Market Forces Driving PgMP Demand in Mexico

    Nearshoring Delivery Complexity

Nearshoring pulls large, cross-border programmes into Mexico, demanding leaders who can coordinate multiple projects, vendors and US-linked teams under one strategic programme.

    PgMP builds programme coordination skills

    Strategy-Execution Gap

Boards fund transformation and capex programmes, but weak links between strategy and the project mix cause benefit leakage that programme leaders are hired to close.

PgMP builds prioritisation and benefits skills

    Governance Maturity Shortfall

Many Mexican enterprises run dozens of concurrent projects without a strategy-aligned programme governance layer, the exact discipline PgMP is built to provide.

    PgMP builds programme governance skills

    Scarce Programme Leadership Talent

Mexico's talent pool is deep in project managers but thin in credentialled programme leaders, making PgMP holders rare and sought after by senior employers.

PgMP makes certified leaders stand out

    Capital-Discipline Pressure

Margin and capital pressure across IT, banking and manufacturing push firms to optimise programmes, cut low-value work and rebalance investment to strategy.

    PgMP builds programme optimisation skills

    Cross-Border Stakeholder Coordination

Bilingual programmes spanning Mexican and US operations need programme-level stakeholder engagement and benefits alignment across regions and cultures.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

PgMP (Program Management Professional) is PMI's senior credential for professionals who manage multiple related projects as one programme to deliver strategic benefits. It is designed for experienced program managers, PMO leaders, directors of delivery and transformation leaders.

    General

What is the PgMP certification and who is it for?

PgMP (Program Management Professional) is PMI's senior credential for professionals who manage multiple related projects as one programme to deliver strategic benefits. It is designed for experienced program managers, PMO leaders, directors of delivery and transformation leaders.

Is PgMP worth it for senior professionals in Mexico?

Yes. Senior programme and PMO roles in Mexico are among the best paid in project delivery, and fewer than 3,000 practitioners worldwide hold PgMP, making it a strong differentiator as nearshoring and Plan Mexico scale large portfolios. Talk to a learning advisor to plan your path.

Is the PgMP recognised in Mexico?

Yes. PgMP is a globally recognised PMI credential valued across Mexico's IT and nearshoring, banking, manufacturing, consulting and telecommunications sectors, which run large, strategy-critical programmes.

What is the difference between PMP and PgMP?

PMP validates managing individual projects, while PgMP validates managing multiple related projects as a programme to deliver strategic benefits that separate projects could not. PgMP is more senior, with rigorous prerequisites and an additional panel review.

How long is the PgMP valid and how do I renew it?

PgMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle (at least 8 PDUs in each area) within every three-year continuing certification requirements cycle.

    Pricing

What is included in the PgMP training fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, exam-readiness practice, application and panel-review support, and learner support. Training is quoted in Mexican pesos; the PMI exam fee is billed separately. Request a quote for full details.

How much does PgMP training cost in Mexico?

PgMP training in Mexico is quoted in Mexican pesos and varies by format and cohort, so pricing is available on request. The PMI exam fee is billed separately in USD. Contact us for a tailored quote.

How much is the PgMP exam fee?

For reference, PMI charges around USD 800 for members and USD 1,000 for non-members; confirm current fees at pmi.org before applying. PMI membership (about USD 139 per year) reduces the exam cost and gives access to The Standard for Program Management.

Do you offer corporate or group pricing?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for PMOs, transformation offices and leadership teams. Ask about corporate or group pricing for a tailored quote.

    What payment methods are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, with instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

What is the format of the PgMP exam?

The PgMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PgMP Examination Content Outline and The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition. Questions span the five programme management performance domains.

How many questions are on the PgMP exam and how long is it?

The exam has 170 questions and a four-hour (240-minute) allotted time. It is delivered online through Pearson VUE OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

What are the PgMP exam domains and their weights?

Five domains: Strategic Program Management (11%), Program Life Cycle Management (44%), Benefits Management (11%), Stakeholder Engagement (16%) and Governance (18%).

What is the passing score for the PgMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed pass mark. The result is set through psychometric analysis, reported with domain-level performance feedback, so focus on broad mastery across all five domains.

What is the PgMP panel review and how many attempts do I get?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment where program management practitioners evaluate your documented experience; you must pass it and the written exam. You have up to three exam attempts within a one-year eligibility window from application approval.

    Course Content

What topics does the PgMP training cover?

The training covers the five performance domains: Strategic Program Management, Program Life Cycle Management, Benefits Management, Stakeholder Engagement and Governance, plus application and exam strategy, aligned to the 4th edition Standard for Program Management.

Can I take PgMP training if I am new to programme management?

PgMP is a senior credential that requires substantial experience, so the training suits experienced programme and project leaders. It helps you consolidate knowledge, document experience for the application, and prepare for the exam and panel review.

What learning resources and materials are provided?

You receive PMI-aligned courseware, references to the PgMP Examination Content Outline and Handbook, practice questions, full-length mock exams, templates and topic-wise quizzes to build exam readiness.

Is the courseware aligned with the current PgMP standard?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current PgMP Examination Content Outline and The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition, which forms the primary reference for the exam.

Will I earn contact hours or PDUs from the training?

Yes. The programme delivers 24 contact hours of instructor-led training, which support your exam preparation and can be claimed as PDUs toward maintaining your PMI credentials.

    Enrollment

What are the eligibility requirements for the PgMP exam?

There are three sets. Set A (secondary diploma) needs 48 months of project management experience or an active PMP, plus 84 months of programme management experience. Sets B and C (a degree, or a GAC-accredited degree) reduce the programme experience to 48 or 36 months. All experience must fall within the past 15 years.

Do I need PMP before PgMP?

No. PMP is not a mandatory prerequisite. However, an active PMP satisfies the project management experience requirement across all three eligibility sets, so PMP holders only need to document their programme management experience.

How do I enrol in the PgMP course?

Enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you will receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. See upcoming batches to get started.

What training formats are available in Mexico?

We offer online (live virtual) instructor-led training, classroom sessions, and customised corporate group training for teams across Mexico, so you can choose the format that fits your schedule.

Can I reschedule or transfer my enrolment to another batch?

Yes. Flexi options let you reschedule or transfer to another batch, and selected plans let you attend the training again. Contact support to arrange this.
