    Is PMP required before PMI-CP?

    Exam

What is the format of the PMI-CP exam?

The PMI-CP exam is closed book with multiple-choice questions, including single-answer and multiple-answer formats. It is delivered via Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre, and is based on the current PMI-CP Examination Content Outline.

How many questions are on the PMI-CP exam and how long is it?

The PMI-CP exam has 120 questions and an allotted time of 230 minutes (3 hours 50 minutes). Questions are distributed across the four exam domains defined in the PMI-CP ECO.

What are the PMI-CP exam domains and their weights?

The exam covers four domains per the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%). Contracts Management is the largest, reflecting its central role in construction.

What is the passing score for the PMI-CP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score that is not published as a fixed number. Results are reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so aim for broad mastery across all four domains.

What if I do not pass the exam the first time?

You are allowed up to three attempts within the one-year eligibility window from application approval. Reexamination fees apply to later attempts, and our preparation resources and trainer guidance are designed to build your readiness before you sit the exam.

What are the prerequisites for the PMI-CP exam?

You must complete all four mandatory self-paced PMI-CP modules and meet one of three experience sets: Set A (secondary diploma plus 60 months construction PM experience), Set B (bachelor's degree plus 36 months), or Set C (GAC-accredited degree plus 24 months). All sets require 35 contact hours of PM education.

    Course Content

What topics does the PMI-CP training cover?

The training covers the four PMI-CP domains: Contracts Management, Stakeholder Engagement, Strategy and Scope Management, and Project Governance. You learn contract and delivery methods, claims and variations, stakeholder engagement, scope and schedule control, risk, quality and governance.

What are the four mandatory PMI-CP prerequisite modules?

Before applying, candidates complete four self-paced modules in any order: Project Communications, Interface Management, Scope and Change Order Management, and Contract and Risk Management. Each is a 6 to 10 hour commitment and awards 14 PDUs, for 56 PDUs in total.

Is the courseware aligned to the current PMI-CP syllabus?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current PMI-CP Examination Content Outline and reflects the four exam domains and their weightings, so your preparation matches what PMI actually tests.

Are practice questions and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions and mock exams mapped to the 120-question, 230-minute closed-book format, along with topic-wise quizzes, to help you identify weak areas and build exam readiness.

Does the training meet the 35 contact hours requirement?

The instructor-led programme provides 32 contact hours, which is close to but below the 35 hours of project management education PMI requires. Check with our team on whether supplementary self-study or pre-reading is credited toward the 35-hour requirement.

How do I enrol in the PMI-CP course?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. See upcoming batches or talk to a learning advisor to get started.

What are the eligibility requirements to enrol in training?

Anyone can enrol in the training. To sit the PMI-CP exam, PMI requires completion of the four mandatory modules plus one of three experience and education sets. Our team can help you confirm which set applies to you.

Can I reschedule or transfer my enrolment to another batch?

Yes. Flexi options let you reschedule or transfer to another batch, and selected plans allow you to attend the training twice. Contact support to arrange this.
