What is the PgMP certification and who is it for?

Is the PgMP worth it for professionals in Malawi?

Yes. As Malawi's banks, telecoms, energy utilities and donor-funded programmes scale up large, strategy-critical portfolios, employers increasingly value leaders who can govern at programme level. PgMP validates that senior capability and opens programme director and head of PMO roles.

Do I need PMP before taking PgMP?

No. PMP is not a mandatory prerequisite for PgMP. However, an active PMP satisfies the project management experience requirement across all three eligibility sets, so PMP holders only need to document their programme management experience.

How long is the PgMP certification valid?

The PgMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle, with a minimum of 8 PDUs in each of Ways of Working, Power Skills and Business Acumen, within each three-year cycle.

Is the PgMP recognised internationally?

Yes. As a PMI credential the PgMP carries global recognition and is referenced by senior employers worldwide as a benchmark for programme management. With fewer than 3,000 holders globally, it is a distinctive differentiator.

Pricing

How much does PgMP training cost in Malawi?

PgMP training fees vary by format and provider, so pricing is available on request. The PMI exam fee is billed separately by PMI in USD under regional pricing and is not part of the training fee. Request a quote for current options.

What is included in the PgMP course fee?

The fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, downloadable templates, application and panel-review support, learner support and a course completion certificate with contact hours. Ask a learning advisor for the full list of inclusions.

Is the exam fee included in the training price?

No. PMI bills the PgMP exam fee separately in USD under regional pricing. For reference it is around USD 800 for PMI members and USD 1,000 for non-members; verify current fees at pmi.org. Membership can also lower renewal costs.

Do you offer corporate or group pricing?

What is the format of the PgMP exam?

The PgMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PgMP Examination Content Outline and The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition. It covers five performance domains and is delivered online proctored or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

How many questions are on the PgMP exam and how long is it?

The exam has 170 questions and an allotted time of four hours. It uses single-answer and multiple-answer multiple-choice question formats.

What are the PgMP exam domains and their weights?

Five domains: Strategic Program Management (11%), Program Life Cycle Management (44%), Benefits Management (11%), Stakeholder Engagement (16%) and Governance (18%).

What is the PgMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to PgMP. A panel of programme management practitioners evaluates your documented experience. It is mandatory in addition to the written exam, and both must be passed to earn the credential.

What if I do not pass the exam first time?

PMI permits up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period. Reexamination fees apply to later attempts. Our training includes structured practice and mock exams so you can prepare thoroughly before you sit.

What topics does the PgMP training cover?

The training covers the five PgMP performance domains, Strategic Program Management, Program Life Cycle Management, Benefits Management, Stakeholder Engagement and Governance, plus guidance on the PMI application, panel review and exam strategy.

Which standard is the course based on?

The course is grounded in The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition, and the current PgMP Examination Content Outline, so your preparation aligns with what PMI actually tests.

What learning resources are provided?

You receive PMI-aligned courseware, references to the PgMP Examination Content Outline and Handbook, practice questions, mock exams, templates, quizzes and revision aids to support your study.

Do I need experience before enrolling?

Anyone can attend the training, but the PgMP itself is a senior credential. To sit the exam you must meet PMI's project and programme management experience requirements, which our advisors can help you assess.

Are mock exams and practice questions included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions and full-length mock exams mapped to the 170-question, four-hour format, helping you identify weak areas and build readiness across all five domains.

How do I enrol in the PgMP course?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you will receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. Talk to a learning advisor if you need guidance.

What are the eligibility requirements for the PgMP exam?

PMI offers three sets. With a secondary diploma: 48 months of project management experience or an active PMP, plus 84 months of programme management experience. With a bachelor's degree: the same PM requirement plus 48 months of programme experience. All within the past 15 years.

What training formats are available?

We offer live online (virtual) instructor-led training, classroom training and customised corporate group training, so you can choose the format that fits your schedule and location in Malawi.

Can I reschedule or transfer to another batch?
