What Is the PMI Construction Professional Certification?UntitledYour Specialist Route in Construction Delivery

The PMI Construction Professional (PMI-CP) is the Project Management Institute's specialist credential for professionals who deliver construction projects, and PMI-CP certification training in the Netherlands equips you to lead complex builds on time, on budget and to standard. It validates your ability to apply project management in a construction environment across the four domains of the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline (ECO): Contracts Management, Stakeholder Engagement, Strategy and Scope Management, and Project Governance. Grounded in the current ECO and the PMBOK Guide, the credential suits construction project managers, site and project engineers moving into project management, owner's representatives and PMO professionals working on Dutch housing, infrastructure and water programmes. With the Netherlands facing a persistent housing shortfall, a major roads and flood-defence pipeline and nitrogen-related permitting pressure, employers increasingly value certified construction leaders who can govern contracts, risk and stakeholders at scale. Delivered in live virtual and classroom formats, the training covers all four ECO domains and guides you through the four mandatory self-paced modules and the PMI application. Start your PMI-CP journey with Invensis Learning and convert years of site experience into a credential recognised across construction markets worldwide.

Industry Challenges Driving PMI-CP Demand in the Netherlands

    Nitrogen Permitting and Delay Risk

Dutch nitrogen rules put over a third of planned housing at risk, so projects need managers skilled in contract administration, claims and risk control to keep delivery moving.

PMI-CP builds contracts and risk skills

    Housing Shortfall and Delivery Pressure

The Netherlands targets 100,000 homes a year but builds far fewer, pushing employers to hire construction leaders who protect scope, schedule and budget under pressure.

PMI-CP builds scope and schedule skills

    Grid Congestion and Complex Permitting

Congested electricity networks and lengthy permitting stall builds, demanding strong stakeholder engagement with regulators, utilities and local communities.

    PMI-CP builds stakeholder engagement skills

    Infrastructure and Flood-Defence Scale

A EUR 25 billion roads pipeline and Water Framework flood works demand portfolio-grade governance, risk aggregation and cross-programme coordination at scale.

    PMI-CP builds project governance skills

    Shortage of Certified Construction PMs

The Dutch market is deep in general project managers but thin in construction-specialist credential holders, making PMI-CP holders rare and sought-after.

    PMI-CP makes you stand out

    Claims, Disputes and Capital Discipline

Tight margins and disputed change orders make contract administration central, the exact focus of the PMI-CP Contracts Management domain, which carries 50% of the exam.

How to Get PMI-CP Certified in NetherlandsStep-by-Step Certification Process

The PMI-CP (PMI Construction Professional) certification path in Netherlands is a structured single-exam track. You must complete the four-module training, document 3 years of construction or built-environment project experience earned within the past 10 years, then pass the 120-question, 230-minute PMI-CP exam delivered by PMI through Pearson VUE. From initial training to earning the PMI-CP designation typically takes 1-3 months.

Step 1: Confirm You Meet the PMI-CP Eligibility Requirements

Step 2: Enroll in a Learning Program

Choose a learning format that aligns with your schedule and goals, such as a PMI-CP bootcamp, live virtual training, self-paced learning, or corporate group training. Enrollment provides access to PMI-aligned learning resources, study materials, and expert guidance.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

The PMI Construction Professional (PMI-CP) is PMI's specialist credential for construction project management. It validates your ability to apply PM across four domains: Contracts Management, Stakeholder Engagement, Strategy and Scope Management, and Project Governance. It suits construction PMs, engineers, owner's representatives and PMO professionals.

    General

What is the PMI-CP certification and who is it for?

The PMI Construction Professional (PMI-CP) is PMI's specialist credential for construction project management. It validates your ability to apply PM across four domains: Contracts Management, Stakeholder Engagement, Strategy and Scope Management, and Project Governance. It suits construction PMs, engineers, owner's representatives and PMO professionals.

Is the PMI-CP worth it for construction professionals in the Netherlands?

Yes. With Dutch employers facing nitrogen permitting, grid congestion and a housing shortfall, certified construction leaders are in demand. Roles such as construction project manager average around EUR 91,520 a year, and the credential signals proven contract, risk and stakeholder capability that employers value.

Is a PMP required before taking the PMI-CP?

