strategy to execution. Earn your PgMP with Invensis Learning and take a clear, supported route from experienced practitioner to certified programme leader.

Where a Programme Career Leads in NorwayRoles, Demand and Pay

The PgMP has become a senior marker of programme leadership across Norway, valued by energy, technology, finance and public-sector employers that run large, strategy-critical programmes. As enterprises scale energy-transition, offshore wind and digitalisation work, and as PMOs mature into strategy-execution functions, credentialed programme leaders are increasingly sought after. What Is Fuelling Programme Management Demand in Norway

    Energy Transition Programmes at Scale

Equinor, Aker and Yara are investing billions in offshore wind, carbon capture and hydrogen. These multi-year, multi-project programmes need programme-grade governance and benefits management, the exact gap PgMP is built to close.

PgMP builds strategic alignment and governance skills

    Sovereign Cloud and AI Build-Out

Telenor's Skygard platform and the Aker-led Stargate Norway AI project demand coordination across infrastructure, data and vendor workstreams, where programme leaders align interdependent projects to one strategic outcome.

    PgMP builds programme coordination skills

    Public-Service Digitalisation

Norway's health, transport and public-service modernisation programmes span many agencies and suppliers. Weak links between strategy and the funded project mix cause value leakage that certified programme leaders are hired to fix.

PgMP builds stakeholder and benefits skills

    Programme Talent Scarcity

Norway's delivery pool is deep in project managers but thin in credentialed programme managers. PgMP's advanced eligibility and panel review make holders rare and sought-after by senior employers.

PgMP makes certified programme leaders stand out

    Capital Discipline and Value Leakage

Cost pressure across energy services, finance and technology pushes boards to optimise where money is spent. Programme leaders who kill low-value work and rebalance to strategy protect returns at scale.

PgMP builds prioritisation and value-realisation skills

    Cross-Vendor Programme Complexity

Offshore, maritime and infrastructure programmes in Norway run under strict HSE, regulatory and contractual frameworks across many contractors, demanding programme-level risk aggregation and disciplined decision gates.

    Your Norway Career Transformation

How PgMP Changes Where You Stand

    Now you have

    Before

Stuck at project or delivery level with no formal programme mandate

    Now you have

A clear route into programme director and PMO head roles

    Before

Delivery focused, with limited visibility of strategy

The governance skills employers want: prioritisation, benefits and risk at scale

    Before

Recognition limited when you change sector or employer

    Now you have

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

The PgMP is PMI's advanced credential for professionals who manage multiple related projects as a coordinated programme to deliver strategic benefits. It is designed for programme managers, PMO heads, directors of delivery and senior practitioners with substantial programme experience.

    General

What is the PgMP certification and who is it for?

The PgMP is PMI's advanced credential for professionals who manage multiple related projects as a coordinated programme to deliver strategic benefits. It is designed for programme managers, PMO heads, directors of delivery and senior practitioners with substantial programme experience.

Is the PgMP worth it for professionals in Norway?

Yes. With fewer than 3,000 holders worldwide, the PgMP is a strong differentiator in Norway, where energy, technology, finance and public-sector employers run large, strategy-critical programmes. Certified programme leaders are in demand as PMOs mature into strategy-execution functions.

Is the PgMP recognised in Norway?

Yes. As a PMI credential recognised in over 200 countries, the PgMP carries global recognition and is valued by Norwegian and international employers across energy, offshore, IT, finance and the public sector.

Do I need PMP before taking PgMP?

No. PMP is not a mandatory prerequisite for the PgMP. However, an active PMP satisfies the project management experience requirement across all three eligibility sets, so PMP holders only need to document their programme management experience.

How long is the PgMP valid and how do I renew it?

The PgMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle, with at least 8 PDUs in each area, within every three-year continuing certification requirements cycle.

    Pricing

What is included in the PgMP training fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, application and panel-review support, learner support and a course completion certificate with contact hours. Ask about corporate or group pricing for a tailored quote.

How much does the PgMP exam cost?

PMI bills the PgMP exam fee separately in USD under regional pricing, around USD 800 for members and USD 1,000 for non-members; verify current fees at pmi.org. PMI membership, around USD 139 a year, lowers the exam cost and gives free access to the Standard for Program Management.

Is the PMI exam fee included in the training price?

No. The PMI exam fee is paid separately to PMI in USD and is not part of the training fee. Your training with Invensis Learning covers preparation, courseware and application support. Talk to a learning advisor for a full cost breakdown.

Do you offer group or corporate pricing in Norway?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for PMOs, transformation offices and leadership teams across Norway. Contact us for a group quote for your team.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and offer instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

What is the format of the PgMP exam?

The PgMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PgMP Examination Content Outline and the Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition. It uses scenario-based questions across the five programme performance domains.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

The exam has 170 questions and an allotted time of four hours (240 minutes). It is delivered online via Pearson VUE OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

What are the five PgMP domains and their weights?

The five domains are Strategic Program Management (11%), Program Life Cycle Management (44%), Benefits Management (11%), Stakeholder Engagement (16%) and Governance (18%), as set out in the PgMP Examination Content Outline.

What is the PgMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to the PgMP. A panel of programme management practitioners evaluates your documented experience. It is a mandatory step alongside the written exam; both must be passed to earn the credential.

What is the passing score and how many attempts do I get?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score that is not published as a fixed number; results are reported with domain-level feedback. You have up to three attempts within the one-year eligibility period from application approval.

Where can I take the PgMP exam in Norway?

You can sit the exam online from home or office via Pearson VUE OnVUE proctoring, or at a Pearson VUE test centre. Scheduling is done through PMI's portal or the Pearson VUE website within your eligibility period.

    Course Content

What topics does the PgMP training cover?

The training covers all five performance domains: Strategic Program Management, Program Life Cycle Management, Benefits Management, Stakeholder Engagement and Governance, plus application, panel-review preparation and exam strategy.

Which standard and edition is the course based on?

The course is aligned to the PgMP Examination Content Outline and the Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition, from PMI, so your preparation reflects the current basis of the exam.

Are practice questions and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions, full-length mock exams and topic-wise quizzes mapped to the 4th Edition standard and the ECO, so you can identify weak areas and build exam readiness.

Will I receive a certificate of completion?

Yes. After meeting the course requirements you receive a course completion certificate along with the contact hours earned through the programme, useful for your PMI application and PDU records.

Do I need prior experience to follow the course?

The course is built for experienced practitioners, since the PgMP itself requires substantial project and programme management experience. Anyone can attend the training, but you will get the most from it if you already lead or coordinate programmes.

    Enrollment

What are the eligibility requirements for the PgMP?

PMI offers three sets. With a secondary diploma you need 48 months of project experience (or a PMP) plus 84 months of programme experience; with a bachelor's degree, 48 months of each; a GAC-accredited degree reduces the programme requirement to 36 months. All experience must fall within the past 15 years.

How do I enrol in the PgMP course?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you will receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. Talk to a learning advisor to see upcoming batches.

What training formats are available in Norway?

We offer online (live virtual) instructor-led training, classroom sessions and customised corporate group training for teams across Norway, so you can choose the format that fits your schedule.

Can I reschedule or transfer to another batch?

Yes. Flexi options let you reschedule or transfer to another batch, and selected plans let you attend the training twice. Contact support to arrange this.

What is the refund or cancellation policy?

Refunds and cancellations are handled per our published policy, and selected plans include a money-back guarantee. Reach out to our team for the details that apply to your enrolment.
