    Who awards the Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification?

    The certification is governed by the International Association for Six Sigma Certification (IASSC), an independent, globally recognised body for Lean Six Sigma. The professional designation awarded is IASSC-CYB.

    How long is the certification valid?

    An IASSC Yellow Belt certification holds Current status for three years. To stay current, you pass the recertification exam before the elapse date or within 90 days after it.

    What is the format of the Yellow Belt exam?

    The exam is a closed-book test of 60 multiple-choice and true or false questions. Some forms include up to 6 additional unscored questions. It is taken online with proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

    How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

    The exam has 60 questions and a two-hour allotted time. Up to 6 additional unscored pretest questions may appear on some exam forms.

    What is the passing score for the Yellow Belt exam?

    You need a minimum of 230 points out of 300 to pass. Questions are spread across the five DMAIC phases, with roughly 20 per cent on each phase.

    Are there prerequisites to sit the exam?

    No. There are no prerequisites for the Yellow Belt exam. Training and real-world experience are recommended but not mandatory.

    What if I do not pass on the first attempt?

    You can retake the exam by purchasing another voucher. Our training, practice questions and trainer guidance are designed to help you prepare thoroughly and sit the exam with confidence.

    Course Content

    What topics are covered in the Yellow Belt training?

    The training covers all five DMAIC phases: Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve and Control, plus core Lean tools such as 5S, value stream mapping, Kanban and Poka-Yoke at a foundational awareness level.

    Can a complete beginner take this course?

    Yes. The Yellow Belt is the entry-level credential and assumes no prior Lean Six Sigma knowledge. The training builds concepts step by step, so beginners can follow comfortably.

    How long is the training?

    The programme runs for 16 hours, delivered as two full days or four half-days. This gives you a focused, practical introduction to Lean Six Sigma.

    What learning resources are provided?

    You receive courseware aligned to the Yellow Belt Body of Knowledge, practice questions in the 60-question format, exercises and trainer support to reinforce each DMAIC phase.

    Will I get a certificate after the training?

    Yes. You receive a course completion certificate. To earn the IASSC-CYB designation, you then pass the official Yellow Belt exam, which is purchased separately.