No. A PMP is not a prerequisite for PMI-CP. You can apply based on your construction project management experience and education. The two credentials are complementary, as PMP validates broad project management while PMI-CP proves construction-specific expertise, and many professionals hold both.

How long is the PMI-CP certification valid?

The PMI-CP is valid for three years from the date of certification. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle within each three-year cycle, with at least 8 PDUs in each of the three areas, reported through PMI's CCR system.

    Is the PMI-CP recognised internationally?

Yes. As a PMI credential, the PMI-CP carries global recognition through PMI's network in over 200 countries. It is valued in the Netherlands and across international construction markets where clients and contractors seek globally recognised project management credentials.

    Pricing

How much does PMI-CP training cost in the Netherlands?

PMI-CP training fees vary by format and provider, and instructor-led pricing is available on request. The training fee is separate from the PMI exam fee, which PMI bills directly. Request a quote or speak with a learning advisor for current pricing and schedules.

What is included in the PMI-CP course fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, downloadable templates, guidance on the four mandatory modules and the PMI application, learner support, and a course completion certificate with contact hours. Ask about corporate or group pricing for teams.

Is the exam fee included in the training price?

No. PMI bills the PMI-CP exam fee separately in USD. For reference, it is around USD 520 for PMI members and USD 670 for non-members, and prices vary by region, so verify current fees at pmi.org before applying. Membership can reduce the exam cost.

Do you offer corporate or group discounts for PMI-CP training?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for construction and engineering teams, PMOs and leadership groups. Contact us for a tailored group quote for your organisation.

What payment methods and instalment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and offer instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

What is the format of the PMI-CP exam?

The PMI-CP exam is closed book with multiple-choice questions in single-answer and multiple-answer formats, based on the current PMI-CP Examination Content Outline. You take it online through Pearson VUE OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

How many questions are on the PMI-CP exam and how long is it?

The PMI-CP exam has 120 questions and an allotted time of 230 minutes, which is 3 hours and 50 minutes. Questions are scenario-based and drawn from the four ECO domains.

What are the PMI-CP exam domains and their weights?

The exam covers four domains from the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline: Contracts Management at 50%, Stakeholder Engagement at 30%, Strategy and Scope Management at 15%, and Project Governance at 5%. Contracts Management is the largest and most heavily weighted domain.

What is the passing score for the PMI-CP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score, so no fixed percentage is published. Results are reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement. Aim for broad mastery across all four domains.

How many attempts do I get, and can I retake the exam?

You get up to three attempts within the one-year eligibility window from the date your application is approved. If you do not pass, re-examination fees apply for the second and third attempts, so verify current amounts at pmi.org.

What are the four mandatory prerequisite modules?

Before applying, you must complete four self-paced modules in any order: Project Communications, Interface Management, Scope and Change Order Management, and Contract and Risk Management. Each is a 6 to 10 hour commitment and awards 14 PDUs, for 56 PDUs in total.

    Course Content

What topics does the PMI-CP training cover?

The training covers the four ECO domains: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%), plus guidance on the four mandatory modules, the PMI application and exam strategy.

What standard is the courseware aligned to?

The courseware is aligned to the current PMI-CP Examination Content Outline and the PMBOK Guide, along with construction industry standards and practices referenced by PMI. This keeps your preparation matched to what the exam actually tests.

Are practice tests, mock exams and assignments included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions, full-length mock exams and topic-wise quizzes mapped to the 120-question exam format, helping you identify weak areas and build readiness before exam day.

Do I need construction experience to take the exam?

Yes. To sit the exam, PMI requires one of three experience sets, ranging from 24 to 60 months of construction project management experience within the past 10 years, depending on your education, plus 35 contact hours of project management education and the four mandatory modules.

Will I receive a certificate of completion after the training?

Yes. After meeting the course requirements you receive a course completion certificate along with the contact hours earned through the programme, which support your PMI-CP application and certification renewal.

    Enrollment

What are the eligibility requirements to earn the PMI-CP?

You must complete all four mandatory modules and meet one of three sets: a secondary diploma with 60 months of construction PM experience, a bachelor's degree with 36 months, or a GAC-accredited degree with 24 months, each within the past 10 years, plus 35 contact hours of PM education.

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you will receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. Talk to a learning advisor if you would like help selecting a batch.
