What Is Root Cause Analysis?UntitledYour Toolkit for Permanent Fixes

Root Cause Analysis (RCA) Training in Malaysia is a hands-on, one-day programme that teaches you to find and fix the true underlying cause of a problem instead of repeatedly treating its symptoms. You learn a complete problem-solving toolkit, from the 5 Whys and Fishbone (Ishikawa) diagram to Fault Tree Analysis, FMEA and the 8D methodology, and when to use each one. RCA is a core discipline in quality management and underpins the corrective and preventive action that ISO 9001:2015 requires under Clause 10.2. It is applied every day across Malaysia's semiconductor, electronics, automotive, medical device and oil and gas sectors, where recurring defects and incidents carry a real cost. The training suits quality engineers, production supervisors, reliability and continuous improvement professionals, and anyone responsible for investigating problems and preventing them from returning. There is no exam; you learn by applying each tool to realistic cases, then take those skills straight back to work. Build practical RCA capability with Invensis Learning.

What Is Driving Demand for RCA Skills in Malaysia

    Recurring Defects in High-Volume Electronics

Penang and Kulim run high-volume semiconductor and E&E lines where a single recurring defect multiplies fast. Employers need people who can trace defects to their true cause and stop them for good.

    RCA builds structured investigation skills

    Zero-Defect Pressure from Global Customers

Global OEMs and automotive customers demand formal 8D problem reports for every quality escape. Teams that cannot investigate and respond rigorously risk losing critical contracts.

    RCA teaches the 8D methodology

    Scaling Semiconductor Capacity

Intel and Infineon are ramping major new fabs, backed by RM28.5bn in approved E&E investment. Rapid scale-up exposes new failure modes that demand fast, disciplined root cause analysis.

RCA builds reliability and prevention skills

    Medical Device and Pharma Compliance

Medical device and pharmaceutical manufacturers must show regulators rigorous CAPA investigations. Weak root cause analysis becomes an audit finding, so trained investigators are in demand.

RCA supports CAPA and corrective action

    The Structured Problem-Solving Gap

Malaysia has a deep pool of engineers but far fewer who are formally trained in RCA tools. Professionals fluent in Fishbone, FTA, FMEA and 8D quickly become the go-to problem solvers.

RCA makes trained problem solvers stand out

    Cost and Efficiency Pressure

Margin discipline across EMS, oil and gas and BFSI pushes organisations to eliminate waste and rework. RCA finds the systemic causes that continuous improvement teams are hired to remove.

RCA is more than a technique. It is the skill that keeps production lines running and customers satisfied. Join the professionals in Malaysia who solve problems at the root and prevent them from returning. Start your journey today.

    Your Malaysia Career Shift

From Firefighting to Root Cause Prevention

    The Shift RCA Skills Deliver

Malaysia's manufacturing and service employers increasingly separate the teams that keep solving the same problems from those that eliminate them for good. Here is which side of that line RCA skills put you on.

    Today

Seen as a capable engineer, but not the go-to problem solver

    After RCA

The person leadership calls on to lead critical investigations

    Today

Limited to your own function when incidents cross teams

    After RCA

Able to facilitate cross-functional RCA across the whole plant

    Today

Competing for roles without a standout practical skill

    After RCA

Positioned for quality, reliability and continuous improvement roles

    You master RCA

    Before

You fix the same defects and incidents again and again

    Now you have

You eliminate root causes so the same problem stays solved

    Before

Problem-solving is ad hoc and depends on the individual

    Now you have

You apply a structured RCA toolkit any team can follow

    Before

Investigations stop at the symptom or simply blame a person

    Now you have

You reach the true systemic cause with 5 Whys, Fishbone and 8D

    Before

Corrective actions are hard to prove to auditors and customers

    Now you have

You document corrective actions that satisfy ISO 9001 Clause 10.2

"In Malaysia's high-volume manufacturing, the professionals who can find and fix root causes are the ones who keep lines running and customers happy."

Train with Invensis Learning and become that problem solver.

Yes. You receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning once you finish the programme. This recognises your attendance and participation; it is a completion record, not an external certification from an awarding body.

How is my learning assessed during the course?

Learning is applied, not examined. You practise each tool through exercises such as an Is / Is Not problem definition, a 5 Whys investigation, a Fishbone workshop and an 8D report, using realistic scenarios so you can apply the skills at work immediately.

Is RCA a certification or a skills course?

RCA is a practical, vendor-neutral skills course. There is no governing body, no accreditation and no credential exam. The focus is entirely on building a problem-solving toolkit you can use across any industry or role.

Will this help with ISO 9001 or CAPA requirements?

Yes. RCA underpins the corrective and preventive action that ISO 9001:2015 requires under Clause 10.2, and it provides the investigative backbone of a compliant CAPA process in regulated industries. The training helps you document root causes and corrective actions with the rigour auditors expect.

    Course Content

What will I learn in the RCA training?

You learn to investigate a problem end to end: define it precisely, collect evidence, find the true root cause with structured tools, and develop and verify corrective actions that prevent recurrence. You also learn to select the right RCA method for each problem's severity and complexity.

How long is the RCA course?

The programme runs for one day (about 8 hours), covering RCA principles, problem definition, the 5 Whys, the Fishbone diagram and Fault Tree Analysis, FMEA, the 8D methodology, and corrective action, with hands-on exercises throughout. An extended half-day format is also available.

Does the course include hands-on practice?

Yes. Practical exercises run throughout the day. You apply Is / Is Not analysis, the 5 Whys, a Fishbone workshop and an 8D report to realistic problem scenarios, so you leave able to use each tool with confidence.

What standards and frameworks does RCA relate to?

RCA is a core discipline in quality management and connects to ISO 9001:2015 Clause 10.2 corrective action, the Six Sigma DMAIC Analyse phase, Lean problem-solving, ITIL problem management and CAPA in regulated industries such as medical devices and pharmaceuticals.

Can the training use our own workplace problems?

Yes. In corporate delivery we can build the exercises around your organisation's real defects and incidents, so your team generates genuine corrective action value while they learn. This is one of the most effective ways to run the programme.
