    What is the format of the PfMP exam?

    The PfMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PfMP Examination Content Outline and the Standard for Portfolio Management, Fourth Edition. It uses scenario and situational questions across the five performance domains.

    How many questions are on the PfMP exam and how long is it?

    The exam has 170 questions and a four-hour time limit. It is delivered via Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

    What are the PfMP exam domains and their weights?

    Five domains: Strategic Alignment (25%), Governance (20%), Portfolio Performance (25%), Portfolio Risk Management (14%) and Communications Management (16%). Aim for broad mastery across all five.

    What is the passing score for the PfMP exam?

    PMI does not publish a fixed percentage pass mark. The result is determined through psychometric analysis, with domain feedback reported as Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so focus on mastery across all five domains.

    What is the PfMP panel review and what if I do not pass the exam first time?

    The panel review is a multi-rater assessment of your documented portfolio experience by portfolio management practitioners; both it and the exam must be passed.
