What Is PRINCE2 Foundation and Why It Matters in the NetherlandsUntitledYour Entry Route into Structured Project Delivery

The PRINCE2 Foundation (PRINCE2-F) certification is an entry-level project management qualification that proves you understand the PRINCE2 method well enough to work effectively within a PRINCE2 project environment. Governed by AXELOS and awarded by PeopleCert, it is based on the current PRINCE2 7th Edition (2023) and the Managing Successful Projects manual. Across the Netherlands, PRINCE2 is one of the most widely recognised project frameworks in government, IT, financial services and consulting, which makes the Foundation credential a practical first step into structured project roles. It has no formal prerequisites, so graduates, career changers and project team members can all begin here and progress later to PRINCE2 Practitioner. You learn the seven principles, the new People capability, the seven practices and the seven processes that make up PRINCE2 7, and how they work together to keep projects justified and under control. Earn your PRINCE2 Foundation with Invensis Learning and build the shared project vocabulary Dutch employers expect on every team.

Invensis Learning is a Peoplecert Accredited Training Organization (2778) in Netherlands, approved to deliver official PRINCE2 Foundation Certification training using accredited courseware and standards.

Market Forces Driving Demand for PRINCE2 Skills in the Netherlands

    Public Sector Standardisation

Dutch government and EU-funded programmes expect controlled, auditable project delivery. PRINCE2 gives teams the principles, roles and controls these environments demand, the exact gap Foundation is built to help close.

    PRINCE2 builds structured governance skills

    Digital Transformation Pressure

Fintech, high-tech and logistics firms in the Netherlands run concurrent change programmes. Weak project control causes delay and overspend, so professionals who apply a proven method are increasingly sought after.

PRINCE2 builds planning and control skills

    Project Talent Shortage

The Dutch market has persistent shortages in IT and project roles. A recognised entry-level credential helps graduates and career changers prove structured project knowledge and enter delivery teams faster.

    Inconsistent Delivery Methods

Many organisations manage projects in different ways across teams. PRINCE2 provides a shared method for planning, governance and reporting, reducing risk and making project outcomes more predictable.

    After PRINCE2

Eligible for project and PMO roles across IT, government, BFSI and consulting

    Now you have

A clear entry into project coordinator, project support and PMO roles

Familiarity with tasks, but no shared project method or vocabulary

    Now you have

Command of the seven principles, practices and processes teams use daily

    Before

Recognition that fades when you change employer or country

    Now you have

A recognised first step that travels across sectors and EU borders

PRINCE2 Foundation is an entry-level qualification that shows you understand the PRINCE2 method well enough to work effectively in a PRINCE2 project environment. It suits graduates, career changers, project team members, PMO staff and IT professionals moving into delivery roles.

    Which PRINCE2 edition is current?

The current edition is PRINCE2 7, published in 2023 by PeopleCert and AXELOS. PRINCE2 7 introduces the People capability as a core element, renames Themes to Practices, and integrates agile, sustainability and commercial management. Our training and exam prep are aligned to this 7th edition.

Is PRINCE2 Foundation worth it in the Netherlands?

Yes. PRINCE2 is widely recognised across Dutch government, IT, financial services and consulting, so Foundation is a practical entry into structured project roles. Entry-level project roles in the Netherlands average around €40,000 and rise with experience and further credentials.

Do I need any prerequisites to take PRINCE2 Foundation?

No. PRINCE2 Foundation has no formal prerequisites and is open to everyone, regardless of education, experience or prior project management knowledge. It is the entry point to the PRINCE2 scheme and the mandatory prerequisite for PRINCE2 Practitioner.

How long is the PRINCE2 Foundation certification valid?

PRINCE2 Foundation is valid for three years. To keep it active, you renew every three years by earning 60 CPD (Continuing Professional Development) points within the certification cycle. Confirm current renewal options at peoplecert.org.

    Pricing

How much does PRINCE2 Foundation training cost in the Netherlands?

Pricing depends on the format you choose, such as live online or classroom, and any exam bundle. We quote in euros for the Netherlands and it is available on request. Contact a learning advisor for a tailored quote.

What is included in the course fee?

The training fee typically includes accredited PRINCE2 7 courseware, expert-led sessions, practice questions, mock exams and learner support. Where offered, an exam voucher may be bundled. Ask us what is included in your chosen package.

Is the exam fee included in the training price?

It depends on the package. PeopleCert exam pricing varies by region and channel, so the exam may be bundled or purchased separately. Confirm current exam fees at peoplecert.org, and ask us which of our packages include a voucher.

Do you offer group or corporate discounts?

    Exam

What is the format of the PRINCE2 Foundation exam?

The PRINCE2 Foundation exam has 60 multiple-choice questions with a single answer each, in a closed-book format. You have 60 minutes to complete it, and it is based on the current PRINCE2 7 Foundation syllabus.

What is the passing score for PRINCE2 Foundation?

The pass mark is 60%, which means answering at least 36 of the 60 questions correctly. The exam tests knowledge and comprehension of the PRINCE2 method across all eleven syllabus areas.

Where can I take the PRINCE2 Foundation exam?

You can take it online through PeopleCert's OnVUE proctoring, available 24/7, or at a PeopleCert authorised test centre. The exam is often arranged as part of a training and exam package. Confirm delivery options at peoplecert.org.

What if I do not pass the exam the first time?

You can re-sit the PRINCE2 Foundation exam. PeopleCert sets the current re-sit policy and fees, so verify these at peoplecert.org. Our mock exams and practice questions are designed to help you pass on your first attempt.

    Course Content

What topics does the PRINCE2 Foundation training cover?

The training covers the eleven PRINCE2 7 Foundation syllabus areas, including the overview of PRINCE2, the seven principles, the People capability, the seven practices (Business Case, Organizing, Plans, Quality, Risk, Issues and Progress) and the seven processes.

    What learning materials are provided?

You receive PRINCE2 7 aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams and study aids that map to the official Foundation syllabus. These help you revise each syllabus area and build exam readiness.

Can a complete beginner take this course?

Yes. PRINCE2 Foundation is designed for those new to PRINCE2 or to project management, and there are no prerequisites. Trainers explain each principle, practice and process from the ground up, with practical examples.

    How long is the training?

The Foundation programme runs for about 16 hours, typically delivered over two full days or four half-days. This covers all eleven syllabus areas and prepares you for the 60-question, closed-book exam.

Is the courseware aligned with the latest PRINCE2 syllabus?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current PRINCE2 7 Foundation syllabus and the PRINCE2 7th Edition (2023) manual, so you study the People capability and the renamed practices rather than an outdated edition.
